I do not knowed about these, thanks for the info, there are also an alternate version of the one thing (with other camera angles), that is the version from the vhs video the swing and other stories, but is inter-cutted with the interviews, you've seen that? There are a video on YT where there are both versions.
Also exists an alternate video of devil inside, filmed in europe, totally different to the original.
Yes there are 2 versions of "The One Thing". The first version was finally released on the INXS DVD "I'm Only Looking" while the second version with slightly different scenes in it was released on the 1990 VHS video "INXS Greatest Video Hits" as well as on "The Swing and Other Stories" (but ruined with interview inserts). I have never seen an alternate video of "Devil Inside" - you got me there.
stereomusicvideo are you sure the bottom version of the one thing was released on 1990 VHS Greatest Video Hits? I think the 1990 release and the DVD release are the same, the old version from the Swing VHS (and ruined) is the only one I found. Probably the old version was the choice to aired on MTV at the time of the debut, slighty altered beacuse the MTV restrictions at the time.
No the VHS and DVD releases of The One Thing are not the same. The VHS release had version 2, where the opening dining table scene is unbroken for 40 seconds. It pans from the candles to Michael Hutchence, with no cuts to Tim Farriss playing the guitar. There's also very different scenes around the 2:08 - 2:36 mark showing the whole band playing, and many scenes are in a different order to version 1.
