INXS - Johnson's Aeroplane Lyrics
Four long lines one darker than the rest
Each one has a purpose, making borders on the land
Farmer's pride you know he works real hard
From a small aeroplane you can see the fields
Japanese gardens
Heart shaped hedges
Japanese gardens
Ah, ah, ah, ah
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
Ah, ah, ah, ah
A place to work and grow
Four long years one leaner than the rest
The animals are thin and the pastures dry
Farmer's pride if the weather doesn't lie
From a small aeroplane you can see the sea
Lot's of blue
Very deep blue
Ah, ah, ah, ah
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
Ah, ah, ah, ah
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
Johnson sees the fields from all the sides
Steel machines and black tar roads
Countryside where the spirit never dies
In his face all the history shows
Farmer's pride as the rains came down
Ah, ah, ah, ah
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
Ah, ah, ah, ah
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
Heart shaped hedges
Japanese gardens
Heart shaped hedges
Japanese gardens
Heart shaped hedges
Japanese gardens
Heart shaped hedges
Japanese Gardens
Ah, ah, ah, ah
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
Ah, ah, ah, ah

One of my Favs that doesnt get alot of Headlines RIP Michael
Just watched MYSTIFY on ABC... such a misunderstood man... when I think of Michael Hutchence I think of this song... such a powerful reminder of my puberty blue days on the northern beaches ... so glad to see the inxs X museum going ahead in Ballina... the home of many enlightened northern beaches residents... he would love it!!
I love this song. Miss you Michael.
This song came into my mind yesterday while walking in a Japanese garden in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. I sung it all the way home

Awesome UNDERRATED Song that goes Unnoticed,One of my Favs 👏 !!
Thanks so much for the views and for taking the time to comment, John Bush!
My favorite INXS song. They had created something that was vibrant, truthful, sincere, rebellious, hot, patriotic and incredible......This may go down in my mind and in INXS history as their BEST SONG.
Takes me back to my teens in the glorious 80's. I was so lucky to get to be a teenager then that is for sure. Everything was different before cellphones smartphones ect and being a teen was less complicated. The Swing and listen like theives are my two faves. This happens to be my most favorite of all of their songs. We were robbed of a beautiful man when Michael died. I will always passionately love and miss him.
Summer 84/85 and The Swing was everywhere in suburban Australia. Heat, surf, and the glare of the sun. Perfect time to be young.
I think I was 6 or 7 when my mother who is 49 now I’m 16 to played this in the car and I just found it. What a great song love the sax because I also play the instrument👍
You can't take the land with you
This is the best INXS song. And such glorious HD, and a great clip. The clip is superb.
I will play this on my motorized hang glider and mini airplane when I get them.
Such an incredible song. I was so lucky to have seen them live in 1984, opening up for the Go-Gos. I took about 10-12 dudes (boyscouts) with me who had never heard of them, and they were blown away - like I was. Michael Hutchence was a god (R.I.P.). Hell the whole band was incredible. It started pouring down raining at an outside venue and we didn't even stay for the Go-gos (which I now regret). Great concert nonetheless.
Do you recall if they opened with this song?
Never got to see INXS but did get to see Echo and the Bunnymen . That was the best concert I've ever seen.
Sincere thanks for checking out the video soulerflare7, and for taking the time to comment!
@MetalGuruMessiah oh definitely , wasn't trying to take away from this song . This was my favorite song from my favorite album " The Swing".
Couldn't admit to liking this when it first came out. I was an awkward country boy at uni ,(a year younger than my mates), and wanted to fit in. Went to England in '88, lived in a north London squat for a year, found my balls, (they were under the couch), and didn't look back. Still my favorite song of theirs.
the soundtrack our lives... rock n roll yeah
NEW WAVE (AUSTRALIAN ROCK) AWESOME
Best song Eva x
Realmente é um álbum desconhecido. mas e muito bom>>>>>>>>>
They would have made all others talked about..., ONLY after saying IN-XX-CESSSSSS!!!!!!
A beautiful, haunting song. One of INXS best songs but was never released as a single.
I still love you Michael Hutchence❤
One of my first records - LOVE this song
I adore this song, and this video is perfect. I'm sure Michael Hutchence is out there in the cosmos somewhere smiling
Top clip for a Top song great job MGM
They were so awesome.
And then Kick came out...
Their best song by far
They made over 250 songs ? http://www.famousfix.com/topic/inxs/songs But this song was made when Michael had to much to drink and woke up and thought he was Peter Garrett ? :-P
excellent,XXX
Not bad for a homemade video. Top 5 inxs songs
Happy you enjoyed and took time to comment! Thanks!!!
Absolute genius these guys
Sincere thanks for checking out the video Robert Grant, and for taking the time to comment!
I played this album . swing so much tape deck stuffed up back in 84 ,reminds me off hot Aussie nights in summer bbqs ,women ,mates and
had the ultimate privilege to see INXS live
And now I finally know after 32 odd years what Johnson's Aeroplane looks like 😀
This is gorgeous ... thank you for creating this. This song came into my cranium yesterday as I was walking somewhere ... a tune I haven't heard in ages, but recall from my skateboarding days, skating to KICK and then getting further into INXS with The Swing album etc. They have such a unique sound and pallette of emotional tone in their music. Thank you again.
energybengt dude, de ja vu of my youth..
My favorite INXS song. Nice job with the video. Actually, great job.
Fly on Michael.
Forgot how great INXS was.
carried out successfully metal messiah. gifted. i think one of inxs excellent, and you expressed the soul of this wonderfully. a genuine triumph. how about heaven sent by inxs too?
Always one of my favourites and Kirks sax.... thanks :)
Awesome video! I love it!
Just a question - is that a Richard Bach reference in your name?
Top Ten Inxs song. I was so lucky to have this album when I was 13 in 84`/85`.
This album was the soundtrack to my coming of age. Magical, hot summer
I was 23 but yes it was a magical hot summer for me too, a wild time.
This álbum should be in spotify
I saw INXS in the Paramount Theatre in Seattle in the year 1985. I will always love their music. Its so magical to me. I also met Hutch when he was walking through the Pike Place Market in about 1995 or 94. He was so down to earth and nice. He was also very stunning to look at. INXS is one of my favorites from the 80's. So sad Hutch died so young.
I've always loved this. Kind of melancholy
It came out during one of the longest droughts in Australia's History..... Many farmers ended being broken financially and losing their land to the banks because of it..
YOU CAN HEAR A GOTH ELEMENT TO THEIR EARLY WORK.NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.
I THINK ANDREWS SYNTH PLAYING MADE THIS SONG BEETHOVEN WOULD APPROVE OF.
Lovely.
This is just magnificent - a perfect match to a truly classic song. Hutch would be proud.
@Aus80sRockRadio Thanks kindly!
I THINK HUTCH WAS PROUD!!!
Great job metal guru- great job! I am an old school INXS fan and you really nailed it on this my favorite track from the swing!
One of my favorites, too. :) Well, the whole album, that is.
top 5 of inxs song i think.
The Swing is my favorite album by Inxs and I have everyone. It was my first album by Inxs and I played the hell out of it when I was a teen in the 80`s.
My sediments exactly & Listen Like Thieves is my close 2nd favourite!
This was an amazing live band. Great song.
One of the best Inxs songs ever. Top ten definitely. But there are so many.
A fantastic and beautiiful song - love it - and the best they ever did,
Well done metal messiah. ... Brilliant. I think one of inxs finest and you captured the essence of this wonderfully. A real masterpiece. How about black and white by inxs too?
Thanks so much, rob c! I've been playing with a couple of other INXS tracks from my favorite INXS album (Shabooh Shoobah).....including Black and White....stay tuned!
This is pretty bloody cool
Happy you liked it!
I hear Models and Triffids & Go-Betweens...
I guess early 80's sound same same now...
one of my faves
Great fave!
GREAT STUFF!!!
Their best song IMO!!
I recall seeing these guys once and they played this followed by Dont Change as the last two songs. This black duck was going bananas. :) My two fave INXS songs in a row...
a true Aussie Country loving/understanding song
a fave xxx
re release this song today with this film clip and it would still work, the lyrics and the music was way ahead of its time. and still didnt get the recognition it deserved...i suppose shows how good the rest of the album was
I remember in middle school (1985ish) thinking the name of the band was spelled, "In Excess" and scribbled it on an 8th grade notebook as such. Ooops. All I had was a mix tape that a friend has made, and this was one of the songs on it. This song still inspires me.
Absolutely bloody brilliant video Well done.
still beautiful..... having a Dogs in Space moment, missing Uncle Lou.....
Thanx MGM!! peas.....
Truly top notch; much appreciated from myself! Love your work!
My favorite INXS's song EVER. I was introduced to it in 1988 when I was listening to a Brazillian Rock Radio and from that moment to now I never forget this!!!
i thought i was watching a full production original film clipthat cost like $60000 'wow .awesome gob smacked that so much time and effort was put into this as a project ,abosolute perfection !!!!!! you captured the whole story of the song ,i was lucky enough to see inxs twice on the swing tour and worked on the australian made tour
They released this song during one of the worst drouths in Australia History. I remember it well it lasted about 8 years. When it broke i can still remember my little brother and sister running inside in fear and panic because if the lighting and thunder. We had to assure them things where ok. They had never experienced it before and they where like 7 and 8 year olds.
Dude this clip was awesum. LOVED it. Such a timeless song too... amazing. So: thankx
Tied with Original Sin, for me!
I LOVE THIS SONG!!
Ah......Michael we love you RIP.And 1984 what a year? And yes I was just 16 too!Unfortunately unlike New Order who I saw at festival Hall Mar 01st last year I lament never having seen this band!
Christmas and INXS...lots of sex with my right hand...a cold Heineken...some things I love. Seriously, INXS songs help to remind me NOT to take LIFE too seriously.
Awesome video, this stunning song deserved the recognition...Its my favorite INXS ever made...You did it justice, Thanks..
I totally agree, all three songs are (I Believe) the best INXS ever made. I saw them in concert in 1991 4 rows from the stage...Mesmerizing they were!
Why the hell don't any radio stations play this or any INXS classics ???
I love it! Could you please make a vid clip for myself? Kenny the Clown (510)289-2323.
Thank you.
There's so many. Falling Down The Mountain is right up there too. Pretty much anything from the Kick album too.
Probably tied with "Never Tear Us Apart" or "Don't Change" for me.....what is the number one?! Thanks!
Thanks for checking it!
Thanks so much!
Thank you very much! If I thought it might get "official" I'd need to work it up a bit! LOL! :-)
How the hell did I miss all these great comments!?! Sorry. I truly appreciate the very kind words for the choices and videos!! It's comments EXACTLY like this that make me want to go on, from other fans who love the songs I do......I really thank you for the support and thanks so much for watching and commenting.
