I see a lot of people hate on there new stuff but in my opinion these guys still got it. I saw them a month ago in El Paso and it was the best live concert I’ve seen.

They got girlfriends after S.C.I.E.N.C.E lol that's what happened. Then after Morning View.... It was all downhill.

I saw them 2 or three years ago, it was decent. They played a song from S.C.I.E.N.C.E. at each show I went to. They closed their tour alone at the Joint at the Hard Rock in Vegas. That set was phenomenal and extremely intimate. Brandon also had a long conversation with me about water and conservation, then said hi to me in passing later that night. It’s been a couple years, but I still think they got it, just not the same inspiration... I second the girlfriend idea... my last relationship did a number on my creativity.

I never realized until now how much this sounds like something from Mr. Bungle's first album. I miss this version of Incubus. I saw them live in the mid 90s and they blew me away.

San Holo kinda fell off after light grenades but I can still appreciate these guys and there growth as musicians. when I hurd science I was like: fuck yeah, funky as fuck! then make yourself dropped, and it was a completely different sound... still a badass band but I wish they would have kept it funky metal for a few more albums.

Well you have upset fans from this era that wanted a new Faith No More or Primus...yeah I get expanding your horizons musically. I'd say I personally lost interest in Incubus after Make Yourself. To each their own tho...no fight here just want to elaborate. For the record this is not their best effort, but insanely good for a bunch of teenagers.

all i can add is that incubus seems to have some grasp of lyrical significance, instead of assuming (as primus seems to) that merely coasting by with omnipresent slap bass, and employing album titles such as "Sailing on the sea of cheese" is sufficient to constitute music... an assumption with which I must respectfully (but firmly, and with a definitively raised eyebrow) disagree.

I have to throw it out there I am not the first to point that out. And in terms of vocals, Boyd was heavily influenced by first and foremost Mike Patton, Layne Staley, Anthony Keidis just to name a few. If you know all 3 of these voices you can spot at least one of them in each song off Fungus Amongus.

@WildBillHickums I like a lot of nu metal way more than primus, but I prefere this, which is closer to funk/jazz/metal/fusion to what primus are....which incidentally ... primus sucks!

@sacredgeometry if you like primus, yes these songs would appear to be the best, if you like the nu metal scene, S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is your best bet.

Early Incubus does sound reminiscent of RHCP, Primus and Mr Bungle (to which they even admit the influence of these bands) But the thing is that Incubus transformed frm being a cut -copy sort of band and made themselves into their own. Their new stuff aint anything like this or SCIENCE but Incubus are incubus and anythin they make will always be badass!!

Their early stuff sounds like Primus more then RHCP.
