This band has gotten me through my darkest moments. Music is healing. I'm around for my kids now. Maria's music hits home and makes me realize I am not alone. I'm worth more

One of my best (and at the time, only) friends abandoned me during the worst of my addiction. I didn’t know what I said or did wrong because I had serious memory blanks. I didn’t understand why the kindest person I knew, who I’d known for a long time, just gave up on me. He was the only one who really knew how bad things truly were, and he still left me at my absolute lowest. I had really liked him also, but most of my feelings had faded at this point. I drove home that night really messed up and almost overdosed because I thought I could forget him and everything else wrong in my life. I couldn’t. There really is nothing scarier than being paralyzed on the floor, using every bit of effort you have just to keep breathing, and fighting to stay conscious. This song became a source of encouragement to me during that time and while I was trying to get clean. I can feel every bit of pain in the lyrics.

This comment section gives me hope for humanity. Suffering from depression myself, it's really nice to see all the support here.

The song it's simply amazing. Her voice and her pain just make it perfect, You can feel it in your bones.

I'm very emotionally sensitive to music. I have to avoid some of my favorite songs, because they can trigger a really bad mindset and cause depression to take over, despite how much progress I've made with my mental health. But tonight, I couldn't tell what music I needed to hear. I felt depressed already, and wanted to listen to emotionally heavy music, but was afraid of making myself worse. I pulled up this song. Haven't listened to it in months. As it turns out, this is exactly what I needed. Maria, you are a fighter, as well as an inspiration to me as an artist, witch, and someone who struggles with depression. Bo shit girl ! Drugs , affected my life . But , I was one of them functioning addicts . Had car , Internet , I gave my babies what ever I could afford . I'm addicted to Opioid.
The fuck up part, I'm 52 and have two fused discs in my lower back. Now .

Finally , after 5 yrs after showing a ER doc my bulge in my back . Told me it was normal . Far fr having two discs fused togeather .

Im reading all these comments.. So much hurt.. So much pain.. Yet I see so many fighters, being fueled by this song.. Maria, I hope you know how many souls you touch.. How many find comfort in your songs and continue fighting because of them.
I could share my sob story amongst the hundreds already posted here... The abuse.. The anguish.. Being alone.. And standing on my own,. When no one else is there. While others stand front and center. To watch me fall.
I was so tired... I needed this pain to stop. I was simply going to dissappear... And ironicly, while getting on YouTube, this song was on the top of the home page........ No words.. when I was 18 I came out to my family. told them I was gay. my dad nearly killed me. beat the shit out of me. left me dead in the woods near our house. the only one that visited me were my youngest brother and my oldest sister. my father disowned me. luckily a friend that I knew for a short time. took me in. I would of been homeless if it wasn't for her. im 30 now. married and have a great job. I still think about that day. I can still hear the words he told me when his fists mainly did the talking. i still get a post card from my mom on my birthday and Christmas. listening to this song helps me fight thru the heartache.
