This is the In Flames I know, my older brother introduced me to this like early 2000's. I heard some of the newer songs and they were absolute load of steaming crap - I couldn't believe it was the same band even

If my history is correct, it's not the same band. I believe the guitarist responsible for this classic sound left and the singer is now responsible for the direction they have taken

I listened to this music in adolescence and it sounded cool to me. I THOUGHT I was really listening to it but I come back years later and realise I've come to genuinely understand and identify with the songs.

I love this song, but the only "Pinball Map" I have ever heard of is the website that shows where you can play pinball in your area. if he was guided by that he must have a time machine ("I guess I'll fly some other time..."). "and the driver still unknown to me..." he must be waiting for an uber to show up when he is in the future (now) using the pinball map to find a place to go play pinball.

Personally I prefer Death but I still love In Flames, as I could never call it "shitty commercial metal", for all of us metal fans, no matter the genre, should be together, strong, united against the real shitty songs out there.

And they top Pop off with lyrics/videos that are quite literally softcore porn

I don't mind their stuff up to and including sounds of a playground fading, but their last album is just inexcusable. NICKELBACK is heavier these days.

People change, chill out as the years go by. Bands change, folks want to experiment with their sound.

Listen to the old stuff, if you aren't into the new stuff that's ok. You have albums you love that will last the ages.

I'm old. I'm not into anything of Metallica after And Justice For All except a single song here and there. But I don't begrudge the band for changing. For whatever reason, they chilled, they wanted to be more mainstream and radio friendly, the all actually wanted to morph to their newish sound . . . I still have the albums I love to listen to.

I saw them live and Anders was a total asshole. Everyone chanted one more song and he started yelling expecting to be paid extra like wtf

Well I only saw them once at ozzfest 05, Zombie was playing on stage 2 while they were opening up stage 1 I wondered over for a bit because I really liked in flames back then... and the songs were very hard to tell apart and everything was all muffled together. Could have been a bad sound day for them, but I went right back over to Zombie.

seagirltoo, me too, meaning I'm old and every time I saw them live they were great! One of this time was at the Brixton Academy in 2006 for the Unholy Alliance Tour with Slayer. Unfortunately my hero, Jesper, wasn't there but the rest of the band put on a great show. And Dave Lombardo was perfect that night. One of the greatest "musical" experiences I've ever had =)

Old In Flames is awesome. If you want a replacement for their Gothenburg style of metal, check out Arch Enemy. Some former Carcass talent there. And Angela Gossow can growl with the best of em.

Exactly. They fight more focused and memorable songs now. The older albums have hits that are more spaced out with some songs that aren't as high. But the longer they make music the more flow they get. I'd say starting with reroute to remain you could really have every song pop out in your memory. Like they all could be hit singles

You say it as if people hate new in flames just for being new not for being bad and sell outs. There is such thing as good music and bad music and what they make now is bad compared to what they used to make. Plus I know this is almost half a decade late but you better fucking know this in case you haven't figured in 4 years
