I really want Schaffer and the boys to bring us another of these ongoing concept albums. Night of the Stormrider, Something Wicked, Horror Show, and The Dark Saga are easily my favorite records of theirs. I miss the style of those albums. Longform, epic storytelling translated into semi-progressive metal epics that combine traditional heavy metal, thrash, power metal, and orchestral elements. It reminds me of Symphony X in some respects. Two of my all time favorite songs are Iced Earth's Dante's Inferno and Symphony X's The Odyssey. I'm itching for Iced Earth to release something similar to those epic masterpieces. With the range that Stu has and the talent their new lead guitar player has, they could definitely write something tantamount to the feeling of the Odyssey or their past works like Travel in Stygian. Of course John is always great, but I feel that he hasn't been as inspired the past couple records as he's as during their prime.

I didn't like most of the album at first except this song but with more listening it's excellence became apparent, it's one of the best right up there with Horror Show and Alive in Athens

That line really struck a chord with me - to think of all the advanced tools this species has built and yet we, as a species, still are a bunch of apes that has yet to figure out that we killing the very thing that makes our lives possible every day by releasing more and more toxins into the biosphere: all for the sake of making even bigger tools that will produce even worse effects on this planet in the long-run!

I chose these guys for my Rock History classes project -- to choose which band you feel deserve to be in the hall of fame..These guys popped in my mind instantly with no real competitors -- such melodic brutality with phenomenal storytelling.

Its interesting I never picked up on it before but the riff during the verses is almost identical (albeit slower) version of the riff during the verses on "The Coming Curse". A brilliant move to bring things full circle by Schaffer. Good song, fantastic vocal by Matt.

I just received the Box Of The Wicked for my birthday from my parents and it's amazing! It's great to support the band and all of it's members(including the great Tim Owens as much as the legend Matt Barlow) and have all these amazing albums and materials original \m/

I think it's Set speaking, because of the 'walk through the ages' line. But, then it is Jon speaking from a god's eye point of view. The chorus is the band speaking from a human point of view to their fellow man.
I read the lyrics as, the truth is obvious, but hard to accept, the new world order is enslaving the planet. Will YOU roll over or will you stand up against tyranny. 'Led to the slaughter, or lead the way' to freedom, the truth will set you free

I sort of agree.... it does seem to be the ending point for the saga and it does show the moral, but it's kind of unusual for Set to see mankind worthy enough to live, seeing how the reason for his existence isn't to take it upon himself to judge their existence but rather to carry out revenge of the setians and to simply destroy humanity.

Best song from the Crucible of Man, 2nd probably being Harbinger of Fate or I Walk Alone, though I liked the whole of Framing Armageddon a lot more, the whole musical style of it sounded better to me, at least.

Well it's an open ended song. So for all we know he may've destroyed humanity. It's left to our imagination.
