Hutchinson, Eric - Outside Villanova Lyrics
And now I'm trying to decide if I feel dirty at all
Cause it gets hard to tell
It's never just black and white
She's got a mind of her own and she uses it well
She's got some pull-out sofa that we won't hardly need
She is only drinking soda revving up that motor
Got places we could go to but I still won't believe
That she's only gifted
When I'm standing by her side
She goes unassisted
And I start to relax as I cut her some slack
So get up I gotta go to work
Facing all these people who now know I'm a jerk
Concealing all this evidence before everybody knows
What I've done and what I'm gonna do again
And in the middle of the night I have a breakdown of sorts
With regret creeping in
She's gonna put up a fight
And she will get her way
Cause she loves sleeping in
So I need someone to side with when she begins confiding
And I cannot provide it cause I'm endlessly cold
She says she's so excited to play some groom and bride
With me but I'm undecided so I need to be told
That she's only sinking
When I'm sleeping by her side
With a change of thinking
I could pull us away even just for a day
So get up I gotta go to work
Facing all these people who now know I'm a jerk
And it's a set-up I gotta change my clothes
Concealing all this evidence before everybody knows
What I've done and what I'm gonna do again
What I'm gonna do again
She grows impatient to change my tune
She's getting older and legal soon
And I wasn't ready to start out and go upsetting
Some girl that I'd be forgetting
By the time the cops came by that afternoon
And I try to decide as she pulls me aside
So get up I gotta go to work
Facing all these people who now know I'm a jerk
And it's a set-up I gotta change my clothes
Concealing all this evidence before everybody knows
Just what I've done and what I'm gonna do again
What I'm gonna do again

Isso sim é música de primeira
pretty great for a song about statutory rape
best comment
I think it's about a guy (a professor?) and a girl attending Bryn Mawr College
maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part tho
The story behind this song came from him meeting a minor after a show who basically wouldn’t leave him alone - he wrote the song about what would have “happened under different circumstances”.
@Sam Clayton brynmawr in wales? thats where my mums side of family are from
Atlanta 10/16 !!
shame em shame em all God d*****!!
I'm so happy this popped up on my pandora, because i absolutely love this song
this song is about rape
I don't mean to be rude or anything. I love Eric! But... I'm pretty sure this song is about rape :/
It's about sleeping with a girl that's 17. So, TECHNICALLY, but like in my state the law is 16, so it wouldn't be in my state? I find the whole situation very weird
The seventeen people that dislike this are def and angry they can't hear it. :(
+David Pyzik that's ableism. don't shame deaf people.
Man, I love his voice!
Like what I've heard so far, can't wait for your tour with Kelly Clarkson this summer !!
Favorite song of his!
still my favorite eric hutchinson song
solid gold everything
where does rape come into this?
@Donna Brown into my comment?, it doesn't. i'm just saying his music sounds good regardless of what it's about
What live album is this?
I think it is called Eric Hutchinson sounds like this...
It's called "Before I Sold Out" and it's awesome. Check it out!
I love this man
"I know this one. We can skip it." LOLOLOLLLLLLL
He says "I'm getting older and legal soon," instead of "she." Guess he was distracted. I must have heard this song a dozen times before I paid attention to what he was talking about. It was just a catchy song and then I was all, "OMG." Too funny.
+Aynge Mackay he was quoting what the girl was saying i do believe (:
He is seriously good
can someone make a lyric video to this video plz
This guy seriously needs some recognition.
He's got a pretty decent following now.
Not a lot of people know him, but the people who do, love him. That's all that matters
This is from his live album "Before I Sold Out", not Sounds Like This (where the album version is). He talks to the crowd after All Over Now (the song right before this on the album) and introduces Outside VIllanova as a brand new song but wants people to clap like they've heard it before to trick people on the album; "Oh yeah, you know this one?" Love it
On his spotify he has it in this album
Eric Hutchinson has such a cool voice :)
Holy shit
If i recall, its the 'Before i Sold Out' album.
like this if you watched all over now before this and got the inside joke
Oh he is so funny
Neither is price inflation..
Does anyone know the name of this album, and where I can get it?? It's not "Sounds Like This: Live", but I can't find what album it is. I've only heard these versions (with audience interaction, etc.) on Pandora. Help!
Lol, I'm doing that right now XD
He is one of the best live singers ever. c:
Thanks to Pandora,
I love the endings to his songs :)
stealing's not cool bro...
mp3rocket
you're not pandora
You are welcome.
I saw this guy live at Purdue. He's great.
Eric Hutchinson, you lie :) no one knew the song at the beginning! you told them to pretend ;)
Only Eric Hutchinson could make statutory rape sound so good.
Eric Hutchinson > Jason Mraz....
thank u pandora!
I agree. I don't really like the song, so when I heard this version, it was definitely better. If you watch All Over Now by the same creator as this one, his comment about this song is so hilarious.
can you put up the whole album? please?
PANDORA ! thx
I Love Eric Hutchinson <3
lol @ the ending >.<
Love his music!
steal it from the internet like a normal person.
@TiggerRah yes.... apparently you have no manners either... you must run your mouth during performances too ??? he's just calling them out for being rude. if you think that is rude then stay inside
it skips from 4:23 to 4:25???? # mind boggled
@kates430 Really? She was only drinking soda!
I love this song but am I the only one who thinks he's rude at the end?
can you upload food chain
I love this song! me and my friend just covered an eric hutchinson song, please check it out!!!!
@2282steven yes and no. They both have AMAZING songs but billy joel is a legend and has an incredible voice. Eric is great too just not as mature in his voice yet. if ya know what I mean? Both GREAT artists though.
I LOVE this song and I agree he is VERY talented with his song writing and he has a nice voice, just wish he had better vocal control. If Jason Mraz sang this there's a possibility that it could be one of my new favorite songs.
@nokorruption literally thought the same exact thing about Demitri Martin.
Why does this guy not have a freaking contract!!!! I need him to get a contract so my friends who are stuck in main stream music dont think im crazy.. I just found this guy randomly but holy crap hes talented!! hope the best for him!! the ending is great!!!!!
I love this song :D
@anythingxevrything couldn't have said it better my self
nobody had sex with anyone, im sure all these excellent artists jason, james and gavin , theyre are all their own person. as is eric hutchinson so lets just listen to the damn instead of talking about orgy's and i think theyd agree with me , becuase saying tthat an artist sounds like someone else can be offensive.
i've listened to this song at least 100 times in the past 2 days. I listen to this while doing homework or just whenever I'm at my computer. Without it, I would most likely die :D
Eric Hutchinson \m/
love his voice- the lyrics of this song are questionable...
this song is really catchy but DEFINITELY about statutory rape. just FYI
i just found this dude today .. and I'm already wanting to see him in concert!!
what album is this specific song and the rest of his live versions from, and where can i buy it?
This is very original and creative! Something the music out there is lacking nowadays.
@cten07 - actually, as a musician, and after watching Eric, I KNOW he feels the same - that ALL of his songs are either influenced by - or are EXACTLY the SAME as...MANY other 'pop' songs out there - there's only so many chord structures you can create; that's the point Eric makes by playing his 'medley' pieces - showing the 'origins' of his songs....but i TOTALLY agree that he has one DAMN unique voice, musicianship - and is basically a genius in my personal opinion! the guy LOVES his music. :)
im picking up a little bit of stevie wonder, michael jackson, and michael buble! its amaziiiiinggg!
The sad part about this song is that neither of the purchasable versions of this song are even worth listening to compared to this.
Come to DC please! :)
@CloudStarxXx I think that is because on this was recorded at one of his concerts. On Pandora, it plays a few minutes prior to this song starting on another song. He actually told them all to cheer and pretend that they know the song, because it was a new song to the audience. At first, they cheered too early, so apparently he was going to give them a head cue. That's why he sounds so sarcastic when he says 'Oh, you know this one!'
@anythingxevrything where have i heard that before?
@anythingxevrything i thought the same exact thing when i first heard him about him having sounding a little like MJ.
Does anyone know where can I get this acoustic/live version of "Outside Villanova"?
eric hutchinson is so... ah this man is just extraordinary!
@anythingxevrything def hearing the michael jackson
LOL. i love him.
Finally a guy who doesn't care about making it in the big city. Just chillin' out with piano or guitar.. No band, no studio acquired. Pure music! Go go go! Spread it Eric!
wow thanks anyhtingxeverything youve clearly proven he isnt a purebred
@anythingxevrything is cause he likes to mix his soul side like mj and stevie with his acoustic funk :) i definately do x
(: puts me in a good mood
If you like Eric Hutchinson, you should check out The City Series, an indie/singer-songwriter band from Minneapolis. Their MySpace url is thecityseries, or check out their Facebook page.
this is niceeee <3 love it :D
yes exaclty!!
I love his style and voice, he is really unique
Not Mraz at all...Sounds like Douglas James.
@anythingxevrything
He actually did a duet on an MJ song while he was touring with Kelly Clarkson
no jason mraz at all
yeh if you kind of squint! thats awesome!
it looks like a aligator in the background
ha yeah, im hearing a little mj in here
i thought exactly the same about the thingh with michael jackson! =D
but i love his voice..especially the higher tones
bit at the end funny as.
it is all planned in the begging he tells them what is going to happen... no one knows the song there but he tells them to cheer with a head que.
