Hunters & Collectors - Say Goodbye Lyrics
Well just the other night I come home
After three months of constant grind and travel
And I went snivelling
I went crawling around to my girlfriend's house
And she came down hard upon me
And she said
She said: "You don't make me feel... like I'm a woman... anymore
And you don't make me feel like I'm a woman any more
You don't make me feel like I'm a woman any more
And I know
I know it's been a long time
Seems like it's been go-ing on forever
And my heart
My heart is beating
It's beating too big for the space that's meant to hold it
So good-night
Goodnight my little lovely
As we turn
As we turn down the lights
Say good-bye
Goodbye to the naked truth
Your skin is looking weary
And your eyes are closing down on the day
I know, I know it's been a long time
Seems like it's been going on forever
But just as black is white
Yeah and just as night is day
The light is going to leave you
And you're gonna fade away
So goodnight, goodbye my lovely
As we turn, as we turn down the lights
Say goodnight, goodnight to the naked truth
Your skin is looking weary
And your eyes are closing down on the day

Thanks lads. Still majestic tunes.
The brass offers shades of The Saints track Know Your Product.
Right, good point.
1:22 Hot Hits 3XY Billboard over Mark's shoulder.
One of the best gigs I ever saw. H&C at the Tivoli in Sydney in the late 80’s
Yes kids, Sydney once had a thriving nightlife and live music scene with great venues
These guys are great because they say it how it is. Thank you!!!!!!! Peter Garrett- you went through hell as a 'politician' but you are right and always have been. Say it with song!!!!! Sorry for how the last 20 years treated truthsayers...but you guys are so right. And you rock!!!!
garrett should never have entered politics, labour party eat their own and he was too innocent
I was 19
973 likes...what...there must be another vid. A song with full on grunt, love the brass section, love the guitar, the beat, and rich, rugged vocals from mark seymour, backed up by the ladies. Thank you Hunters & Collectors...reminds me of The Night Train in Broken Hill circa '88.
Fuck off
Great way to start the night, great music to get a party going, one of the best
The only problem I have with this song is that when I turn up the volume to max, it's still not loud enough.
Favorite song when I was 12. Still rocks freakin hard
I remember FUCKING to this song HAHA THOSE horns
the HIDDEN brought me here
the bass makes this sound rock at its best
Brings back memories of the super hot Claudia Christian as the stripper with the BIG GUN in the 1987 film The Hidden. Anyone remember that?
Just watched it again this past weekend and Shazam'd this song.
greatest Aussie band ever! bar none!!!! no, not Cold Chisel.
Guy Pearce really can rock out.
hahaha solid call
If he had bought a Japanese Mazda he wouldn't of had all these problems :D
Awesome memories, brilliant words wonderful band !! Oh the memories xxx
Ok im from sydney........this is one of the
I would be scared.....awesome song tho
Saw these guys at a pub in NZ late 80s, one of the best gigs i ever been to.
There is no way on this earth that Mark Seymour would not make any woman feel like a woman 🤤
deb thats funny..hes a nice guy too..the ultimate anti bogan band. cheers
I bought the DVD and IM REALLY PISSED VIRTUALLY ALL THE VIDEOS just like this upload ARE MONO AND NONE HAVE BEEN RESTORED LIKE STEREOMUSICVIDEO. Cmon Gudinski give us a fucking excuse.
Nice apartment.
"You don't make me feel like I'm a woman any more!" Is this the new Hannah Mouncey AFL song? They have used Holy Grail!
34 people came here looking for beiber.
The Hidden :) !
Is this song out of place in 2018? I don't think so.
She said, u don't make me feel like a woman anymore........
THE HIDDEN
Anywhere else here because of the movie THE HIDDEN? That's how I got here. One of my favorite movies ever.
He is such a Man.
that HD would be worth good coin these days
Hell yes. I’d have that old HD Holden even though it’s broken down. Wonder whether Mark Seymour got her going!
I remember a workmate of mine going to see H&C at the "Hilly" in Hamilton, NZ in the late '80s and telling how some punks had been body slamming and one of them had cracked his head open and bled heaps all over my mates shirt, which he hadn't known until his girlfriend pointed it out later. Felt really envious that I'd missed such a decent gig! Fast forward to about 1995-96. Hunters and Collectors back in Hamtown, I wasn't gonna miss them again!!!..... Back at the good ol' Hillcrest Tavern [which was the varsity/uni students pub]. They were bloody awesome, sounded better'n their albums, got the crowd into a whirling dervish of a dancing mess, almost did a whole 'nother set of encores cos we wouldn't let them go. H & C were always well loved on this side of the ditch, and justifiably so! 1 'o' the best live bands eva! [Shoulda been bigger than they were, even].
Fave Hunters song .. BEST LIVE BAND EVER!! INCREDIBLE LIVE SOUND!!!
All this fuzz over a loose battery terminal
Not being familiar with the in and outs of the recording industry, could someone tell me why there are no big selling bands with a brass section anymore? Just reading these comments proves there is still a huge audience available for a record company to give it a run.
What a spunk ,,
Whoa, this takes me way back, loved this song as a teen, went to see them in Collingwood after this album was released, was under-age and had to finagle my way in. They played this song, Mark Seymour noting that it was a tricky one to play live. Great band that somehow managed to be unpretentious with a french horn. Great bass guitarist. Talking to a Stranger is another great early song of theirs.
my youth just came back .... fleetingly, A great Aussie band
Ahh a misspent Melbourne 80s youth.
Well, the 80's, best decade ever.
wow blast from the past...how good is that....
That how a Bass should be played! :)
I miss them...
I'm 26 from Texas, USA. Getting into a lot of Australian rock, I'm digging this! So much of the rock from Australia actually sounds like ROCK, not rubbish.
Love from ' Brisbane ' Queensland, Land down under.!!!! Hoy, Hoy, Hoy
@Jeffrey Curtis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKmx12kIs-I
I was in Copell Dallas in 87 and I agree
grew up with this in New Zealand - better than our bands then!
you have taste.
Pure Gold, thanks Mark
Still gives me motivation, kick start even, good times.
A Fender Telester-driven riff, of an inimitable type, fused into a deceptively sympathetic female vocal and Salvation Arny-meets-Music Hall-meets-Stax Records brass contingent,..what's to grizzle and be cranky about ?
If he gave up cleaning his hands with that rag, and concentrated on fixing the HR, he might be on his way, instead of standing on the side of the road wingeing about his bitch.
I was gunna say that.
if he had bought a vw beetle or a porsche instead of a bloody holden he would not be stopped on the side of the road with mechanical problems complaining about his woman.mind you sax sounds good!
Nah. He would have just died in a fire when an HR rear ended him.
Amen brother. I like the song and got the album(that's right, album) but his hands aren't getting dirty at all. Quit posing and fix that f*cker
ANSPS49AV1 that's funny. I love the song but c'mon and start the farming car
Always an intense brass section, fucking great.
They just don't make songs like this anymore.
So Hot !
Hunters are always collecting
Ormond college that is damn spell check
To remind college, doctor, lawyer, fine arts, Inner city chardonnay socialism, i was there
The whole brogan thing was irony
You had to see them live in the day....Videos never did them justice..filled my heart with joy!
+Boneidol82 Saw them at this flash place on george st once, they played the coogee bay a lot as well, think I saw them there as well.
+Boneidol82 You said it! First real rock band I ever saw live—in Calgary, Canada, where I grew up—and I haven't seen anything better since!
mmmm odd?
This songs was bloody awesome live - the Brass section & the worlds biggest joint - happy days indeed!!
I love it.... all these posts with Aussie pride! Reiterates how lucky I am to be an Australian :)
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi
When Hunters & Collectors went totally bogan - complete with wife-beaters and slabs of VB.
Crap then. Crap now.
+You're A Lifesaver I have searched far and wide, deep down an Everest heights. never has there ever been a better comment. You deserve Australian of the year! If it so happens you are not honorary then! Enjoy brother!
+You're A Lifesaver thanks so much for making this comment. I feel like you're my soulmate
Wanker actually
It's an HD
I reckon its a HR
Andrew, look at the grill you can see it is set back when you compare it to the fender near the head light, also you can just make out the tail light rap around on the rear left hand side. This is an HD. If you compare with the HR you find the grill is flush with the fender and the tail light does not wrap around. Check out the links, BTW I owned one of these back in 1975

@IIIPronGIII Youre right Prong, absolutely HD (the predecessor to the HR). Other than the HD's protruding front fenders, round headlight surrounds, upwards bumpers, square wraparound rear tail lights, the other quick identifier is the indicators on the HR are round and placed in the front grill next to headlamps. On HD theyre on lower front panel under the bumper and rectangular.
you know I was thinking about a violin...well I do play the mandolin. And now, now I want a big bass guitar!
Absolute classic!
could be a hd not a hr
Wow someone got a hold of my account??? Never have I said social fuck witts about anyone!!!!!! Bad!! I love this band!!!! have it on loop I shall.xxxxxx Best look up my account and see who is swearing!!!!!mmm
Scotch Colledge tumbler!! get your gear up for a revival!!
This is meant to be funny but meaningful for all you social fuck wittts
This is the essence of Australia, Holdens, rust, sweat, dirt, a ballsy band with no comparison-they just don't make 'em like this anymore. So glad i got to see them in their prime in The Bridge Club, Richmond -many times. Thank u guys, u rocked my world-literally.
sure is.broken down holden
In all fairness, North American Chevrolets are equally reliable.
Bogan music for bogans.
No not Bogan music. And not just for Bogans. Though they do have a big Bogan following unfortunately.
I'll bet u weren't even born when these guys were in their prime.
@Neil Mitchell - Her age - and related knowledge - are definitely not the problem with her understanding. It's her willingness to believe the baseless critiques of idiots who clearly don't understand the principles that this band shouted out, loud and clear, in song after song. Bogans needed to actually listen to the lyrics and consider the musicianship of 'the Hunters'.
Kumiko is more accurately described as a 'twit'.
Music for music lovers
The Horns of Discontent carry the song.
* The Horns of contempt
not the same version they play on 96fm..
Yeah, they play the living end's cover of this song from a tribute album called "Crucible - The songs of hunters and collectors". The only place I could find that version of the song is on spotify
Aussie pub rock at its best. counting the days to the hunters (one of the top three aussie live bands ta see) and the boss in melb.
Can't wait to see them at the Palais, St Kilda in April
YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I grew up listening to Hunters and saw them live countless times.Great Aussie band! One of those bands that are even better live:D
The lack of separate parking lights says is an hd.
Yeeeeeeeehhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaa
Sorry tough guy, forgot this was a ford, my bad
HR don't have pointed front gaurds, they don't have parking lights that sit under the bumper bar in the beaver panel, HR parking lights are set in the front grill adjacent to the headlights, you can not see HR taillights side because they only face the back, HD taillights you see from the side and the back because they are pointed, also there front grills are different. you need to have a closer look at the video and the car before you talk shit.
Well, that is just what you do, ain't it?
That would have been a great name for a punk band, the Dumbcunts!
its a HR you dumbcunt
saw them at the uni bar in wellington NZ when i was 17 (got in somehow). farkin unreal gig, seymour grinding his axe, white singlet, sweaty, unrelenting, awesome aussie rock band. still love this song.
HD holden ;)
I cant find 99th Home Position on youtube!!
i love the contrasts at the beginning of the white shirt and white HR Holden against the black skies and black road with a dead brown field
I used to root to this song 1945
Rage, rage, rage!
pulling the radiator out when he only run out of fuel
First heard this lp back in 1987. A great song, great album. Human Frailty. A must recording.
that some was a trivia question the other night...I so remenber this clip!. got the opening bass line and the chorus (who wouldn't), but couldn't remember the title..oh the shame. More clips with old Holdens PLEASE!
then he would be a falcon idiot...lol
Confidential Number: Whatever. The first woman I had extended and experimental sex with, relaxed and comfortable, come back tomorrow and the next day. I could get used to not getting used to this. Digging the fact she was having as much fun as me. She said, you make me feel like a woman. I was startled. I can do that? Show me how I do that, EXACTLY.
You, sir, are a spinout!
Under rated musicians. Great song!
@coboltblue75 TOO TRUE! God I miss the 80's...
Should have bought a Falcon...
