Humble Pie - Teenage Anxiety Lyrics

And if my time would serve me well
Oh what a story I could tell
About the places that I've seen
And the people that I've been

It's tough out there
It's rough out there
I'm beginning to think I've had enough out there
It's tough out there
It's rough out there
It ain't what we been told out there

They shot my hero in the street
And as I sing the world still weeps

  1. T.... D....

The critics who trash this album are soulless shits who program classic rock radio.

First heard this on his tour bus before it's release, when he played it for we his guests. Couldn't get it out of my head since.

@Liam MacBeth how cool it must have been ti actually hang out with him for a bit....my hero.

    L.... M....

He was very cool. He was humble which is not a pun. He came to our band's jam and cookout in nowheresville on an off day from a tour, and was like one of the guys. He sat in with my band one night at a gig and sang "5 Long Years" in this small club he sang part of it with no mic, he could really belt it out! It was very cool hanging and jamming w a rock star that didn't act like one at all. He was hurt by Lennon's assassination and wrote this song. Lennon was my hero. Steve was my hero too.

    L.... M....

that is SO cool...I knew THIS one was about Lennon, and im sure there were other songs written about Lennon's murder, (HE was another HERO of mine too) but THIS one has to be the best- EAT IT has been my favorite record since i was 13, and i love this incarnatiion of the PIE the best of all..Small.Faces too...-cheers-

Nice! I met him on my 18th birthday in 1986, outside the venue totally tripping balls with a friend of mine. Smoking joints and having a laugh, when up rolled this tricked out Bedford van and out jumped the man himself and his Packet of Three. We had a chat and that made what was going to be a fantastic night 10,000 times better. I met him a few more times after that, at one gig I thought I was going to the gents but ended up in the dressing room. I apologised for barging in, I was invited in for a drink and a reefer. That was the best experience any Small Faces / Humble Pie could ever have.
27 years ago April 21st. I remember waking up, putting on the radio and Tin Soldier and Itchycoo Park played together, without comment from the DJ, I knew he was gone. R.I.P Steve Marriott, the best white soul & bluesman that ever walked this earth.

@mrwoodrow No it's not on Street rats.. it's on "Go For The Throat" I'm pretty sure,, one of the reformed "Humble Pie" albums.. although Steve could have really called any band he was in "Humble Pie" I think without Shirley and Ridley it wouldn't have been.gotta love Greg's vocal growl... I'd say Tim Hinkley became an honorary member near the end tho..
PS woodrow.. If you still have that cassette of 'rats" pleez pretty pleez lemme now if you'd sell it..!
    Doc Rock

this songs truly resonates so many feelings I have had thoughout my life. My father in law truly loved it when I first played it for him, he grew up in this era but never heard it, but you could see it in his face how much the words represents truth in his coming of age in the 60's and 70's.

  15. C.... M....

    excellent!

  16. a.... ....

    Great voice !!!

  19. d.... ....

I really believe that Steve meant it when he sang "if i had my time to live again, I guess I do it just the same". And, why not! We wouldn't want it any other way except for Steve to stil be alive and rockin!!!!

  20. b.... ....

    I loved the 70's !:D
