Humble Pie - Let Me Be Your Lovemaker Lyrics

Let me be your lovemaker
Let me be your soul shaker
Let me be your lovemaker
Let me be your soul shaker

Around this time last summer
When you and I first met
I thought I was cool
Living by the rules
Trying to play hard to get

So you found some good-time guy
To give you the love you needed
I didn't know a thing
About what thrills love could bring
I was young, selfish, and conceited

I know you don't think I'm ready
But open your eyes and see
As sure as my heart is beating
I can love away your misery

Let me be your lovemaker
Let me be your soul shaker
Let me be your lovemaker
Let me be your soul shaker

I know you don't think I'm ready
But open your eyes and see
As sure as my heart is beating
I can love away your misery

Let me be your lovemaker
Let me be your soul shaker
Let me be your lovemaker
Let me be your soul shaker

About this time last year
I was blind to all the good things you said
The sweet words you spoke
I took them for a joke
Though they were strong enough to raise the dead

So you thought you'd wasted
Both your time and mine
But now I'm ready to do what you want me to
I'm your man and I ain't lyin'

Let me be your lovemaker
Let me be your soul shaker
Let me be your lovemaker
Let me be your soul shaker

Humble Pie Let Me Be Your Lovemaker Comments
  1. M.... G....

Humble Pie was a unit, they worked together and egos did not get in the way, each member was free to put as much input into the band as they had to give. Greg Ridley has a powerhouse voice with grit. Steve and Peter encouraged him to share the front as much as he wanted. This tune is an example of Greg at his best. When he was with Spooky Tooth, he didn't have that freedom. Tis why in spite of Spooky Tooth's success, Greg found it easy to team up with Steve Marriott, for Steve appreciated him, his bass playing AND vocals.

Will have to check out the Betty Wright and let you know.

  4. T.... B....

Wow! Only knew this song from a live Foreigner album. Very different. Both great jams.

    T.... B....

You should hear the ORIGINAL version by Betty Wright.

I’ve i always thought Ridley had a great rock voice but rarely hear his solo. Pie were at their best when they were balanced and with Frampton. Featuring Marriott too much hurt the band.

Cinci Litigator Jerry,s the drummer, Gregg's the bassist, Pete's the lead guitar, and Steve is the singer. There's no other way it could be.

Sounds like Vintage KISS! The 'Pie has been a stepping stone for so many greats, never had the recognition they deserved. But Steve shouldn t have lost it.. Another great Rock Drama

Paul Stanley said he patterned Kiss musically after Pie. Brad Whitford joined Aerosmith because he thought they could be an American version of HP. Yeah, baby.
