Humble Pie - Bang! Lyrics

Here's your news report
I'm your straight face for today
Sorry if it's short
But I have to get away
And be sick
First the powers that be
Line their pockets with your bread
And it's not too hard to see
That you're worth more to them dead
Don't you know the taxman
Mourns you to the nearest bank
You're news report
You're news report
And it's short, short, short
I want to know why people die
Because they've been forgotten
It's you callin' fallin'
And if you're young, son, you're the one
To lead us into Hades
And if you're shot dead, then you're called brave
As they shove you down your grave
And nothing is saved
While you're growing fat
Wiping gravy off your sleeve
There's a child who like a rat
Would cry and beg for what you leave
Oh but you won't be deceived by what you fear
And you can't be diseased by what you fear
You're news report
You're news report
And it's short, short, short

Humble Pie Bang! Comments
  1. H.... ....

    Fantastic band.

  2. A.... M....

    Killer!!!

  3. M.... R....

Un combo de músicos creativos que vivían por la música!! 🎼, Peter frampton, etc, una maravilla de banda....

  4. G.... F....

Love humble pie, but this video is giving me an headache, i feel like it was made for people high on drugs.

    G.... F....

    yeah, it's great, innit!

    G.... F....

@tim rundall i think the video is awful, but each to their own.

  5. d.... k....

    great rock`n`roll music, godawful video.

  6. T.... S....

    God, this song rocks!!

  7. W.... M....

Humble Pie.....They were short lived.....They were so good.....Pure talent, emotion and presence.....

    W.... M....

Not as short lived as the Small Faces, in fact versions of the band have existed right up to now however dubious some of them may seem - do you discount the 2nd version of the band with Clem? If not then why discount later versions? Short lived should, perhaps, read 'long lived'. I agree with everything else you said.

  8. C.... ....

This sounds like a shitty White Stripes or any random hipster garage rock song. Sure Marriot is great but this song is an obvious example of why HP weren't a huge band.

  9. p.... c....

    peter Frampton on lead guitar!

    p.... c....

Not Frampton- already left. Clem Clemson.

  10. G.... D....

I heard Peter Frampton and Steve Marriot were discussing a reunion before Steve died.

  11. K.... S....

Now that's what I call a rock video.

  12. J.... G....

this is great...how come ive never heard of this song...didnt the lead singer have issues with drugs
...wasnt he stealing money from the band

  13. P.... G....

Great song, great band, Awful video.

  14. W.... S....

    Sreve = Humble Pie

  15. K.... H....

No wonder it's rare - makes you sick. The music is great though....

  16. W.... ....

A few people have dissed the camera work in this- however I think it's a HIGHLY creative video, especially for the time. Who was making stuff like this back then? Remember- there was really no outlet for it- this was many years before even MTV, never mind the Internet.

  17. s.... j....

    damn, this song kicks ass.

  18. j.... a....

    that wuz fuckin' trippy.

  19. F.... W....

The 360 camera is cool but way overused.

  20. C.... G....

    The cameraman needs a beating.

  21. E.... A....

They were so far ahead of their time, including this video.

  22. p.... l....

Boy this would have been a head kicker if the cameraman knew how to film movement. One of the best bands in Rock History...

  23. L.... S....

This has got to be their like best song ever

  24. s.... ....

The Pie were the mutts nuts, weren't they? One of the great all time live bands and every show as a gas, as Steve would say. A magical lineup and a shame they didn't say together for longer than they did.

  25. D.... M....

Are you sitting comftybowl 2 square on your botty? Then lets begin....

  26. T.... L....

First time I've hear this. Sure is a treat, Thanks

  27. c.... ....

what a dark future these guys had/ have
    they have my admiration

  28. r.... s....

    THIS IS SICKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKk

  29. r.... s....

TRUUMP SELLING A BUNCH OF SHIT?

  30. r.... s....

    Sell you ??????????????????????

  31. r.... s....

SORRY YOU FEEL THAT STIR FRY FAT ASS!

  32. r.... s....

BAD ASS* .."Ain't no common Road-kill"??????????????????******************

  33. S.... ....

See...they were doing the Shaky-Cam effect back in the seventies. Its nothing new.

  34. D.... ....

Great track! Shit filming, spinning round & round the stage. Makes you dizzy!

Shot in GERMANY by the looks!

  35. U.... D....

    Godamn Rcck Marriot!

  36. S.... N....

    Steve Marriott - never bettered

  37. J.... G....

Universal, Timeless Truth. I saw Steve in a pub in upstate New York on New Years Eve. He was cutting it up! Great show!

  38. C.... ....

I would like to obtain some version of it

    C.... ....

    It's on this disc https://fan-clubvideo.com/store/humble-pie-for-your-love/

    C.... ....

FanClub Video thank you so much

  39. C.... ....

  40. J.... E....

    Da pesadíssima!!!!!!!!

  41. J.... M....

wow! never saw this before. Humble Pie making a big commotion. Thank you.

  42. J.... H....

    Marriott is the best !

  43. s.... ....

Thanks for this rarely seen upload - brill!

  44. M.... D....

Steve was a powerhouse and creative genius he left us great music to enjoy for a 100 yrs

  45. J.... N....

I've always liked Ridley's playing on his P bass.

  46. G.... S....

i got me the motion sickness

    G.... S....

Unwatchable! The cameraman has lost his mind...my brain feels like it's capsized.

  47. v.... ....

Marriott and Frampton were great together, when Peter left they started going down hill. They did Smokin' which was a great record, but they just declined after that. Steve had the best voice in Rock ever, in my Humble opinion. (Pun absolutely intended)

    v.... ....

    The Blackberries were awesome!

    v.... ....

Eat it was a great album and after Peter left they got a legit lead player, "The bitch". Their live albums fully surpassed anything they recorded in the studio.

  48. c.... ....

    pretty good song

  49. S.... ....

    You The Man Steve!

  50. p.... ....

easily be on side 1 ogdens nut gone lp

  51. T.... J....

I've never seen this promo film before! This is amazing!

  52. b.... ....

    Fucked up camera work.

  53. m.... ....

Whatever...but paul stanley of kiss was a huge humble pie fan.

  54. m.... ....

    Marriott is GOD!

    m.... ....

    modsheff1 Aa

    m.... ....

    Pretty much.

    m.... ....

    And better.

  55. R.... R....

when in '76 Frampton was touring his live LP he wasn't watching where he was come and proceeded to walk straight off stage. When crawling back onstage 20+ thousand of us were treated to Frampton mooning us. Sadly no camera phones in 1976.

    R.... R....

God damn, imagine him and Steve Marriot partying together. I couldn't handle it.

    R.... R....

You are referring to Colt Park Concert Series in Hartford, CT - August 1976. The bill was Gary Wright and headliner Peter Frampton (both were managed by Dee Anthony/Bandanna at the time). This was Peter's first evening concert of the summer tour and the lip of the stage was not taped yellow to demarcate stage from photo/security pit. Frampton comes out waving to crowd and dropped right off the stage. Pulled back up to stage, apologized and went right into the intro acoustic set. Rumor was he had slight bruised ribs and split britches to boot!

  56. m.... ....

Great song. Paul Stanley of kiss gives humble pie and Marriott a thumbs up as one of his influences

    m.... ....

Kiss couldn't hold Humble Pie's old whiskey bottles!

    m.... ....

Kiss could have swept the hall and saved the make up.

  57. N.... ....

amazing cinematography. you want your film to look like the point of an eye? some people dont get it.

  58. c.... ....

    Shit man, good post!

  59. B.... P....

why is rock in 00s shit   I am 37 year old rocker who loves 60s rock and thrash metal

    B.... P....

Well I know that, it's just that nowadays other people think that way, maybe it's not like that in England and America, but in Croatia thats the way they think, if you are not exactly like them, you are not with them.

    B.... P....

Luka Mičić when I was a kid I listened to bob Dylan and used to get the piss ripped out of me but now guess what. All my mates who took piss are listening to them and I always get asked questions about this band and that band. You will get the last laugh buddy so u just keep listening to what turns u on. I'm actually surprised u here listening to one of the best singers and live performers ever imo who was in the music industry. AWESOME. Check out Rory Gallagher "shin kicker best live performance" on YouTube I think that will turn u on to one of the best guitarists EVER. Ask any rock star and he always gets mentioned. A musicians musician. He never went really commercial as he stuck to his roots. Check it out and let me no if that turns u on. If u have blood pumping through your body it should. Have a good one and u keep listening to all these great bands from 60s 70s

    B.... P....

I am a big rory  fan  check out rush and   stappen wolf   barry

    B.... P....

Barry Pattison I know them al bro

    B.... P....

no you not man you just like good rock

  60. B.... P....

    this  rocks   the 60s rock

  61. R.... L....

This should have been a HUGE hit single for them......

  62. T.... R....

All that snow, love Britain! Could be in for another one this year. As an imaginary impersonator of a fictitious Lord Lucan said "Nobody else has bladdy weather do they old boy."

  63. R.... R....

I have been enjoying Steve's music for well over 30 years, and hes quite familiar to me, but sometimes I cant help notice he looks like Jimmy from H.R. Puffinstuff.

    R.... R....

Well, they were both Artful Dodgers.

    R.... R....

..and both from the East End!

    R.... R....

Radio Rob lol! I never thought of that but Hey you're right

    R.... R....

God, I'm glad it's not just me!!!!

    R.... R....

    Radio Rob
I think the makers of that program were certainly puffin a lot of stuff.

  64. t.... m....

Go on Steve, show em you still got some.

    t.... m....

He Neva really lost it he always had it. No offence intended my man. Kool

    t.... m....

    @Jamie Wood Make you right.

  65. P.... ....

All subtlety out of the win dow, and ready for some gud ol'fashioned southern rawk'n rall y'all.....
No facking wonder Frampton jumped ship....

  66. C.... ....

    Shweeky

  67. g.... ....

Another tasteless videographer / editor.getting in the way.

  68. G.... ....

Wow Quality of film is amazing. Too bad the camera man was Drunk when this was recorded.

  69. S.... R....

Seems like the same camera crew that did Cream's last concert.  What a waste.

    S.... R....

No shit, what if this video was recorded correctly? Couldve made them superstars! People's ignorance is incredible

    S.... R....

@Graysons Motozone Humble Pie were superstars. How old are you?

    S.... R....

Brian Hammer let me rephrase that, they couldve been spoke in the sane sentance as led zeppelin and the rolling stones. Grand funk railroad was bigger than zeppelin and the stones but arent remembered like the others.

  70. E.... ....

Fucking camera stay quiet in one place!

  71. S.... &....

This was my favorite song from the "Lost and Found" 2 record A&M reissue set. A Christmas present in the 1970's. Merry Christmas.

  72. J.... B....

    I am Dizzy!!!

    J.... B....

Terrible filming!! Everyone was stoned back then! :)

    J.... B....

LOL, I am sure they were!!

    J.... B....

@Pudsy440 It's from an "art film" - lots of great bands on the series but unfortunately it produced very unpleasant visuals.

    J.... B....

    @Justin Burkett You Too!!

    J.... B....

J.L Burkett omg what art film is this i need to watch it wows

  73. T.... o....

BANG ! pieseň skupiny HUMBLE PIE, ktorej autorom bol gitarista a spevák STEVIE MARRIOT. Pochádzala z albumu AS SAFE AS YESTERDAY IS, ktorý bol v UK rebríčku od 6. septembra 1969 týždeň na 32.m.

  74. J.... W....

    Classic!!!!

  75. b.... ....

    who's on piano? Nicky Hopkins?

    b.... ....

Steve or Peter on the record

  76. R.... ....

    100 mega tons of TNT

  77. P.... S....

Can't find another swaggering Bad Ass Mf like Steve no more.  Steve & Humble rules

  78. S.... S....

Great but pic goes half way - Bill Graham filmed everything, where is Fillmore May '71? What a prize that would be!!

  79. s.... ....

Sounds like they ripped off JETT

    s.... ....

What is a JETT? Were they around before 1970, then maybe. Humble Pie was a straight forward rock band that had a hint of blues.

  80. M.... K....

Whatever happen to good Rock-n-Roll like this?

    M.... K....

That's a demonstrably ignorant statement because you skip over the era when rock ossified and the era after that when punk reacted to the fossilization of music. No governments involved, but tastes CHANGE. If they didn't, there would have been no Humble Pie in the first place.

All is transient. Don't be sad it's gone, be glad it happened.

  81. T.... C....

i think im so in love w steve

  82. g.... ....

Jeez, I should have taken Dramamine before watching this. What is with this camera work?! Love the Pie though...

  83. c.... w....

    Humble Pie greats.

  84. S.... F....

Wow, first time I've seen this, why is it so much stuff isn't available at the time, Humble Pie may be gone but never forgotten in this head.

  85. B.... G....

Awesome stuff.... from the baddest r&r band

  86. G.... W....

Great song lads, but a lesson learned about sharing that joint with the camera crew.

  87. r.... ....

Steve is great here. Well, everywhere actually.

  88. r.... ....

WHAT A FUCKIN' BADDASS SONG! Cover? Reminds me of a dylan song or somethin' from a Love album... Pissed and loud. Didn't know this tune. Glad to now. Thanks!.

    r.... ....

@kat Mats yes I do have the CD...

    r.... ....

    @kat Mats
Your right, I do need my glasses. I replied to by mistake. I beg your forgiveness. All the best.

    r.... ....

@kat Mats Now I know why I inadvertently replied to you by mistake. I wanted to reply to Rankoutsider but when I try it will always open a box under your name for some reason so I guess I will have to forget about it. Sorry again.

    r.... ....

@goldshel shelly Peace , we all make a mistake here and there .Have a good day and enjoy any Humble Pie or The Small Faces CD's you may have in your collection.

    r.... ....

    rankoutsider said "cover"?

  89. B.... ....

The guy that did the video work for Cream's farewell concert must have been hired for this gig. BIG MISTAKE! Absolutely nauseating...

  90. F.... R....

    Frampton and that white SG....

  91. w.... ....

    Fkin idiot camerman

  92. S.... A....

this is great ! = ) too show the younger era kids that we rock it as hard they do today!!!!!

  93. J.... M....

loved Marriott in the Small Faces, then again in Humble Pie ...

  94. J.... M....

hard to hear Itchycoo Park and not remember skipping school listening to that song on the (friend's car) radio, singing along!

  95. R.... ....

Yeah, Humble Pie is the shit. If you really want authentic bells you know theres always ebay. Then again, you could take some jeans to any alteration shop in town, thats what I did.

  96. J.... ....

because, he never was comercial, but real and pure Rockn'Roll

  97. 6.... ....

All I can Say is KICK ASS TUNE...

  98. 6.... ....

    100% Right there brianofoz....

  99. d.... ....

    he's da man,....took 2 to replace him

  100. b.... ....

How did Steve Marriott not get the same sort of fame as someone like Rod Stewart when he had so much more ability and one of the greatest voices?
