Howlin' Wolf - Moanin' At Midnight Lyrics

Well, somebody knocking on my door
Well, somebody knocking on my door
Well, I'm so worried, don't know where to go

Well, somebody calling me, calling on my telephone
Well, somebody calling me, over my telephone
Well, keep on calling, tell them I'm not at home

Howlin' Wolf Moanin' At Midnight Comments
  1. M.... G....

Nobody will ever howl like Wolf

  2. s.... ....

How could possible someone dislike this?

  3. E.... ....

The story goes that Sam Phillips heard something special in the song, that no one else heard, and recorded the man, even though the equipment was half-functional (listen to the distortion of the guitar). He considered it one of his best early discoveries. Like this or not, it's one of the most important songs in the story of what became Rock and Roll a few years later.

  4. W.... V....

This is supposed to be the first song in music history that has a distorted guitar, so it is a piece of history.

  5. G.... S....

Cap’n Beefheart copped the voice big time.

  6. E.... ....

That amp is pretty overdriven. Sounds years ahead of its time. The voice sounds like it's coming from a tunnel. Very much like Zeppelin on some of their songs.

  7. J.... B....

In 1987 Moanin' in the Moonlight was given a W.C. Handy Award under the category of "Vintage/Reissue Album (US)"

perfection is still perfection when you scale it up - I'm just glad it all exists. Hate to think of the hundreds of times I heard this since I found it 25 years ago. There's probably half my brain imprinted with it

    k.... m....

the production is fucking great too its sounds old, but its very raw and distorted sounds wolf's voice and attitude

    k.... m....

Sam Philips, Memphis, I seem to think - I went to Sun Studios and it is smaller than my local Subway - compare the product

Some guy explaining the methods of 'slapback' and stuff - with all the recording untis and microphones used by Wolf/Elvis/Johnny Cash. When I was there in 2003 you could pay to record there still

There is no bass in this song, just drums, guitar, and the wolf.
