Howlin' Wolf - I'll Be Around Lyrics

Well, I'll be around to see you, baby
Well, I'll be 'round, no matter what you say
Well, I'll be around, yes, I'll be around
To see what you're puttin' down

You know you told me that you loved me
You know you told me and I hope it's true
Well, I'll be around, yes, I'll be around
To see what you're puttin' down

You know I called you in the morning
You know I called you, darling
And send you my prayer
But I'll be around, yes, I'll be around
To see what you're puttin' down

You know I loved you for myself
You know I love you, I don't love nobody else
Well, I'll be around, I'll be around
I don't want you runnin' around

A brilliant voice that can cut you in two! Nobody sings like The Wolf! Self taught and then taught the world!

    BLOCKBUSTER!!! Brilliant!

it was why Ann Rabson of the group Saffire The Uppity Blues Women said,  "I'd hate to be the woman he's singing THAT to".....

The Blues is full of misogynist lyrics...and this is one of the BEST. The delivery is so full of brooding threat, so ferociously sung, and the guitar work intensifies the mood...it's simply matchless. No one can deny the human spirit encompasses the dimension of sexual possessiveness. Wolf's art lays it out there for us to experience vicariously, not calling us to emulate.

@Bluesharp- For better or for worse it conveys a feeling and an attitude. There doesn't need to be any moral commentary on the "Right & Wrong" of misogyny. We are all imperfect creatures.

How'd you like to be the woman on the receiving end of this tune?

    Thank you!
as an Artist I must find songs to slip in between my originals...this one is a rare one.
Gotta straight 12 bar with the phrasing Chester uses is so BEHIND in a GOOD way so many people rush the phrase these days.
I'll be using this one instead of the Cliches like "LOVE ME LIKE A MAN" ALL the chicks get up @ the jams we see'm always do this. It's like the Mustang sally of 12 bar.
Again, Thank You for some Bluses Schoolin' Greentea2000 !
    XOXO's
    Cherry Black
