Houston, Thelma - Fantasy And Heartbreak Lyrics

Sometimes before you know
Just when you think you've got it all together
You're headed for a fall
Until now always and forever
Here I sacrifice just dreaming it could be so nice
Now I will pay the price
Why's it gotta hurt so bad to feel all right?

Just ain't nothing left for me
Living in a fantasy
Nothing but a heartache
Living in a fantasy
Fantasy and heartbreak

Watching you go by
You were never one to break your stride
Oh so satisfied
Make it easy, push it all aside
Our time, our love
Always swinging like a pendulum
It's so sad what's left to see
I never thought that I could feel this way

Just ain't nothing left for me
Living in a fantasy
Nothing but a heartache
Living in a fantasy
Nothing but a heartache
Living in a fantasy
Fantasy and heartbreak

Promises just don't deliver to cure my condition, oh no
I just need something more that I can believe in

There ain't nothing left for me
Living in a fantasy
Nothing but a heartache
Living in a fantasy
Fantasy and heartbreak

@miteyc You are correct! Monte clowned on this on. And yes it was the best track on the CD. Monte also arguably did the best track on Janet Jackson's "Control" with "The Pleasure Principle" as well.

Monte Moir penned this little ditty. He left The Time with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis post Prince era. While Jam & Lewis are rightfully credited with producing an impressive songbook, Monte set Thelma out with this kick-ass number. The 3 of them produced songs for this album but I think this was one of the few times Monte exceeded Jam & Lewis' contribution. And it's such a happy song with that little bit of funk thrown in for extra measure. And before I forget, Thelma laid it down too!
