Hotelier, The - Your Deep Rest Lyrics
"So, while you're fixing up your bed and while you're organizing drawers, could you just listen to the problems had with problems of yours. and What's that note you're writing there? Why are you giving me this back? This was a gift from when we met back when you weren't so upset."
I called in sick from your funeral.
The sight of your body made me feel uncomfortable.
I couldn't recognize your shell.
Your branching off had met an end from all the weight that made you bend.
And When you tried to shed your leaves you pined for warmth as they said
"Your lack of love for your dear self is sapping all of us here out.
Trace your roots back to the ground work out the knotholes for yourself."
I called in sick from your funeral.
The sight of your family made me feel responsible.
And I found the notes you left behind; little hints and helpless cries,
Desperate wishing to be over.
And getting deeper every day.
They diagnosed you born that way.
They say in runs in your family.
A conscious erasure of working class background
Where despair trickles down
Imbalanced chemical crutch. Open up. Swallow down.
You said "remember me for me. I need to set my spirit free."
I called in sick from your funeral.
Tradition of closure nearly felt impossible.
I should have never gave my word to you;
Not a cry not a sound.
Might have learned how to swim but never taught how to drown,
You said "remember me for me". I watched you set your spirit free

Hotelier, The Your Deep Rest Comments
I found a cat outside my porch door and I let it in. I fed it. I gave it warmth. But it started fighting with my other cat so I was forced to let it back outside. It hurt so much. This song helped me a lot
sounds like a pop punk john darnielle!!
I've attempted multiple times, and this song just pierces through me. The accidentally signalling behaviour I unknowingly engaged in. The harsh emotion and torn feeling I would have left behind... Idk man, just something to think about
I hope you're doing better now
The way he sings "Remember me for me" is so fuckin powerful.
Discovered this band yesterday and I listened to the whole album, but this is my favorite song off it. My friend's 5 year anniversary is coming up, so I'm really feeling the pain behind the lyrics.
no one knows, but "we" know
Since a lot off y’all are commenting what brought you here
I was brought here by ARTV’s Seven on Sunday.
Same here :)
So I was googling what the a hotelier was and now I'm here; love when this happens!!!!!!
I swear this song is a COMPLETE masterpiece..the whole album really
Really good lyrics
This makes me think of my best friend who died years ago. And it never fails to break my heart
The more I listen to this song the more it makes sense
people: Helena by MCR is an emo song
me: *links to this song*
me: they're both emo.
@We're All Thieves actually no
@mystupidworld eh, they actually are. Just different generations of emo music. If you disagree, what is your definition of emo music?
Nate my mate sent me. 👍
I called I'm sick from your funeral.... Love this song 2018
A week ago, last Sunday, I was listening to this song and thinking about how I cannot relate to this song because I don't know anyone that has committed. A week later, today, I walked in on my friend after he shot himself with a rifle. I found his body, he was barely breathing, and soon passed away. However; he was not alone, and that is what mattered. June 10th is a date I will never forget, I will miss you, David. It will take a lot of time and healing to work through what I witnessed today, but it is okay. No sympathy for me, just wanted to share.
Hannah Brown Hi I just listen to this song, because my friend recommended it this morning here. Then I read your comment, sending my deep condolences, and positive vibe to you here.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Stay strong Hannah. I'm sorry for your loss
if you can read this i love you 💓
Mother fucker deplorables trash in the w House 🏡
Absolutely beautiful one of the best songs created not acting on impulse
I find this band when i was drunk... That was so awesome!
my suicidal self clings so much to this song. it's as if I expect it to keep me alive.
That was me a few years ago. Luckily now I don't have such heavy bad feelings like that anymore.
How are you doing?
Donnie Napoleao stop taking the words from my lips
it hit close. fuck.
So while you're fixing up your bed
So while you’re organizing drawers
Could you just listen to the problems had with problems of yours?
And what’s that note you’re writing there?
Why are you giving me this back?
This was a gift from when we met back when you weren’t so upset"
[Chorus]
I called in sick from your funeral
The sight of your body made me feel uncomfortable
I couldn’t recognize your shell
[Verse 2]
Your branching off had met an end
From all the weight that made you bend
And when you tried to shed your leaves
You pined for warmth as they said
“Your lack of love for your dear self is sapping all of us here out!
Trace your roots back to the ground, work out the knotholes for yourself”
[Chorus]
I called in sick from your funeral
The sight of your family made me feel responsible
And I found the notes you left behind
Little hints and helpless cries
Desperate wishing to be over
[Verse 3]
You said you’re trapped in your body
And getting deeper every day
They diagnosed you born that way
They say it runs in your family
A conscious erasure of working class background
Where despair trickles down
Imbalanced chemical crutch
Open up, swallow down
You said “remember me for me
I need to set my spirit free”
[Chorus]
I called in sick from your funeral (I called in sick, I called in sick)
Tradition of closure nearly felt impossible (I called in sick, I called in sick)
I should have never gave my word to you
Not a cry, not a sound
Might have learned how to swim
But never taught how to drown
You said “remember me for me"
I watched you set your spirit free
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO HEARS HARVEY FUCKING DANGER HERE? I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS. That's a good thing BTW....
i hear it
Can somebody make a mashup of this and the iCarly theme song?
Max Aronow wtf
😂😂😂
Straight fire
Why does this version sound better then the one that tiny moving parts uploaded?
Its called Tiny Engines and its just more produced
Greatest Emo revival band of the century
HIGHTONEEE Idk Foxing can give them a run for their money lol
Respectfully disagree, but this song is dank af +HIGHTONEE
Markforall what do you offer
I would say its tied with The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die.
Tiny Moving Parts brought me here.
A man of culture, I see
this album could've been the Over the Hedge soundtrack
idk but it makes sense for some reason
Lol,wtf, and that movie has a legitimately enjoyable soundtrack already. I always felt bad the band has their music existing as this background piece of a kids movie, but now I feel worse that you'd take that from from.
What, alongside Ben Folds' Rockin' The Suburbs?
OH MY GOD
Swoozy Duzzyt Gotta Love It over the hedge is okay though
Hey, sorry for being the annoying guys who spam YouTube comments, but we’ve just released our first single “I’d Go Anywhere With You”, and wanna share it with everyone.
We’re Favourite Customer, an alt-rock trio from Scotland, and The Hotelier are our one of our favourite bands and biggest influences, so if you like them, there’s a chance you might like us too.
Head over to our channel if you’d like and tell us what you think!
@Will Seifert yeah i mean i'm totally aware that it's annoying and pointless and nobody cares, but it's expensive af to promote anything on facebook, and it's pretty damn hard to reach a target audience through playing gigs without being able to show them our music beforehand, so every little helps, eh? i mean, unless you've got any better promotion strategies?
+favourite customer agreed to post above, if I see shit like this I will go out of my way to avoid your band at all fucking costs. and I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I don't see anything wrong with this, if you're looking for music you haven't heard before it's cool to see shit like this, if not then just scroll past it, no big deal
Yeah I don't understand why people get so pissy about it. Like it's youtube, who cares? "I will go out of my way to avoid your band at all fucking costs" like jesus christ man why? It's not that big of a deal. It's not like the frontman rapes children or anything.
yo guys just to warn you we released another ep today, so if you wanna 'go out of your way to avoid' us 'at all fucking costs', you'd better start now.
ps thanks guys for the support, just tryna promote without a massive budget/label/local scene <3
New album coming in may!
Martin Shkreli brought me here
ayyyyyy same
blinginlike3p0 These guys went on tour with La Dispute thats how I found out
I don't understand the correlation?
@Swoozy Duzzyt Gotta Love It What's hard to understand about it? He liked this band.
I hear heaps of "There's Nothing Wrong With Love" influence here, anyone else?
I never really liked the "emo revival" of the 2000s, I think the albums that come out recently are much better.
@Floydthefuckbag you mean when it was musically identical to hardcore punk? kek
@AvalonsMessenger
Well if you want to discount the origin of the genre, that would still make the first days of emo the early 90's a decade earlier than he said.
@Floydthefuckbag don't get me wrong, I'm not discounting 1st wave emo, it was essential to the development of emo and a lot of underground indie/rock genres. But I maintain that it's identical to hardcore punk, musically.
Old guy here: I highly recommend you go listen to "Diary" by Sunny Day Real Estate, then for later stuff: The Appleseed Cast "End of Ring Wars" and Elliott "False Cathedrals". When I was getting grief for being emo, that was the stuff I was in love with! hope you like it ✌
Robert Smith of the Cure, Morrissey of the Smiths, Joy Division, leading into the emo bands of the 90s. Early emo roots, revival in 2000 to present.
one of my absolute favorite albums.
"the sight of your body made me feel uncomfortable..." I'm so sorry, sage v.v I hope you are resting well. I will love you forever.
I understand. I lost a close friend to suicide.
Daniel W. I'm deeply sorry for both your losses.

Soupy brought me here
Fireworks meets Saves the Day meets The Menzingers meets Turnover
with a hint of mountain goats
this album is one of the best i have heard in a long time and i do not even enjoy emo or at least what my perception of it has been for such a long time
There are so many amazing emo albums tbh
Cant wait to see them with title fight and la dispute in March...title fights been killing it with touring, Circa survive, Whirr and dead end path now la dispute. All within a year and a half.
2nd favorite song of 2014. Fight me irl
"You're Depressed"
arto26 mind=blown
Oh heck o:
Genius^2
makes sense now
First half of this record is great, but the latter half I can't get into as much.
Does anyone else listen to this 10 times a day?
Floydthefuckbag It's tuned a half step down. Tabs for the first two chords are X 4 2 4 0 0 and X 0 2 4 0 0. If you haven't figured it out yet, that should be a huge help.
Floydthefuckbag play it in standard and do the barre chords.
intro is Cm to Ab
I can't stop listening to it 😢
You gotta pump up those numbers, those are rookie numbers
I still do it on the daily
Sososo great.
so yeah....new favorite band.
This is amazing
This song is fantastic.
This would've been huge in 2004.
so true
@NED ANDREWS this was huge in 2014
close enough to 2004, just off by a decade
This would've been huge in 2003
vocals remind me of The Menzingers
This is some good shit
hell yeahzzz
Mediocre, another shitty whiny american vocalist.
somar29 you suck
@***** with no respect, luke, can you tell me the concept of good music?
Compared to the bullshit "metal" scene in Mass, this is pretty good! Very unique
"American" Sheesh, someone has a grudge.
You might be whiny too if you were singing a song about your friend's suicide and not being able to make it to their funeral because it was too depressing to process that way.
love it
Lyrics and wail like an open wound. Love the gushing guitars around 2:25 and the mood shifts.
let alone the album cover is insanely cool. reminds me of brand new's. and the song is really catchy, just my taste. calling in sick right about now
It reminds me of "House Arrest"
I thought about brand new as well!
Wow, this is awesome.
This is nice.
love these dudesssssssssssssssssss
fuuuuck so good
Call in sick from your funeral
