Hotelier, The - Dendron Lyrics

You cut your ties,
Felt better off.
Salutations to your son.
Awoke to find you heading out
With your white collar undone.
You placed a bar,
I played a game to see how low that I could go.
We develop mental pictures
And we're following our fathers down the drain.
Do you recall the imagery from when I drove you away?
Through others' rose prescription lens,
Man I'm sorry every day.
Because We intersect internally
And then we take what we have and we run.
And It all starts to unravel
Until we're less than we were carrying before.
I guess I expected more.
Wake me up.
Pictures of you smiling in times
When I just couldn't be around.
Hold me up.
Count my rings to see how many winters
I've been stuck here under ground.
Swore I'd not burn out.
Digging through the memories
That made you feel alive when you were young.
You were right to doubt.
Broken since foundations
In the structures you were building came undone.

Part of your charm was
The way you would push me from
All of the traps that I just couldn't see.
Figures the one that was there to
Have tripped you up
Would be the one
Was set there
By me.
Wish I was there to say goodbye when you went away.
Wish I was home but noplace was there.
I cut off my arm at the bone in solidarity.
Capital teaches that there's less when you share.
I felt the noose tighten up on your collar bone.
I felt the gun in the small of your back.
Engraved in the stone
By request and recurse of friends dead is
"Tell me again that it's all in my head."

  3. D.... S....

What a way to end an album. My goodness

  4. A.... a....

that end. makes me end everything that i have, all am i, all this fuckin shit

  5. J.... W....

Use headphones and take out the left one from 3:15- 3:50 its just the voice track its so cool

  6. L.... J....

Tell me again that it’s all in my head

  7. L.... J....

Fuck that line about the noose tighten up on your collarbone..and I felt the gun in the small of your back..gives me such goosebumps

  8. L.... J....

Most bands fall flat when it comes to smashing out Cadd9 and Sus2 chords, but the Hotelier does it very impactfully

    L.... J....

Its kinda cool, christian seems to really like those chords and bases a lot of their songs around them

  9. O.... ....

Diggin' through the memories that made you feel alive when you were young

  10. c.... ....

    1:40 - 2:10

  11. V.... H....

If anyone’s ever lost a friend then you’d know how this song affects that part of your heart, the one where you feel like you could’ve done something had things gone out differently.

  12. J.... W....

New fan.. these guys are great.

  13. t.... f....

seems like maybe one of his friends died from drug use that they may have done together. thats the vibe i get from this album. ive had a friend die and this song brings me right back to it. rip andrew 7/17/13

  14. S.... R....

"Man I'm sorry everyday", goosebumps everytime, so intense

  15. P.... ....

There's something more to this song, it helped me through hard times so I see it in the perspective of the loss of someone you love, mainly the central part: first, the angry part when you don't properly realize what's happening ("wake me up") and the voice turns whiny and girlish (you keep crying and complaining) mixed with a liberating scream. Then, you just let go and slow down with the guitar/drums solo, until you start having a grip on the situation and you get angry again, before realizing what you're going through and what it means to your life ("part of you charm..."). In the end, the guitar part recalls the one in the first track of the album, meaning this entire thought process will come back again. Maybe I'm just overthinking, but everytime I listen to this song it has this effect on me.

  16. M.... T....

this resonates so deeply within my heart

(((v. sorry for the spam but it’s pretty hard to promote on the internet without spending big $$$)))

  26. Q.... P....

Love this song! Gives me chills every time I listen to it💙 ❤️ and the vocals are just insane!

  27. E.... ....

These guys came to Orlando, Florida last night and seeing them was truly an experience. I deeply cherish the vibes and feelings that stir during the performance. Salute-

    E.... ....

Did they make a speech regarding the shootings that took place? I'd be very interested to hear what the band had to say, if you can remember anything.

    E.... ....

+Trash Boat they did, it was a somber mention with a focus on not having people of color seem seperated. He showed attention to those with color and the music genre that is majority white. It was all honest intention and being a person of color I respected the message the band brought forth.

just heard that lyric for the first time today after listening to the album for years and it's fucking brutal. perfect

  29. f.... c....

Hey, sorry for being the annoying guys who spam YouTube comments, but we’ve just released our first single “I’d Go Anywhere With You”, and wanna share it with everyone.

We’re Favourite Customer, an alt-rock trio from Scotland, and The Hotelier are our one of our favourite bands and biggest influences, so if you like them, there’s a chance you might like us too.

Head over to our channel if you’d like and tell us what you think!

  30. m.... ....

man it gives me fucking chills when the acoustic melody of "an introduction to the album" starts playing. especially if you listen through the whole album. not a perfect album but my god does it have some real beautiful moments that can bring you to tears.

Nah I'd say this one is pretty near perfect. Also Life in Drag is a super powerful song. Probably my favorite on the record.

    m.... ....

life in drag is so underrated

    m.... ....

I don't know what part isn't perfect. I wish their second album was as good tho.

    m.... ....

@Brad Jones I agree, Life in Drag is my favorite track after this one. Both are incredible.

  31. B.... R....

    This was brilliant live

  32. T.... ....

Love this song! Gives me chills every time I listen to it, and the vocals are just insane! Anyways, does anyone know what this song exactly is about? I can't seem to figure it out.

    T.... ....

TheCmaProductions1 it's about overcoming the suicide of a dear friend.

  33. C.... R....

"and it all starts to unravel" is spine tingling.

  34. N.... ....

I love how this is the last song on the album and it ends with the same guitar as 'An Introduction to the Album'. It's like it brings the whole thing full circle.

    N.... ....

+WeAreTheInsurgents fun fact, after learning how to play this entire album on guitar, it's just a reimagining of the opening. Same shapes of the chords but in a different key.

    N.... ....

@Sean Gonzalez That's what I said in my comment:')

    N.... ....

And then there's the sound of the door shutting... it's just so perfect

    N.... ....

Sean Gonzalez I mean, that's kinda something you can hear without knowing how to play guitar. But I get your point.

    N.... ....

I think it relates to the cycles alluded to in the album

  35. T.... A....

love when he says "Salutations to your son" what a voice even in it's simplicity
