They never "broke up", but they broke up. Because none of them are doing anything noteworthy except Darius. A lot of bands are like that. Lead singer becomes a star, then pursues a solo career and basically shrugs off everything he did prior. Countless bands have done that.

I absolutely love this song! I used to watch my VHS recording of this concert over and over on my tiny tv/vcr combo in my bedroom in high school. I was 16. Sigh.

One of my favorite Unplugged episodes. I watched my VHS copy so many times and this was a great stand out moment. I hate that this never had a proper release, as far as cd, tape or vhs.

Twenty years ago, I heard "Gravity of the Situation" on a poorly recorded bootleg cassette, from a Cowboy Junkies concert. I have been waiting 20 years for them to release a recording of it, cause this song really sticks in your mind. I keep checking back for it, first time I've heard the Hootie cover. Does anyone remember I think it was a tv special that was at a college and this song as well as others were played. I would love to find it if it's out there!

@leedscab123    Oh wow, I can't thank you enough!!! I forgot I even posted this. It was such a long shot but I couldn't get it out of my head. I am pretty sure I taped it but left my ex and I guess I didn't grab it.  Thank You!!!!

@Joanne Sokirka Have had a look at my VHS copy of the concert and the tape is Useless, so not going to be  able to upload, sorry. It pisses me off as I have been trying for ages as well.
 

I remember this like it was yesterday.
MTV did a kind of behind-the-scenes with Hootie and the Blowfish, rehashing their origins with interviews with the band, folks that knew em, bands that were on the scene with em at the time, like Jump Little Children (fantastic band!). It was a nice little addendum to Unplugged.

@leedscab123 Yes- they closed the quad on campus. It was large and intimate at the same time. Such an amazing show.
