Holy Holy - Love Will Tear Us Apart Lyrics

When routine bites hard and ambitions are low
And resentment rides high but emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways, taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

Why is the bedroom so cold? You've turned away on your side
Is my timing that flawed? Our respect runs so dry
Yet there's still this appeal that we've kept through our lives
But love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

You cry out in your sleep, all my failings exposed
And there's a taste in my mouth as desperation takes hold
Just that something so good just can't function no more
But love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

Holy Holy Love Will Tear Us Apart Comments

I don’t like it. It’s not sad enough. This song is about a relationship in turmoil. The guy sounds like he’s singing to a crowd of partying kids. That’s not the essence of the song. Sorry man, it’s a no from me. Maybe if he looked less happy singing it would be more appropriate. He just looks too happy. It’s an incredibly tragic and difficult song for anyone who’s truly been through what the song describes. Ian sang it sad, every time, because it’s a sad song, and it’s based on the difficult relationship he was in

Drummer is doing playback. He keep hiting the floor tom eights notes. There is only the bass drum sound no floor tom ... Other thing is the cymbal sound which he hasnt ... his closed hi-hat doesnt sound like a crash ... shame on you, dude!

This is the original song without the epilepsy.

  12. H.... H....

His voice sounds like that guy from James

  13. J.... S....

This is the only good cover version; they capture their own essence, and the song remains in the same mood.

  14. M.... C....

    That guy is awesomeeee👏👏

  18. E.... R....

Sounds A - Lot - like - James. Jame on youuu!!!

  19. M.... L....

I couldn't even tell you if they did this well or not. I can't tell. Jose Gonzales wrecked anyone else covering this song for me lol

  20. s.... ....

They did a pretty fine job with it, but it doesnt hold a candle to the old fall out boy cover

  21. S.... W....

Imo this version feels too Poppy and light hearted, Patrick Stumps Cover captured the pain and hurt that I felt was left out of this cover. Still a great performance though!

  22. J.... D....

Ok but they're like some of church band. Church bands who try to do rock music are shite 😂😂😂😂 but this ain't bad

  23. i.... v....

    Me encanta

  24. K.... C....

    Lovely, long live Joy Division!

  25. D.... J....

They truly gave it their own spin, and IT WORKS!! Love it!! Love Holy Holy so much!

  26. C.... C....

This is a good cover but I still think Ian Curtis' vocals on the original were better, they had more emotion but this is still really good

  27. K.... S....

Hard song to cover and for me, it started bad, but they got into it, feels like the song first started to take shape at 1.45 with the bass saving grace :/ But good try and great to hear covers of this classic :)

  28. a.... e....

    I like it👍

  29. M.... P....

  41. P.... O....

Just stick to your own tunes to perform your good enough to stand on your own musicianship guys :D
"True Lovers" < Holy Holy. Classics are hard to better no one can do them better than the original i maybe talking crap hehe!

  42. m.... 0....

Just don't try to cover songs like these man

  43. J.... F....

They made this sound like really generic indie rock.

  44. G.... L....

Fuck you JJJ for your Leftwing social justice warrior virtue signaling bullshit.

  45. D.... ....

The noise they made when they heard them say November Rain should have been the noise they made when they said Love Will Tear Us Apart.

  46. j.... r....

I absolutely do not like this cover! There is just something not right about it!

  47. s.... c....

the band loves the song...so i loved the cover....

  48. B.... ....

Good cover of a great song

  49. b.... q....

    They nailed it.

  50. M.... L....

Sacralige to a classic song nearly as bad as Paul Young version,
Ian curtis would be turning in his grave.

  51. G.... R....

    Cover start: 1:04

  52. H.... S....

Great job, it's a very difficult song to cover- I heard the original shortly after it's commercial release, and have heard many covers over the years, most of them crap For me, this is a haunting, deeply evocative song. Every time I hear it, it brings me back to that period in my life, and a lover who died Sadly, love did tear us apart..Thank you for a beautiful homage- to the this song, and the Joy Division.

  53. L.... M....

Such a good cover boys! Still loving it 4 years later!

  54. .... ....

Joy Division's song in major key. Sounds pretty cool! Why no one's ever done that before?

  55. W.... ....

I noticed many covers where they say
"why is THIS bedroom so cold"
yet in the original it goes "why is THE bedroom so cold"

Seems like a minor change, but whenever I hear "this", it sounds so accusatory, like he is asking her directly, as if it is her fault...
Whereas, in the original, the question sounds much more rhetorical and reflective.

    W.... ....

Walter5850 it really doesn’t matter. The song is somewhat accusatory in the first place, so I find the minor change to fit well.

    W.... ....

    I agree

    W.... ....

D L I guess Ian Curtis has chosen the words with caution, lyrics are poems somehow, changing a word makes a big difference.

Maybe I biased, cause I'm French, and here we are using so many different words to say the same things, but I really think words, even small ones, matters, and even more when it's Art.

After, it's only my point of view.

    W.... ....

Oh and Walter5850 : your profile pix and the small animal on it, are just adorable xD what kind of cuttie is "it"?

  56. B.... c....

If anyone is familiar with this band please let me know a good starting album or song.

  57. B.... c....

Ian would love this I think.

  58. J.... M....

    Very good!

  59. P.... O....

    Great version

  60. M.... S....

    Terrible. Just..... Terrible.....

  61. S.... ....

I've been a New Order/Joy Division fan since the 1980s and have seen many cover versions of Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Nothing will ever beat the original, but this is by far the best cover version I've seen/heard of a fantastic song.

  62. C.... S....

Ouch! What an awful rendition! A sacrilege has been committed! I need ear bleach!

    C.... S....

    Speak for yourself fatass

    C.... S....

Guillermo Sanchez Do a dirty sanchez to yourself.

  63. N.... M....

This is so good! One of the best covers we came across!

  64. T.... b....

this is the best like a version to date.

  65. C.... E....

Didn’t like the beginning at first but I’m glad I went through it, amazing cover!

  66. F.... V....

    sucks a waist of time

  67. D.... X....

U Mufucka's KILLED IT!!!! That FELT HELLA GOOD! !!! HOLY HOLY SHIT! Thank You!!! p.s I love what y'all do Triple J !

  68. /.... /....

    fuck this cover

  69. M.... ....

1 sec slower would be better, no hurry

  70. D.... B....

    nice one lads. rip Ian

  71. r.... ....

    cool...

  72. p.... ....

Are there songs that born for not covers like this

  73. L.... H....

Okay, I can't attack this too viciously, but the last thing this song needed was a faggy 2014 vocal.

  74. M.... ....

This is actually GOOD! I enjoyed listening to this!

  75. S.... ....

    wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwoooowwww

  76. A.... ....

Takes a brave, brave band to cover this track, but they pulled it off really well. Bravo Holy Holy.

  77. i.... ....

    Very nice.

  78. T.... T....

Not even close. Can't touch joy division

  79. D.... ....

This is a song that is impossible to cover and these guys did an admiral job, but I think the sound, vibe, and the sort of emotion in Curtis' voice in the original can't be replicated.

    D.... ....

The effects used on Curtis' vocals give this weird "disconnected but still involved" feel that completely connects with the lyrics. There's a crap-tonne of baggage that goes with the song.

  80. R.... L....

    i love it

  81. C.... Z....

    that's shit

  82. R.... E....

    When the routine bites hard
    And ambitions are low
    And the resentment rides high
    But emotions wont grow
    And were changing our ways,
    Taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again
Why is the bedroom so cold
    Turned away on your side?
    Is my timing that flawed,
    Our respect run so dry?
    Yet theres still this appeal
That weve kept through our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again

    Just cant function no more?
When love, love will tear us apart again

  83. G.... F....

Why ? You bunch of fkin clowns..songs should never be covered..why? Bcos we end up with shit like this

  84. c.... ....

That was great but now I want to hear U2 Covering this song.

  85. M.... V....

the boxer rebellion would do the same.

  86. A.... C....

THIS COVER COULD CURE IAN'S SEIZURES . Ugh....

  87. O.... A....

Its way way to upbeat and Poppy. nice try though.

  88. 1.... ....

The bass lines get me in the heart bone!!!!

  89. 8.... ....

Joy Division are one of my favourite bands, Holy Holy must be moonlighting as butchers. It lacks the Arp Omni II synth, it lacks Sumner's guitar choice. Basically they have taken all the despair out of the song. No thanks.

  90. l.... ....

Man! Whenever I hear love will tear us apart, it’s far between listenings. I forget what a powerful song it is in and kind of rendition.

  91. W.... B....

Alex Dyson is an ugly dude

  92. S.... G....
