Hollies, The - Yes I Will Lyrics

I'll be true to you yes I will
I'll be true to you yes I will
I won't look twice when the other girls go by
I'll be true to you yes I will

Somehow this time it's all so clear to me
The way to go is easy to see
My heart is sure you're the girl I've waited for
I'll be true to you yes I will

Yes I will
I used to be the kind
Who said that every girl's the same
And love was just a game for havin' fun
But when I looked at you
I knew that I was wrong
And that I really could belong to only one

I'll be true to you yes I will
Every dream that you have I'll fulfil
I never promised this to any girl before
But I'll be true to you yes I will

[Break]

I never promised this to any girl before
But I'll be true to you yes I will

Yes I will
Yes I will
Yes I will
Oh, yes I will

Brilliant music. Then, we had The Hollies. Now, we have Miley Cyrus, Nicky Minaj and the Jonas Brothers. Sigh...

  2. A.... W....

  10. L.... W....

I love The Hollies. Lots of great music . Just as good as The Beatles or The Stones

  11. S.... ....

The Davey Jones version is by far much better than this original version!!! Sorry, but there's just no real feeling in this version.

  12. A.... G....

I always think this is the song in which the Hollies sound most like the Beatles. Beautifully sung, great harmonies and compelling to listen to. They were very big then, but over the course of time the Hollies have faded in the collective memory unfairly. To me their name and music should be just as well known today as the Who and Pink Floyd, and considerably better known than Led Zepellin and shouters like Springsteen.

    B.... f....

Blues fan, more Beatles like than "If I Needed Someone '?

    B.... f....

Legendary music, they do sound like the Beatles in this great song, beautiful harmonies for sure

  19. S.... T....

Apparently John Lennon couldn't stand them but who cares. Tjis is a great version of Goffin & King's original

    S.... T....

    Goffin and Titelman

    S.... T....

Simon Taylor....Jealousy is a horrible thing! Far better than the Beatles ...in my opinion.

  20. K.... C....

One of my favourite Hollies songs. Alan Clarke on main lead vocals sounds fantastic on this track

    K.... C....

The Monkees covered this, entitled "I'll Be True To You".

    K.... C....

Keith Clapham Alan is one of the greatest singers of all time

  21. c.... ....

The greatest band ever after the Beatles.

    c.... ....

Great quality Hall of Fame Music

    c.... ....

Not quite. You forgot The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane and The Byrds.

    c.... ....

I believe they sang outstanding quality music, just as good as the big name groups, I have the highest respect for the Hollies who produced many memorable classic songs

  22. w.... ....

I'VE GOT MONO MANIA AS WE LISTEN TO THE GREAT MANCHESTER BAND, THE HOLLIES. AS MENTIONED BEFORE, THEY HAD 21 CONSECUTIVE TOP 20 HITS IN ENGLAND.
Yes I Will was released in January 1965 and made it to #9 on the UK Charts. Glorious singing here--should be in a textbook on how to sing harmony, IMO.

  23. b.... ....

The Hollies recorded two versions of this. Both were released but I think this is the 7" version.

    b.... ....

You might be confusing one version with the Monkees re-titled "I'll Be True To You" in 1966

    b.... ....

No. Whilst the Monkees sang this too there is indeed another version the Hollies made for thevUS market which had avdifferent intro. Btw the Monkees version was entitled I'll be true to you.

  24. k.... ....

    kaunista on

  25. K.... M....

    great song ..

  26. T.... Y....

Kyoko Murakami, I remind of you when I hear this song. I really loved you when we were young. You're really beautiful lady to me. I really still missyou.

  27. g.... ....

Man I thought this was a Queers song for ten years... haha.

  28. A.... E....

Wow! And to think that, until this morning, I had only known this as a Davey Jones-sung deep-cut on the Monkees' self-titled debut album. Quite obviously, this version blows the MONKEES' to the bottom of the sea (of course, as we know, The Hollies were a REAL band, unlike the created-for-TV-Monkees, good as their songs might've been). I'd listened to the Stereo mix of this elsewhere on YT, but YOUR post only confirms that this gem was MEANT to be heard in big, fat glorious MONO! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!

  29. J.... M....

    Great song, RIP Gerry Goffin

  30. a.... ,....

    Thank !

  31. o.... ....

They were excellent but of course they had graham Nash

    o.... ....

Yes, however Allan Clarke was the " voice" of the Hollies!

    o.... ....

+Barry Hughes Have to agree. Allan Clarke was such a brilliant lead singer and the voice I associate with the Hollies.

    o.... ....

ik kots op graham: he left England, his wife and children, and the Hollies....
and nu denkt ie dat hij de hollies was...nou, nee dus.
Allan is voor velen de Hollies zanger!!!!

  32. a.... ....

brill song from a very underated group.

  33. J.... S....

    Excellent.

  34. F.... T....

Both versions are great, but I like the harmony on the Hollies version.

  35. a.... p....

fab fab fab song. one of my favourite hollies songs.

  36. B.... V....

What i'd call a proper song.

  37. m.... ....
