Hollies, The - Signs That Will Never Change Lyrics

Leaves come falling on a winter's day.
Robins weep and watch them sail away.
Floating on the water is autumns last farewell.
These are signs that will never change,
Signs that will never change.

Rivers once were frozen now they're free
Showing winter's going rapidly.
Tadpoles turning into frogs in winter's last farewell.
These are signs that will never change,
Signs that will never change.

The changing faces of the seasons
Are those that cannot be compared
Except in love it sometimes happens
Love grows but all too soon it dies.

Tadpoles turning into frogs in winter's last farewell.
These are signs that will never change,
Signs that will never change.
Signs that will never change

I love this song- my favorite group

I love the Hollies, second only to the Beatles in my mind, tho I grew up too late to experience and buy their records, so had never heard this song before. It is very good. Not one of their bests, but they, like the Beatles, didn't put too much trash as fillers on their albums as many in the 60s did, so most of their songs were very good.

  3. R.... G....

First recorded by their heroes, The Everly Brothers.

  8. J.... G....

Great song for this time of the year - early March - I can hear the ice breaking...........

  9. j.... ....

Yes, they put out some great B sides, one of my favourites is "I've Got a Way of My Own" which I think is the reverse of "If I Needed Someone" written by Lennon & McCartney, of course

    j.... ....

Of course? Erm, wrong actually. George Harrison wrote it. You're doing a Sinatra here. He named Something as his favourite Lennon & McCartney song.

    j.... ....

Yeah, that is a nice song. Very much their early style.

  10. D.... ....

@Poopaloo55 Thanx. Alot of people still remember that. Especially my Mom. lol.

  11. P.... ....

    @DXPunx74 Hehe....nice little story that!

I think the Everly Brothers version was better on the Two Yanks in England LP. I remember first hearing it on the radio in Buffalo, New York. The DJ at WKBW radio said "Thats from a new album by the Everly Brothers. I think you'll like it." I love the album. Other exceptional songs on the LP were "The Collector" and "Hard, Hard Year." Along with some others the Hollies did a great job backing up the brothers on this LP.

  13. V.... H....

    I´d always prefered the B-side...

  14. G.... M....

Yeah, criminally overlooked -- amazing harmonies!

I sang this song in Kintergarden for the class in 1979. My Mom had this single. All the other kids were singin nursery rhymes, I was singin whatever was in my Moms records. I about freaked them out when I did eric burdons Sky Pilot, complete with sound effects and all. lol. It was quiet and I think I scared a few parents too.
