Hollies, The - Blowin' In The Wind Lyrics

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man
How many seas must the white dove sail
Before she can sleep in the sand

[Chorus:]
The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind
The answer is blowing in the wind

Yes, and how many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky
Yes, and how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry

[Chorus]

Well, how many years can a mountain exist
Before it is washed to the sea
And how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free

[Chorus]

Fucking horrid...Graham Nash was right..this sucks.

Good cover! To just think of the times, Graham Nash was the only Hollie to take the habit of smoking pot regularly while the other Hollie members stayed to drinking beer 🍺. Marrakesh Express was rejected by the Hollies for a album of Bob Dylan Covers and Graham didn’t like that because songs like “Blowin in the wind” had big Las Vegas band sounds. Also the fact that they didn’t record new Hollie material got to Nash as well. Also I heard Graham Nash didn’t like the new white touring suites because of the Las Vegas look of them. Also a side note that like The Beach Boys around this time 1968-1969 also changed their touring clothes to white Las Vegas Style performing clothes and I guess it was one thing to stay relevant was to update the performers clothing and the style wasn’t for Graham Nash

Don't listen to the negative comments under this thread, this version is great. Got me hooked the first time right after hearing that irresistible orchestration which everybody seems to not care for. Thank you Hollies for all of the wonderful memories and for your great contribution to music.

  8. P.... T....

It was this that Nash left The Hollies for CSN and he was absolutely right.

cricketbat09 I think you need to have a very high IQ in order to understand this version of Blowin' In The Wind, which I find great.

  16. o.... ....

    this is awful

    o.... ....

Mike: hey, I like the Hollies and love Graham Nash. I saw him in concert just a few months ago. And I like a lot of the covers I've heard of Dylan songs, especially Clapton's blues cover of "Don't Think Twice"..
    But this one? ouch!

  17. M.... U....

Graham was right. This sucked. Shame on the producer for thinking Dylan tunes could be done swing-style.

    M.... U....

I think this is much better, I don't feel that depressive as after Dylans version

  18. K.... ....

    awful. Sounds like karaoke.

  19. K.... G....

Young people of today dont know what real music is classic this

Peter Simson Partial to Peter Paul & Mary myself. Excellent harmonies and powerful delivery.

Allan Clarke's voice is particularly breathtaking on this song!

    H.... G....

+Holly Golightly It is fabulous...as always.  I don't mind saying though, that I could even watch this all day with the sound off...if you get my drift! ;)

    H.... G....

    +Poopaloo55 Ditto.

  28. S.... ....

the Bee Gees covered it better in 1963

  29. l.... ....

    The last video with Nash...

    l.... ....

+lyapis2008 He must have been distracted; he's supposed to be miming 'Ahhh' and he's miming the lyrics instead!

    l.... ....

    +lyapis2008 I
I'm surprised! The first recording was done by Graham Nash as lead singer, the second one by Allan Clarke after Nash's leaving of the Hollies on the album Hollies sing Dylan. "Blowin' in the wind" has been the b-side of the single "Listen to me". In this video Nash is singing the second voice.

    l.... ....
