Holiday, Billie - You've Changed Lyrics

I've an awfully feelling
That this thought that's been a stealin thru my brain
Is not to be ignored
But to really tell the truth
Though I'm not a well known sleuth
I honestly believe that you are bored
You've changed

That sparkle in your eyes is gone
Your smile is just a careless yawn
You're breaking my heart
You've changed

You've changed
Your kisses now are so blase
You're bored with me in every way
I can't understand
You've changed
You've forgotten the words, "I love you"
Each memory that we've shared
You ignore every star above you
I can't realize you've ever cared
You've changed

You're not the angel I once knew
No need to tell me what we're through
It's all over now
You've changed

I could shake the producer until his teeth rattle! Billie deserves better! The background muzak, (Jackie Gleason?) is horrendous.

  6. M.J. Leger

By now, her voice is very raspy, the drugs, alcohol and cigarettes ravished her throat, but you have to hand it to her for keeping on going, almost until her end. She had some great songs to work with in the 1930s and '40s, which helped to gain her an appreciative audience. She certainly influenced a lot of singers back in her early days.

Pure beautiful song for holidays especially as it's by Billie Holiday. Holidays are just as beautiful as this beautiful moving song of the 20th century.

  8. janet tillery

    One of my favorites!

Diana Ross did an excellent job of capturing the essence of Billie on her cover of this song

  12. Drew Hunkins

One of most tragic, beautiful and sad songs ever recorded. This recording will live forever.

  13. Bree Kearns

So sad this song and sung to perfection by Billie
It's all over now you've changed.
Billie suffered so very much in her life sadly at the hands of men.

    To my spirit of life:

    You've change
The childhood feeling in my heart is gone.
My sweet little voice is just a long forgotten memory.
    You are breaking my heart
My childhood is literally over 😢😢😢.

My sweet little hands have grown bigger.
The school days of fun are over.
    You've changed

The happiness of my toys is gone
My babyhood house is just an unknown persons house
I feel so low like everything's over.

    The childhood is over
    You've changed 😢😢.

God please help me overcome my childhood blues.

    I feel
emotional to this song because it reminds me of a Southern French holiday and screaming in sadness on the long journey home 😢💔 I was lucky my perants were sympathetic and didnt keep wooping me. Still cry over it and bit 😢💔

  27. Roy Willis

At this stage Billie's voice was well past its best ... BUT,,,, she still had so much beautiful emotion to vocalise ...and a song that will always bring a tear to my eye....... THEN I go back and listen to her 1935 version of "What a little moonlight will do" with Teddy Wilson and Benny Goodman and hear her at her AMAZING best !! and love her to pieces for it all.

  28. william L. Volz

My wonderful friend Bill Carey wrote this. We were friends in Laguna Beach for years. He wrote a song to his wife every day until she passed he also gave her a bouquet of flowers every day.
    RIP

    Heather Remlin

Hi there! Thanks so much for sharing that story. It brought tears to my eyes...so sweet :-)♡♡♡ native California girl Laguna beach for EVER!

    Julie Dennis

Hello William, I have sung this song for many years as it has always had a place in my repertoire and saw that the person who wrote the song ie Bill Carey was your friend. I was looking for the writer as I need to know for a possible radio show airing. As a songwriter myself, it can be so upsetting that people do not know that. you are the person who wrote the song that makes people sit up and listen to them. I also took some time to read his life story and was shocked to realise that I did not have the name of such a prolific songwriter and singer always on the tip of my tongue. So I would like to apologise for that and declare much respect to Bill Carey your friend who has given myself and so many more people, so much pleasure through the years with this song. From now on I shall always give his name a check before singing his song anywhere. I particularly loved the story of a song a day for his wife..Heartbreaking (as is the song). We must all remember to remember. Julie Dennis. UK

    M.J. Leger

@Julie Dennis Of all the remarkable artists who sang the songs of the great musical composers and lyricists of old, I have been privileged to hear a few in concert, but only one stands out who so often gave the name of those responsible for the song he sang and that was Frank Sinatra. He also, so often, mentioned the orchestra and thanked them at his performances. Few do that.
After all, without those who wrote and composed the songs, we wouldn't have those great songs that we perform, would we!

  29. NICOLA RIATO

    voce unica, indimenticabile......

  30. Penzi Erotica

I just realized this song is about a sociopath most likely. Sad...

  31. George Williams

What a honor to hear such a beautiful song by a beautiful lady.l thank God for ears to appreciate this wonderful song."Thank you Mama" for sharing your voice.

  32. Sylvester Stavenhagen

Billie Hollidays voice touches me in my heart, you can just hear and feel the many ordeals, the drama, tragedy and the tremendous suffering she has been through. Her later recordings just break my heart because somehow you know her end is coming near. What moves me the most is that she kept on fighting because she never lost hope to find love and happiness, but in vain, when she died in 1959 at the age of 44. 😔😢 I love you Billie, no one can ever replace you. Rest in peace. 💐

  33. Charlie Charlie

    beautiful. all feeling from Billie.

  34. Mel Rano

im so sad ...you ve changed

  35. shihlin1

Every time I play this song and dim the lights, it's like instant theater with all the elements of drama, pathos, tragedy added in. Nobody sings drama better than Billie. While I still prefer her early recordings from the 1930's, her 1958 classic "Lady In Satin" (which has this song) is a Must for any Billie fan.

    eric1939N

Is the best track in that album by far
