Holiday, Billie - Solitude Lyrics
In my solitude
You haunt me
With dreadful ease
Of days gone by
You taunt me
With memories
That never die
I sit in my chair
And filled with despair
There's no one could be so sad
With gloom everywhere
I sit and I stare
I know that I'll soon go mad
In my solitude
I'm afraid
Dear Lord above
Send back my love
I sit in my chair
And filled with despair
There's no one could be so sad
With gloom everywhere
I sit and I stare
I know that I'll soon go mad
In my solitude
I'm afraid
Dear Lord above
Send me back my love

Billie is a gift
sings notes that don't exist...
Como sentir-se mal, infeliz, ao ouvir essa voz.
3 am bowls alone with this flooding my heart hits so hard
😆👍✨‼️🎵
oooh this feeling
God I love this song so much
Lindíssima, embora a mais triste canção.

"By Myself" (Schwartz-Dietz, 1937) sung by Fred Astaire in "Bandwagon" is a beauty!

All I hear is Bellie Holiday
It's all that I play
It's all that I play
Hello,

Thanks.
i actually have the book of mister and lady day (aka billie holiday)
Oh man.. by the time she finished the second word, already in tears
Brings me back to time when I wasn't even born, I just imagine snowy new york boulevard with all the bright signs, yellow lights, men in coats and hats. Old, round cars..
A beautiful time, a more simple time
@TeaSis Not really. Racism was official policy in many states, there were lynchings, then there was a terrible war, mass genocide, the Great Depression. It's true that we are in a bad time now, but those weren't really simpler times: Only in the haze of nostalgia. But Billie's singing was one of the great things in those times. If not "simpler" times, I would say the music was better!
Papa whose that
That's the great Billie holiday
This type of music transcends time
Thank you Billie holiday.
Such a beautiful voice
anyone know where i can find the tab for the guitar little solo at the beginning?
Simply beautiful ❤️
Great Lady and it's to bad she had such a troubled life. She made a major contribution to the music world. RIP Billie. 9/11/2019.
She is so unique. She and Jimi. Two of a kind.
Billie's third and final studio recording of this song, from Los Angeles in April 1952, with Charlie Shavers (t), Flip
Phillips (ts), Oscar Peterson (p), Barney Kessel (el-g), Ray Brown (b), Alvin Stoller (d). Especially noteworthy for Billie's vocal, Shavers' unusually restrained trumpet and Kessel's soft midnight sounds on guitar. A pity Billie recorded surprisingly few of Duke Ellington's songs, and she and Ellington himself worked together only twice (in 1934 on "Saddest Tale" from the incredible short film "Symphony in Black," and in 1958 on the "Jazz at the Plaza, Volume II" LP that wasn't released until the 1970's).
I love when youtube recomends me these kind of songs
This cover made me think she white all this time until I looked her up LOL
Perfection in every sense of the word. I am haunted on a daily basis longing for those days long gone filled with gloom but I will never go mad because I'll always have those memories of love, passion, a wonderful life with the one I loved.
A simpler time....
Heaven showed me you Steven. Blood on your hands sir.
Fabulous Billie Holiday. I love her although she could be my granny
Helloooo Meeeee 😎😎😎😎 Old Ass Soulsss😍😍😍😎😍😎😍😍😍😍😍
i think i might never be okay with myself again
I don't know what's going on in your life, but I can assure you that it will pass. Stay strong random stranger <3
Hi, can I ask which recording is this and if you know who owns the publishing rights to it? I can only find a different version online but not this one? Your quick reply would be much appreciated
This is from one of Billie's first recording sessions for what would become the Verve label. The year is 1952. Duke Ellington, Eddie DeLange, and Irving Mills composed it in 1934. This was Billie's third and last studio recording of it. Her previous recordings date from 1941 and 1947.
@Daniel Appel thanks man, appreciate it
Everytime she sings I get sad that the song had to end.
De las mejores canciones que escuché en YouTube.
Gracias Billie Holiday.
This why the world is in a horrible state. Music like this no longer present. Everything is about being feelingless, unsadness, funning life away. But the opposite happens. This music was therapy. I’m just rambling tho
can someone make a cover of this i luv this song sm

Filled with despair
Nobody could be so sad
With gloom ev'rywhere

(In My) Solitude" is a 1934 jazz standard composed by Duke Ellington with lyrics by Eddie DeLange and Irving Mills.
I don't know what the big deal was about Billy Holiday. Just a performing drug addict. Loved Nina Simone. At least she was interesting. The song is one of the greatest. Duke Ellington....
Cara Billie, la tua voce...particolare....triste..come e stata la tua vita travagliata.🎤💋💝🐦
Sad lyrics but beautifully sung by Billie.
Is that Paula Patton in the thumbnail?
This is what I call velvet voice, technique and emotions on a song. People think that high notes Mariah style is the goal BUT no one like Billie. And effortless
It's Billie silly.
This song always reminds me of the time my brother and I danced to it at like 3am.
I relate to this song i'm very quiet and enjoy my own solitude
OMG this one is so close to perfection ...
Lady Day's finnest
I feel exactly like that...
I read that she was the inspiration for Bob Dylan's singing style. I can see it here a bit.
Gal Costa gravou esta música.
Si troublant et triste mais magnifique et magique 😘😘
Released in 1956 💜 Please give the release dates on your songs in the description :)
listening to this song and for some reason I find myself crying
I love her sugary voice...she was making a bundle at this point and always was broke.
Oh Billie. Our champion lady. ♥
Duke Eddie Irving
Take off your hat, go outside, smoke your cigarette, lean against the wall and listen to this.
Go take a break.
"I sit in my chair
Filled with despair
There's no one
Could be so sad
With gloom everywhere
I sit and I stare
I know that I'll soon go mad"
oh Billie, I wish I could have a drink with you..
რა ხარ, რომ ხარ!
That photo is of actress Paula Patton, not the great Billie Holiday.
why can't music be like this these days. this song is so lovely, as are all the rest of billie holidays songs, they are real and instruments, its her real singing voice, I love it so much.
This is pure art.
Every Billie Holiday song sends me to a whole different world. Her voice is magical.
Raquel Williams I mean, I rlly do love her voice, but I can’t choose between all of her songs to do a project on😕
+Jayda Idlett ikr hard decision. Hopefully you find out one soon.
Sophisticated Voice !
Um. Excuse you, but this thumbnail-photo is NOT Billie Holiday. However, I do appreciate your effort. Carry on jazz-lovers, as shall I.
hit that mother fucking like if this song turns you into a tearful emotional wreck
Qual a tradução dela em português?
Solitude💕
who is accompanying her on guitar?
Barney Kessel
Divine......
My mom played a record by Billie when I was little and I instantly thought "I remember this!" I learned all her lyrics fast, felt like I'd listened a million times before.
Underfoot
Ceux qui sont au fond du trou, comprendront . cette douleur exprimée dans cette chanson.🤔🤔🤔🤔😂😂😂😂🎶🎶🎶🎷🎷🎷👏👏👏😘
When I feel like shooting myself I always run and hide in this song
Wenn es dich gibt
