Hoku - In The First Place Lyrics

I don't know why
You came back in my life
Or why we said goodbye
In the first place
In your eyes
(In your eyes)
I see where we have been
(Where we've been)
And what could be again
If we can erase the lies
And the tears that we both cried
Make me feel alive again
Take me back where we began
In the first place
Maybe
Maybe it's all wrong
But you never should have gone
In the first place
Without you here
I always wanted more
Like what we had before
In the first place
And now we know
(Now we know)
It wasn't all a dream
(All a dream)
You're still a part of me
When hello became goodbye
To a love that never died
Make me feel alive again
Take me back where we began
In the first place
Maybe
(Maybe, maybe)
Maybe it's all wrong
But you never should have gone
In the first place
I don't know how we ever let it end
Or why you're here again
How did it feel being out on your own
(Out on your own)
No one to love you when nobody's home
(Nobody home)
You don't know what you've got till you watch it go
I don't know why
We ever said goodbye
In the first place
Make me feel alive again
(In the first place)
Take me back where we began
In the first place
Maybe
(Maybe)
Maybe it's all wrong
But you never should have gone
In the first place
Make me feel alive again
Take me back where we began
In the first place
Maybe
Maybe it's all wrong
But you never should have gone
In the first place

She could have knocked Britney down

  5. Taylor Downing

    She has a good voice

Great song from an under-rated talent. She should have had an amazing career, but got overlooked in a sea of young women with far less talent than her.

casio444 she was innoncent, i think that she had been cut down when she refused to sexualize her image.

I am happy to hear that Hoku is returning to her roots.  I have never been a huge fan of digializing voices, what made music so great in the 80's was simple lyrics, simple words with feeling and emotion, don't ever change Hoku,I have been writing poetry and songs for years I have never sold myself out just for money, what I do is simple and easy.

I love this song, though it could get you beat up at red lights. Hoku would be a superstar today if it wasn't for the business guys behind the scenes trying to "sex" her up and make her a sex symbol. I admire her for taking the high road and walking away from something that made her uncomfortable. Miss seeing her though.
