Highwaymen, The - True Love Travels A Gravel Road Lyrics
[Kris:]
How many girls
Choose cotton-dress worlds
When they could have satins and lace?
Stand by her man
And still keep a smile on her face?
[Willie:]
And how many hearts
Could face the winters we've known
And still not turn cold?
[All:]
True love travels on a gravel road
Love is a stranger and hearts are in danger
On smooth streets
Paved with gold
[All:]
True love travels on a gravel road
[Johnny:]
Down through the years
We've had hard times and tears
But it only makes our love grow
And we'll stay together
No matter how hard the wind blows
[Waylon:]
Not once have I seen your
Blue eyes fill with envy
Or stray from the warmth
That they hold
[All:]
True love travels on a gravel road
[Willie:]
Now love is a stranger and hearts are in danger
On smooth streets paved with gold
[All:]
True love travels on a gravel road
True love travels on a gravel road
True love travels on a gravel road
True love travels on a gravel road
True love travels on a gravel road
True love travels on a gravel road
True love travels on a gravel road
True love travels on a gravel road
True love travels on a gravel road

Highwaymen, The True Love Travels A Gravel Road Comments
I like Elvis and Waylon and Kris and Johnny and Willie -- it's all good
listen to gary Curtis singing this he is brillant
i finally understand the meaning of this song' every woman should listen to this but sadly the majority of women are impressed by money and fame.
You sir. are a wise man ;)
Hey thanks for uploading this. While I'm a huuge EP fan, I can equally appreciate the Highwaymen arrangement. It's every bit as good as.
I consider this to be the best version because its the one im used to.
I love the eclectic views of here of just how many versions (Elvis, Nick Lowe, Uncle Harold) are better.
ElCalavero cause this version is a joke lol
The Elvis version is better, but this is great!
This is a good version but I think Nick Lowes version is the best !
post his version, I'd gladly listen to it.
my uncle harold does this song better than any of these guys
Record him and upload
Amazing, these guys are true heroes! No denying that
I only found this song when I bought the album and now it's one of my all-time favorites, no matter who's singing it. It's beautiful and it hits me where I live.
1rajko: While it is true that this is a different version, it is excellent for those of us who are not Elvis fans and who love these guys instead - this version by now means is a joke.
The Elvis Version is King......this version is a joke
rajko Tolic you my good sir are a joke!
Exept that basically, Elvis version is Percy Sledge version
@MonsieurBellamy No, the Elvis version is not Percy's version because the Elvis version came out in June of 1969 while Percy's came out in late of 1969.
