Hendrix, Jimi - Third Stone From The Sun Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Oh strange beautiful grass of green
with your majestic silken scenes
Your mysterious mountains
I wish to see closer
[Verse 2]
Although your world wonders me
with your majestic superior cackling hen
Your people I do not understand
So to you I wish to put an end
And you'll never hear surf music again

Hendrix, Jimi Third Stone From The Sun Comments
Got this LP in '67 when I was eight. Mainly just listened to this and Pepper for months.
Genius stuff...
Here I land my kinky machine.....Still amazing and will stay forever!
I was one of the insatiables. The ones you'd always find sitting closest to the screen. Why do we sit so close? Maybe it was because we wanted to receive the images first. When they were still new, still fresh. Before they cleared the hurdles of the rows behind us. Before they'd been relayed back from row to row, spectator to spectator; until worn out, secondhand, the size of a postage stamp, it returned to the projectionist's cabin. Maybe, too, the screen was really a screen. It screened us... from the world.
I discovered this masterpiece in the movie, "The Dreamers"(2003)
Jimi Hendrix along with Ernie isley are two of my favorite guitarists, l wanted to be just like them both in guitar, l don't like the front cover of this though, l like women not men!
Brian Wilson not at akk
Circa 67 sitting in my friends room and his older brother hands me a scary pin joint I asked him what it was he called it Amazon Purple and then put this track on and walked out when 3 minutes later for one of the few times in my life i was delightfully frightened out of my flying mind.. i was supposed to have met Jimi through a friend of mine had he come back from England and if we in fact met we would have been able to uplift each other to heights i can't even imagine..... Yessireebobcattail
I saw Jimi 1969 at Cobo Hall in Detroit I was 13 years old. I saw some of my best concerts that year including Jimi of course :) Peace
Love this version. However, I like Gary Clark Jr’s cover of this song a lot more
Gary's is cool, but i prefer hendrix's vibes and grooves, also i dig his stylings more. I've seen gary live like 4 times though, i love him lol
Best guitar player Jimi Hendrix.1-6-2 🎆2🎆
✌️♥️
Jimi had a great drummer in Mitch Mitchell! Listen to him ride those cymbals in the intro with the touch of Jazz great Art Blakey then change to classic Rock with that great back beat and fantastic fills...without Mitch he wouldn't have been nearly the same, what great music!
Not sure why they are using this add for this movie, but whatever. I would much rather see some cool psychedelic visions.
Este cover es sorprendentemente parecido a la version original de JHE pero sigo preguntandome y nadie me responde ¿PORQUE ES IMPOSIBLE HALLAR LA VERSION DEL ALBUM ORIGINAL: "ARE YOU EXPERIENCE?" ? ¿ALGUIEN PUEDE RESPONDERME ESA PREGUNTA? SE LO AGRADECERE MUCHISIMO
1989 the only way I could come down from an acid trip. I was flying
jimi didnt die he got on the mothership and went home
I hate shit like this. Fake photos. Karma will find you. Because the song has nothing to do with the fakeness
Jimi will ALWAYS be my favorite ax killer !!!!! Fell in love with his playing at 14 years old and I'm in my fifties and still love to hear him !!!!
only the best Owsley for this one :)
None Better!!!
i didnt get to see Jimi but i saw his reincarnation Stevie Ray in 83 in a club in Houston..he did this song and it was astronomical
That's Beautiful. The music is beautiful, not the creatures. 😉🐰
At about 4:44, he starts bringing it in for a landing.......
I have had this piece of music in my head since 1974 and it won't go away . ~ hard life (MULDEW)

my mother, "is the record player broken?"
I love Jimi but I must say SRV is on another level far above Jimi or anyone else.
Nah, creativity of Hendix was in a different dimension. SRV just polished up a lot of Hendrixian sounds without the genius.
You'll never hear surf music again? What up with that shit Jimmy?
I don’t think anyone here understands how difficult it is to create a sound so mesmerizing. All I can say is that Jimi Hendrix is a GOD.
Experienced after this....strange beautiful...
Still the GOAT and 50 years later nobody on the whole block can get him..HENDRIX RIDES AGAIN..KOOKOOKACHOO
I'm smokity smoking
Sounds like a train pulling into a station at the end.
Haven't listened to this for some time. Man I love it!
The real deal
I took ACID on Friday night and just kept putting this song on repeat MANNNNNNN THIS SPNG TOOK MY AVID TRIP TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL
Bruto e poroso
Viva!!!
I never liked surf music anyway.
😮😲😮😱😲😱😲😱🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
What also made Hendrix so brilliant was how he caused the other 2 musicians to blend in with his special effects in this song.
Move over rover and let Jimi take over!
Muito bom, difícil ouvir esse som no YouTube! Very good!!!
easily one of my favorite songs by hendrix not just for noel redding's bass line and mitch mitchell's drumming but also the melodic elements in hendrix's guitar as he doesn't get enough credit for the simplicity in some of his playing where he can just be laid back and be melodic. i prefer hendrix in that context than the crazy solos he's known for though i still love those solos and no one can touch what he does though there's other guitars players i prefer such as kevin shields, robert smith, peter buck, and johnny marr because of their melodic touches.
Mine to
Hendrix the genius is alive in this song!
So much sound from three guys. Beautiful.
gotta feel sorry for the kids taday~
Who has this type of vision? Jimi Hendrix that's who, so ahead of time! Not just his or our time, when it comes to guitar and just creativity he was ahead of TIME!!!!
Abujambersen Appu
Shame about the album cover, but at this point it's just nice to have any high-quality Hendrix releases here.
2:31....The Excursion begins.......2:54.....Flying high on the wind.....
🌈Psychedelic Brilliance.🌈
Noel was just a basic bassist but he was perfect in the experience.
I believe that Noel was a very good bas player, since he learned to play bass, when he joined The Jimi Hendrix Experience,. Mitch was a jazz drummer. I believe this what made them great. Too really appreciate them, listen to Hey Joe at the Monterey Pop Festival, super tight, and on time, straight ahead Scotty,
Favorite hendrix song #1
Smoke some weed and listen to this and it will be the best high ever
Dylan Webster I can attest to this
I’m 21 and I fucking hate I never got to see him perform
Just too ahead of his time, for many to comprehend or understand.... You'll never hear surf music again !
Nice song, shame its only representation on this site is because it was used in an artsy European incest porno (not kidding look up the Dreamers)
It's the 12563th time I listen to this, and it feels fresh yet
The whole album is a puzzle. Now try and figure it out, Hendrix fans.
Is not fair to discover it in a book and tell everybody to guess just by listening

When I was 12 my best buddy lent me " are you experienced" . " Third stone from the sun " changed the way I perceived music!!! Nothing today can do that!!!!!
After 1983 he was living under the sea.
More vision and talent than anyone of this planet.
He was more than far ahead of his time. He was not of this world.
Jimi definitely came from somewhere else.
https://youtu.be/usykCMLMd6c
I truly believe that!
He had the dark forces in him
Noel fuckin redding❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️RIP. MItch Mitchell's performance in this track is superhuman!!!!!! RIP❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mitch fuckin Mitchell ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️rip
When I was 11 or 12 my best friend lent me a tape called " kiss the sky" late 80 ''s greatest hits release. This track changed the way I think about music❤️❤️❤️❤️beyond incredible !!!!!!
His tone on this track is magnificent from start to finish.
I wish I didn't know this, but at 0:42 is the sample they used in that "I'm Too Sexy" song...
The Jimi Hendrix Experience*
ARE YOU EXPERIENCED
THE PERFECT ROCK SONG INSTRUMENTAL .
You should listen to this at 0.75 speed woo.....
Oh my God it's like I did some kind of drug
YOU WILL NEVER HERE SURF MUSIC AGAIN DAM IT!!!!!!
https://youtu.be/usykCMLMd6c
What's with the album art? It's got nothing to do with Jimi.
The algorithm can't recognize the picture, dude. That's why the song is still there.
His guitar is a living creature.
This is easily his best song in terms of just pure immersion.
You mean widescreen.
sync to "George Méliès: To The Moon and Back" u c amelikan YO !
So aliens never visit Earth, you say?
SRSOS this is song is about them checking us out

Sound painting by James Marshall Hendrix
f. no. f. words. f. can. f. express. f. this. f. f. f.
I love the alternate take of this one with Jimi making the spaceship sounds, and doing the communication with ground control at the beginning, but it is just about impossible to find on YouTube
https://youtu.be/uLQVDeA_Onk
Experience Jimi Hendrix
Cuando comienza a tocar las octavas no puedo evitar sonreir... Aun despues de tantas veces que la he escuchado... Asi que Gracias JImi.
Masterpiece
I still think this one comes second to Dick Dale's
RIP Jimi, Noel & Mitch.
they are jamming right now and we have to wait ;-)
Está canción me hace volar. Yeah!!!!!!!
How... have I never heard this track before :0?
I'm an old drummer, but great guitar are my passion,I listen to music that have great guitarist, petrucci, Gary moore, vaughn, santana,McLaughlin, to name a few,but in my opinion nobody comes close to the creativity of hendrix,i will always be in awe of his creativity.there are faster more technical guitarist, but that don't matter to me.steve via is amazing, but he doesn't make music that I can get into, hendrix is the whole package, great songs, arrangements, and amazing player,to me nobody comes close, but that's just my opinion and don't expect everyone to agree
He felt it
LOL all that and no mention of SRV. Shame Shame
Yea. Jimi's ability to manifest the deepest realms of his amazing imagination through his instrument is unique - the "technique" is nothing but a tool for that, not an end in itself, mindless shredding is to miss all of that and to turn guitar playing into the musical equivalent of the touch typing Olympics . His pallet of tones and techniques was unbounded but only used in service to the music.
R.I.P. Dick Dale
6:20 industrial sounds at the end
"Your mysterious countenance I wish to see close
May I land my kinky machine?"
"....and you'll never hear....surf music.... again"
Only mermen will understand.
JIMI,THE BEST EVER.
You got that right, brother.
