People keep repeating how ripped off was the initial riff from “2 minutes to midnight “ [ Iron Maiden - “Powerslave” - 1984] , but also keep forgetting how much more ripped off was the said riff by Maiden from Accept’s song “Flash Rocking Man” [“Resless and Wild” - 1982]

I read about these guys when i was 15 yrs old. Anyway, never heard them. So this is my first time here : - / :)

Wow, if this is the standard that constitutes a "rip-off" of a riff, then pretty much every riff is a rip-off of hundreds of other riffs. Try to write a riff that doesn't share some similarity with something else, I dare you....

+JayTor2112 Yeah man, just because there is similarity doesn't mean it's a rip off. There's similar influences, styles, and overall just loving similar music. Also, while a riff here and there may be similar to another, you have to look at the whole song, the way the verse melody/chorus' go, per-chorus' and many other sections to the song/songs. The whole package makes songs with similar riffs different.

The Iron Maiden album was put out in '84. This was '85. So, it could be possible this came BEFORE it.

This is a super late reply but I feel it needs to be said: There is nothing wrong with Homage, it's not a rip-off unless it's a note for note copy without any sense of modifying with intent to improve and stylize. Without nods and improvements to what is already good, a genre doesn't advance. Same goes for films and tv. Without ET there wouldn't be Stranger Things. Worlds a better place with both in it. Awesome music is the same way! The Principle applies to just about anything in the world.

this song is such a Iron Maiden rip-off... unless this was on purpuse. There's the main riff from 2 Minutes to Midnight, the title from Phantom of the Opera, the rhythm from Phantom of the Opera, and a bit of Number of the Beast.

that's because this song is so generic, Helloween wasn't nothing at this time, the greatest artists that they become later in the 1988!!

To complete: Kai Hansen in Walls of Jericho used to sing in very high pitch

The guitar work here is awesome by Kai/Weikath, very techinical,makes the listening engaging. This is one of the best tracks of the debut full-length album by Helloween. The drum lines are original and indicate wide use of skill by Ingo,gives a progression feel the way it shifts. I´m a great fan of Kai Hansen,he´s a genius (this song was his idea). The vocals in this album were less trained,more aggresive in comparison to his Gamma Ray days, but still acceptable.
