Helen Reddy - Emotion Lyrics
Lonely women are the desperate kind
And I am hanging at the end of a line
Losing hope when the call doesn't come
It's a feeling I choose over feeling none
And I am tumblin' back where it begins
'Cause you can spread my wings
And send a thousand dreams
To flood a million streams with emotion
And you can fill my nights
Oh, and blow out all my lights
'Til I see nothing right by emotion
My emotion
I'm running out of ways of makin' you care
As hard as I try you know it just isn't fair
For all I give, I'm only getting old
When I think I'm finally back in control
Ah, then you stumble in
And I am tumblin' back where it begins
'Cause you can spread my wings
To flood a million streams with emotion
And you can fill my nights
Oh, and blow out all my lights
'Til I see nothing right by emotion
And you can spread my wings
And send a thousand dreams
And flood a million streams with emotion
And you can fill my nights
Oh, and blow out all my lights

Helen Reddy Emotion Comments
it's looks like time has been marching by, she's seventy four and I thought of her like she was twenty nine in that picture so pretty.
Powerful Helen Reddy!!...lots of wonderful memories...love her!!❤💜🧡💛💙💚🎤👬
Top voice. Listen to the commitment.
" EMOTION "
THE HEAVENLY BEE GEES WRITE THIS SONG...
AND THE IMPORTANT MISS HELEN REDDY SINGS FREELY TO THE WORLD...
MAGICAL MOMENTS TO REMEMBER 💖🌹
Actually, it was Texas singer/songwriter Patti Dahlstrom who put this English wording to the French song Amoureuse not the Bee Gee's.
@glebeboi THE CONCLUSION MY FRIEND IS: NO MATTER WHAT SINGER SINGS THIS SONG IN ANY LANGUAGE IN THE PAST OR THE FUTURE...
THAT ESSENTIAL SONG "AMOUREUSE" BELONGS TO THE LEGENDARY VÉRONIQUE SANSON !!!
MADAME VÉRONIQUE SANSON 💖🌹
EVERY TIME I HEAR HER LIVE IN THE OLYMPIA OR ZÉNITH THEATER IN PARIS IS EXTRAORDINARY UNIQUE!!!

This 4 minute version was very difficult if not impossible to come by for a long time. All that was available was the 3 minute mono version.

Helen sings 'Emotion' with such passionate perfection.
What I like best about her voice is that it excites all my males hormones as much as is possible LOL
Excellent Song ♥🎶🎼🎤🎻♥
I love this song. It has everything I am honored to have heard this song and i understand it
It moves your soul. Men have emotions also. Maybe we hide it better, but they are their. I have been lonely and lost before. Maybe that is why I like this song so much. It tells me of my inter self.
dave in Sierra vista AZ.
I have never heard this version. I LOVE IT!!! Finally see the side of her I always knew existed but stations and broadcast couldn't put it out there for whatever reasons. yeah whatever.
That reads a a negative subtle comment towards HER. Chuckles. Believe everything you hear eh>?
When i hear this song it always takes me back to Bavaria when my friend and I got stuck in the snow in a little sports car, I could hear it playing inside the car as i was helping push it out of the snow hahaha great memories!
kiki dee...amorouse...and this exactly same melody ..which came out first
Amoureuse was first- a French song- translated into English it became this song - Emotion...
Actually, Kiki Dee's and Olivia Newton-John's versions were literal translation of Veronique Sanson's French version from 1972. The translation was written by future Elton John collaborator Gary Osborne in 1973. Olivia's & Kiki's versions appeared virtually at the same time in early 1974.
The Helen Reddy version, with NEW lyrics by singer-songwriter Patti Dahlstrom, was released in 1975, a year later. Dahlstrom also recorded the song.
Great voice. She is in my top 10. She should make some appearance. I miss her.
Love Helen Reddy easily in the top 5 female vocalists whose music I listen to
Streisand
Reddy
Newton John
Agnetha from ABBA the blonde
Parton
I love it...nwlman. I could not agree more!
Also her name is Helen Reddy, not Ruddy. Please correct this. Thanks and have a good one.
Frozen seem to have the same beginning. I do like Helen Ready, she made the way for so many other female artist. I just remember her music when I was a kid.
The verse she sings which begins; "The room is filled with only emptiness" from which album does this come? Thanks so much for posting; I miss her performances, but have heard she may be back.
Excelent song...
My pleasure. Merci de télécharger cet enregistrement. J'aime la musique de Helen Reddy - elle était (et est) un grand talent :)
The corrected lyrics are as follows:
Lonely Women are the desperate kind ~ And I am hanging at the end of a line ~ Losing hope when the call doesn't come ~ It's a feeling I choose over feeling numb ~~ Oh, then you stumble in ~ And I am tumbling back where it begins ~ Cause you can spread my wings ~ And send a thousand dreams ~ To flood a million streams with emotion ~ And you can fill my nights ~ Oh, and blow out all my lights ~ Till I see nothing but my emotions ~ My emotions.
Correction. It's a feeling i choose over feeling none.:)
Helen acknowledged the history of the song in concert in 1975, mentioning that Kiki Dee recorded the first English version. Two of the best singers ever in my opinion.
@fairybits You are correct: It's "none," not "numb." Also, the lyrics to the rarely heard third verse are:
The room is filled with only emptiness
And I am sitting here with even less
Nothing doing when there's nothing to do
And when I've decided we're finally through ...
After about five separate attempts (each time using a different technique) I officially GIVE UP trying to get line-breaks to work as you'd expect them to when displaying text in these comment fields! Thanks a million 'YouTube' for making this an unnecessarily frustrating experience.
A beautiful track with a (as per usual) flawless delivery by Helen Reddy. Unfortunately, some of the lyrics you've provided are incorrect.
I've pasted some of the corrected lines in a comment below, - because I think the composer of these lyrics did such an awesome job :)
