Heart - Heartless Lyrics

The doctor said "Come back again next week, I think that you need me."
All she did was cry, she wanted to die. "Doctor when can you see me?
There's a guy out there, seems like he's everywhere
It just ain't fair!"

Heartless, heartless, never never out of control
Heartless, heartless, you keep on sinnin' in the name of rock 'n' roll
Heartless, heartless, you think it's gonna fill this empty soul
You never realized the way love dies when you crucify its soul

Late night, in the penthouse room, the fire's burning
The shadows are warm, she's laying in his arms, answers his yearning
Didn't she understand the lie of his plan?
Her eyes are filled with sand

Heartless, heartless, never never out of control
Heartless, heartless, you keep on sinnin' in the name of rock 'n' roll
Heartless, heartless, you think it's so cool to be cold
He never realized the way love dies when you crucify its soul

Heartless, heartless, never never out of control, no no
Heartless, heartless, sinnin' in the name of rock 'n' roll
Heartless, come on it's heartless, you think it's gonna fill your empty soul
You never realized the way love dies when you crucify its soul

Yeah, didn't you ever realize it?
Crucify me
Yeah

HEARTLESS is also BARRACUDA, which is also ACHIILLES LAST STAND, pretty magical! Most will say this is not true, but the Voodoo guys know how these things work when they are performing musical rituals via the moonlight, one musical chant turns into others. While they use this stuff in evil ways, they still due it by spontaneity. This is one of the main reasons the gods go to Morocco to work with tribal music, of course the tribes all end up being mother fuckers, but at least they are among the most spontaneous, in their musical creations, before they became processed. That, plus the gods had no choice, due to the name of that 'country'. The gods loathe all tribal music!

I don't know why I suddenly remembered this old one.

  4. M.... ....

Used to go see them in Portland, ME back in the early and mid 80's. All the boys at that time used to tell me when I got my tickets, get as close to front as possible because I wouldn't regret it. So as a 15 year old, I spent all my allowance money to get a 3rd row ticket and sure as shit, I didn't regret it. Neither Ann or Nancy were wearing panties. So, every time they came back, we spent the money for the view !

I could never understand why critics hated Magazine. I like it better than Little Queen.

  8. l.... r....

These two sisters were a couple babes , oh and could sing too !

  9. M.... T....

This band was/still is so underrated as true rockers, and this song was/is too oft forgotten as a rock classic!

My doctors freaked when they saw a destroyed Right Lung & NO HEART in My chest X-Rays. That was 2012-2014. This Summer of 2019 I was walking a Certain Creek and spied a Stone, I stooped Low & took it up in My hand, a Perfect Heart of Jasper Stone with no signs of Flint Knapping neither are there any signs of tooling on My Heart.

Anybody care to take a stab at the statistical odds of all this, especially after a death diagnosis from 5 doctors in 2012.

Heart. What is missing in today's studio wizardy of vocoders and autotuned singers. Machines do not have heart and never will. Let us return to the days when a good singer wasn't manufactured. In fact, let's start right now by listening to the above song one more time.....

  12. d.... p....

    great tune

  13. L.... R....

They just don't make music like this anymore. I was a very young kid when this hit the radio, and it still stands tall. Ann and Nancy and the boys did it right.

  14. b.... w....

saw them in denver, co. 1988 at an outdoor concert, had a good time!

    From WIKI
"Heartless" is a song written and recorded by the rock band Heart in 1976 for their album Magazine. Issues with the band's previous record label Mushroom caused a delay in the album's release and "Heartless" was released as a single two years later, after the re-issue of their first single "Crazy on You".[1]
Thanks for the upload. Rock on

  16. S.... V....

    Bad ass Chicka!!!

  17. J.... K....

It's still okay to be a woman in Los Angeles, especially if you can play like this.
Heart uses guys but we;re a dime a dozen. We do it sort of like this but considering
steely dan we're obsolete. Guys have no way to smuggle 50 pounds of coke through lax
and we wouldn't want to anyway. Consider that it's '77 and whatever. So damn heartless.
Crucify my soul. USC has been outed and they're damned straight to hell.
I never had anything to do with them so I'm clean about that.
Crucify my soul. Sure I'd do it for free.

  18. P.... C....

Excellent Heart tune. To be honest, though, I prefer the limited 1977 release version.

This album came out the same year or so as Little Queen. Some sort of contract dispute with a record company or something.

40 year's ago I seen Heart on OKC at the Myriad with Bob Welch. Heart did an Ass-kicking show! Along with 2 encore song's. A sweet concert! I was in love with Ann, and I still am!

I have this album on vinyl. Heart is a great band. I was 16 years old when my 21 yearold boyfriend surprised with 10th row main stage tickets at Rosemont Horizon Chicagofor the Passion Works Tour. That was a GREAT show. Ann has a beautiful voice.Nancy is a great guitarist. THAT"S why they are in the R&R hall of Fame.

  32. C.... A....

i was a young bass player in Detroit i all most burned my my mother house after hearing this song

  33. S.... S....

glorious harmonies in here. No auto-tune was used!!!

  34. L.... A....

Heart is still amazing after all these years.

  35. R.... K....

These guys rip off every song.. The beginning of crazy on you ripped off the beginning of bob dylans hurricane!! And this song rips the piss out of long cool women in a black dress! Listen to that beginning riff of those 2 songs and right away you will know exactly what I mean!! She can't top joplin or grace slick!!!

    R.... K....

SuperKevinheart You are right on that... And I do like this bands music definitly better then the crap on radio today for sure! But It just seems that their riffs sound as you stated very similar to the other artists I mentioned..

    R.... K....

Rockin' Kid It may be a pure coincidence. However, we can't prove that. Let's say they copied the exact lyrics and guitar riffs throughout the entire song then yes the repercussions of this would be severe.

    R.... K....

    SuperKevinheart true.

    R.... K....

@Rockin' Kid The main riff is similar to Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress but that's only because it's a really common blues/rock pattern.

    R.... K....

@Sir Cube Yet the Rolling stones can sue the verve.

  36. D.... B....

this song went to #24 on the pop charts in 1978!!!

  37. T.... G....

It just sounds so sexy, the whole thing, Ann’s voice, the guitar riff, the drum’s groove. Im a guy I just want to take my clothes off when I hear this.

  45. S.... t....

Keep hearing this on the radio at work and was trying to find the name of the band... you'd not believe how many people have written songs with this name. Well, you probably would actually.
I'd say this one's still the best of the bunch, and I'm barely half as old. :D

  63. F.... M....

I really like the whole "dreamboat Annie" and "little queen" albums but honestly, I'm not sure how to feel about Heart's 80's hits.

    F.... M....

Nor really my cup of tea but would beat the hell out of anything put out since 1999.

    F.... M....

The Heart of the 80s may not be as good as the 70s Heart, but bad Heart music is better than 99% of the music out today.

Us old rockers discovered this shit years ago Ya!

    r.... A....

in all fairness, younger rockers weren't even born yet when this album came out, so the mere fact that they discovered this AT ALL is a testament to that minority of millenials who take the time to find music outside their comfort zone.  Kudos!

    r.... A....

Mark Sproha Also really nails home the point that true talent is timeless.

    r.... A....

Yes we did and l still gotta have my daily dose!!!😎

  91. L.... M....

Sounds a little bit like Roundabout from YES and the cover reminds their Fragile album's cover too...still a great classic from Heart. Love 70's!!

    L.... M....

Luiz Maymoni I couldn't agree more. The second I heard this, Roundabout instantly came into my mind.

  92. E.... H....

    Awesome !!!!!!! Always..

  93. J.... P....

Heartless saved this otherwise bland record. Little Queen was really the best pure Heart record. Dreamboat Annie was in and out...you could sense the writing dilemma...one rocker and then a slow ballad, style emerging and finally came together with Little Queen. Sadly, the band was about to break up shortly after. 80's Heart is a different band entirely.

    J.... P....

Little Queen is a good album. I've always thought the fact that 70's Heart and 80's Heart being so different was one (of many things) that made Heart special. You can listen to Magic Man, Barracuda, and Dog and Butterfly; then to Alone, What About Love, and These Dreams, and it's two completely different worlds. There are many artist who change sounds, or who "make the transition" from one decade to another, but it usually ends up sounding like a soulless sell-out; I don't hear that with Heart.

    J.... P....

So much of that is the business of music.  The Heart LP nobody knows, Private Audition, was a bomb...they were lost so there needed to be a serious revamp, image, and sound.  They went commercial for hit singles...gotta do what ya gotta do to survive.  Desire Walks On is one of the best produced LP's anywhere.  Jupiters Darling went back to their roots when they said, F-IT...we're doing what we want.  Love this band.

    J.... P....

In the early years of MTV, music videos became a vehicle to revive veteran rockers like Heart. By the mid-'80s, MTV was the red-hot center of the music business. The videos sold records, and record companies began spending the money to make them slicker and more stylish. Michael Jackson's $1.5 million "Thriller" video helped make the album the best seller of all time!

    J.... P....

When I think of Heart the first song that comes to mind is Barracuda.

    J.... P....

I didn't really care for Dreamboat Annie. All of there other shit is awesome though.Even the power ballads from the 80s ,and beyond dude.

  94. S.... L....
