Heart - Dreamboat Annie (Reprise) Lyrics
Heading out this morning into the sun
Riding on the diamond waves, little darlin' one
Warm wind caress her
Her lover it seems
Dreamboat Annie my little ship of dreams
Going down the city sidewalk alone in the crowd
No one knows the lonely one whose head's in the clouds
Sad faces painted over with those magazine smiles
Heading out to somewhere won't be back for a while

Eugene Kovach Had The Album When I Was 15 Years Old
Best version of all
My first name is William but I am called by my second name Andrew, when my children were young I would play this song and sing "oh Andrew, dreamboat Andrew" they'd laugh and sing along
Oh annie, dreamboat annie, little ship of dreams ❤
Lush orchestration, Ann's rich voice. Lovely melody, evocative words. so beautiful
First time i heard this i teared up as it's so pretty and beautiful. Music was so much better then vs. the garbage today.
Ann sounds so much like Karen Carpenter here.
Great album. Miss my youth. Takes me back... Magic.
I am about to be 52 and first heard this at age 12. I knew then as now who some the best ladies in music are
music at its best
The voice of an Angel ❤
🍄God you just got to put the whole album on..pack a bong and feel this experience it!!🎵🎵🍄🍄
Won't be baaaack for a whiiiiile...
HEART - DREAMBOAT ANNIE – February 14 1976
https://00individual.wordpress.com/2017/02/11/1970%E2%80%B2s-historic-classic-rock-albums-heart-dreamboat-annie-february-14-1976/
My parents bought me the "Dreamboat Annie" CD in 2004 because I was taking guitar lessons at the time. I knew Heart songs before, but the ones they played on the radio over and over, but I had never heard "Dreamboat Annie" before my parents got me the CD. I have gone to see Heart play in concert a couple times and they have never played this song live. I'll keep going until they play it ! :)
I still have the CD and love it when I get to the end and hear this song. Ann and Nancy Wilson are in my opinion two of the best and greatest songwriters EVER.
It's just sweet....no more to be said
(Lyrics excerpt) - "Sad faces painted over with those magazine smiles..." - Well, darlings - This is one girl who just love-love-loves "Dreamboat Annie" to pieces. She really does.... "Oh, Annie. Dreamboat Annie. Little ship of dreams."
I was going on a long train ride with my Aunt when i was a kid and as we were packing this song came on the radio..funny how someone can remember something like that with great detail over 40 years later
Duuuuuuuuude!!!! My name is Trevor machado and your name is Trev mac! What a coincidence
Now I'm 53 and been listening to this since 18
Anant Pitukde I'm 54 and still listening since I was 18 too!
Right there with you, 54 on the 5th, and I have always LOVED these women!
70s heart is the best !! ❤❤❤
what a richly gorgeous voice Ann has(had?).
Oh trust me, Little Queen's still got it
Hell yea!
Who else came here from Transparent?
This was the last song on the original LP . I still have it
I can't tell you how many times I played this song on the LP. I was/am a singer back then. The music speaks to you. Awesome.
one dislike? looks like we gotta burn an anti feminist at the stake
Hello, darling - Why would you think that a "thumbs down" vote for this song would automatically come from an anti-feminist?
Bob G. from Gino's DMV- if you see this you know who you are. You turned me on to Heart in 1970. I was never poorer financially but had some fun times with Ginos staff. You were AKA S.Hound. Remember and smile!
Key word: Concept.
Never knew this was the reprise from the album. They would play this on WIP in Philly and just announce it as Dreamboat Annie. Those days AC stations would play album tracks often.

Poetic Lyrics By TLH Andress
As the little mice began...their midnight dance!
Hats...and coats...and tiny little...furry furs were...finally hung!
And...little tiny...colored lights...began...to blink!
And...Cin-der-ella...played with...her soft...blonde hair!
Crickets...jumped and hummed...her...soft sweet tune!
CHORUS:
On a faerie boat...little sails...little...tiny people!
Small waves sent crashing...against fielded greens...as those emerald...green eyes!
Strawberry dreams...and play castles of snowy...whipped cream!
Faerie Godmothers...and Godfathers...simply dream too!
So...dream young child...and...I will leave...I...will leave...I...will leave...you alone!
In the simple young mind...of a dreaming child...winds and sails...get tossed
and blown!
And traded winds...and swaying trees and waves...dance like fields of emerald
green fronds!
And Valhala...is sweet and special...like Cin-der-ella's...lovely smile!
So...dream on...and on...little tiny princess...and special prince!
And one day...one glorious and...wondrous...sweet Winter's...Winter-Won-der-land...
as the snowy-flakes...get tossed and blown...all around an inner court-way...
dear sweet Cin-der-ella's ringless...finger...gets...The Stone-of-All-Stones!
The Stone-of-All-Stones...The Stone-of-All-Stones...The Stone-of-All-Stones!
FINI [THE END]
I just love that song!
This my favorite version of this song. However, all of it is good
mixe tapes seemed to have this somewhere on it
Oh Man... If it needs to be explained.......
can anyone recommend any similar music to this from the same period? i like this
+Nihilanth1982 Heart has a dreamlike quality that reminds me of a good Steve Miller Band or Led Zeppelin ballad,or maybe the first 2 Queen albums.
Yes-Turn of the Century
fleetwood mac
gordon lightfoot
Heart reminded me much of early Moody Blues. Like the way Crazy on You has an energy much like that of The Story In Your Eyes from Every Good Boy Deserves Favour.
This song actually shows up three different times on this album, tying the whole album into one cohesive theme..beat woman vocalist...EVER....
Memories flooding in listening to this... by far their best album
That is so funny. I was just on another video (Crazy On You) and made the comment about Ann Wilson being like Karen Carpenter on adrenaline.
That is so Right!!
I SOOOO LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!
♥️♥️♥️♥️
This song kind of reminds me of the Carpenters...love it!
I name my cars. I had one that I named Dreamboat Annie. In my state there is only a license plate on the back. I had a thing made that went where a front license plate would go that had a red heart with Dreamboat Annie written inside of it.
One person is deaf, dumb and blind. Must be a lada gag me fan.
This is a wonderful finale for an LP that's all about love and the sea. Love can come and go like the tide and if you are like me, it has washed over you time and again...
Reminds me of the eagles.
At least this song does...
Beautiful.
I'm sitting here with goose pimples!! And memories of the 70's.....
Likewise.
Me three. I grew up in the GREATEST era of music, cars, clothes, malls, and good decent people. I don't know when, where, or how we lost our innocence and became so mean, jaded, and violent and vindictive. I long for the old days REALLY bad. At least we had it firsthand, and now we can live it through video and recorded music.
a kid, as in like a baby goat??
Heart's music is ageless !!
What do you mean?
@gypsyThree97 No, I meant I had a kid :)
@thepolacek LOL...I'm no kid I can guarantee that...Haha
@gypsyThree97
A kid... Now I'm old and boring :(
I love them both...
Just makes you melt into your chair......
@thepolacek Why did you stop?
"no one knows the lonely one"
I used to get stoned to this.
Me too.
beauty :)
seems that 1 person doesn't know music.....
better than Valium Barbara........
heart is as awesome now as they were then.......rock on ladies!!!
Back when musical groups really were made up of talented people.
Who else would have created such an unorthodox song, that highlighted Ann's vocals and that very unusual musical interlude?
Same goes for the banjo insertion in the shorter version.
Back when talented performers actually had the musical chops and just happened to look good versus the other way around nowadays. (Actually, it's hard to find a truly talented pop performer these days - more the exception than the rule.)
beautiful.......thanks 4 posting.
Ms Patty You hear this??? it s for you.

The acoustic part at 2:50 ties the themes together.
Sad faces painted over with those magazine smiles.
What a line.
