Head East - Never Been Any Reason Lyrics

Did you see any action, did you make any friends?
Would you like some affection before I leave again?
I been walkin' behind you since you been able to see
There's never been any reason for you to think about me

Did you have any bad dreams, did you break any glass?
Would you be my companion, is there even a chance?
You been talkin' in circles since I been able to cry
There's never been any reason
For never tellin' me why, yeah, he

Save my life, I'm goin' down for the last time
Woman with the sweet lovin' better than a white line
Save my life I'm goin' down for the last time

Have you ever been lonely, do you have any fun?
Do you ever think of me? I'm just another one, yeah
You never give me no answer, you never tell me the truth
There's never been any reason for me to think about you
There's never been any reason
There's never been any reason, yeah, he
There's never been any reason

Save my life, I'm goin' down for the last time
Woman with the sweet lovin' better than a white line, don't you know she could
Bring a good feelin' ain't had in such a long time
Save my life I'm goin' down for the last time, whoa!

Save my life, I'm goin' down for the last time
Save my life I'm goin' down for the last time
Save my life, I'm goin' down for the last time
Save my life, I'm goin' down for the last time
Save my life, I'm goin' down for the last time

Any KSHE-95 fans here? I grew up in St. Louis, and remember being blown away by the minimoogs and John Schlitt's voice when I first heard this song on KSHE. it was the buzz and sales generated by this song's airplay on KSHE that convinced A&M Records to sign Head East. So even though they're from Pekin, Illinois, near Peoria, lots of us in KSHE's listening area adopted Head East as a "St. Louis band."

This tune is solid. The tone of everything is so powerful. I especially love the bass tone he managed to get
back in the ol' 1970s. I boost that bass in my car.

1985. Mid July. Bar at NE14th and I-80 in Des Moines Iowa. Home for the weekend and looking for live music. They wanted a $5 cover. Who's the band? I asked. Head East they said. OMG a great evening!

  49. David L.

Head East played at Moondance Jam a few years ago in Walker MN. They did an unscheduled/unexpected meet and greet in the camping area. They just walked out into the camping area and started chatting with the fans. I got my photo taken with the guys in the band. I hope to see them again! They are a hidden jewel in the mid-west. Out here in the east (Ontario Canada) I hadn't heard of them, but I've become a fan.

In 2000 I talked to a guitar player who said his band played in a concert with Head East and he said very sarcastically when they got ready to perform the guitarist pulled out his pink guitar to go onstage and I said, well, their song is loved by millions and played on oldies stations all over the U.S. every single day and where did your band get to ? And he said nowhere. So I thought who the hell are you to criticize his pink guitar.

Fender and Gibson were to of the most popular guitars when I was born. But after I made the Stratocaster (better than Fender and Gibson combined) I was hired by every serious guitarist to be their guitar maker.
