Head And The Heart, The - False Alarm Lyrics
Visions of you dance through my head
Dark heroine of the books I have read
Pages torn out, I made up my own world
Deep in the dream, it's all built to last
Pop my balloon, I fell from a great high
And I'm tired of wasting life
Searching out going around
What became such a false alarm
'Cause I'm looking for the truth
Not some tired cheap cliché
False treasure in a shallow pond
Alright
Powder and spark drew me to bed
Drift with you there down a dark and frozen stream
I thought I'd found jewel of the Nile
You're just a shiny rock in my pile
So many stones, stuck in my shoes
And I know if there's enough
It could make up a road
That could lead me far from this town
'Cause I'm looking for the truth
Not some tired cheap cliché
False treasure in a shallow pond
And I'm tired of wasting life
Searching out going round
What became such a false alarm
Just a false alarm
Just a false alarm
Just a false alarm
A false alarm

Head And The Heart, The False Alarm Comments
Hey, this is by Matt Hopper. Why doesn't it say cover? What the heck?
Reminiscent of ELO. Very nice!
I wanted this group to be the background soundtrack of my life
Los amoo
@MattHopper
Sublime song, I love it. What are the lyrics near the end that sound like they are coming from a distant PA system? Sounds like ‘I turned out the lights now, it’s all dimly lit’
I had this album on loop in my old car's CD player for at least a month 😄. This is the track that comes back to me the most...
Perhaps because most things in our modern society feel like a false alarm...
This song makes me think of how much we can just create things in our heads that never existed to begin with. Those thoughts make us feel good, we like them, so we keep creating these things in our minds for days, weeks, months, even years... until one day it hits us. We realize we've been lying to ourselves, big time, and created something in our heads that never existed in real life just because the thought of it all was really comforting. And it's such a relief when you realize that and you decide that it's over, and that you don't want to be stuck in an imaginary world anymore.
I made up my own world
♥ ♥
One of the best song in my life. The lyrics and the music, the way they go give me a mesmerising feeling.
He makes me im in the memory
The verse sounds extremely similar to David Byrne - Like Humans Do
Along with so many of their other songs, this tune is simply fantastic! I love this group. 👌
sabia que en algún lado la había escuchado jaja
Even more than that, the even-earlier Swingin' Party by The Replacements. At least it departs from both songs in the pre-chorus and chorus.
favorite song from this album
Lyrics
Visions of you dance through my head
Dark heroine of the books I have read
Pages torn out, I made up my own world
Deep in the dream, it's all built to last
You pull the plug, drain me down fast
Pop my balloon, I fell from a great high
And I'm tired of wasting life
Searching out going around
What became such a false alarm
'Cause I'm looking for the truth
Not some tired cheap cliché
False treasure in a shallow pond
Alright
Fireworks blew out the top of your head
Powder and spark drew me to bed
Drift with you there down a dark and frozen stream
I thought I'd found jewel of the Nile
You're just a shiny rock in my pile
So many stones, stuck in my shoes
And I know if there's enough

@Jar Jar Binks Thank you so much!
any idea what Charity's lyrics are during the chorus are?
I'll answer my own question here as I have finally found out... "what became"
i love head and the heart
omg i love this
The last time I heard a song with timeless beauty was by an artist named Jeff Lynn but this song has overtones of Fleetwood Mac. This band has the stepped into the next level. Congratulations!!!
😍😍😍😍😍 maravilhosos!
Love your songs 💙
Great cover, does it justice :)
Matt's original is also super-excellent.
Just heard this song performed live at Red Rocks Amphitheater and instantly fell in love with it.
This is my favorite song on the album, #1, but I love all of them.
road songs
someone get me some toast, cause my man's voice is like butter!
enak bener di dengar nya. mirip2 the beatles
This song is so reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac. Sooo nice to listen. 😌
My favourite song, so beautiful
Shout out to 90.9 KRCL for introducing great music like this to many Utahns.
This is good music :)
shared this on the Facebook page of 10:11 PM - The power of music!
Roy Orbison....without the falsetto....
I love this song. I first heard it on 89.3 The Current. It's a Minnesota Public Radio station out of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Great station(lots of Prince) and no commercials.
ripoff replacements tune
Sounds more like George Harrison to me. Great song nonetheless.
@Boot Which song? The verse sounds spot-on like Swingin' Party by the Replacements. I can hear the Harrison in the vocal style for sure, but the melody and progression and cadence of the vocals in the verse are a total copy of Swingin' Party.
@bvaljalo No particular George Harrison, more he style and pacing. In the end musicians are always influenced by others, some flat out cover others songs, some borrow elements, some copy style, some flat out rip off others. It's really open for interpretation. Just like with painting, there are only so many colors an artist can work with.
This IS "Swinging Party" by the Replacements you assholes.
Danny Contreras they sound different 👀
they definitely deserve more fans
This is a great song but for a while there I thought I was listening to The Replacement's Swingin' Party........
Ha ha. I can hear the similarities in this one as well. Big Paul Westerberg fan...love his solo stuff more than Replacements, but "Swingin' Party" is a swingin' jam.
This reminds me of rocking this tune at blues central in anchorage years ago. Good memories, great version hopp. I'm glad they stuck to your basic production, no need to change a wonderful song much.
That's exactly what I heard.
I friggin' instantly recognized Swingin Party ... the melody and cadence in the verses are IDENTICAL, just played slightly faster. Still a good song, but Paul should be getting paid for this one. That is, unless he ripped it off someone else before him, which is possible.
My best knew band. Such silky tunes
Next single for sure. Love at first listen, just like All We Ever Knew.
At times like The Beatles resurrected ... magnificient :-)
didoma73 Me too, at the beginning of the song I was like " fuck, I'm gonna love this song".
Your rendition is beautiful. This is one of my favs from Hopper♡
Wow! thank you Matt. I'm addicted to this song (and now your original)
Matt Hopper I LOVE the original. The rendition is amazing too especially with Johnathon's vocals but your guitar riffs and slower beat are very soothing. it sounds like a classic hit!
wow!!!! I had no idea of this. Great song. Congratulations!!!!
Matt Hopper This song is actually my favorite on the album!! So glad I found this comment so I know who wrote it, thank you Matt!
Matt Hopper that’s an awesome story!
Wow the intro sounds like the song "Like Humans Do".
Awesome album overall.
Hi, I'm the guy who wrote "False Alarm". I went and checked out "Like Humans Do" again and I can definitely hear what you are saying about the similarities in the vocal melody at the beginning. Good ear. I hope it isn't considered a rip-off of his melody because I sure didn't intend it that way. I am a fan of Talking Heads / David Byrne's songwriting, music, vocals, and lyrics and hope he wouldn't find this offensive or similar enough to file a lawsuit...but it is quite possible that his song burrowed deep into my subconscious at some point and came back around.
Speaking of lyrics, Matt, do you mind posting the lyrics to your song here? It's no where on the Internet, and it's only right that you're the one who should post it. As with the sentiment on here, I think this song will become an instant favorite very soon.
There's a few slight lyrical changes that Jon made while singing it, which I signed off on as "ok with me". My original lyrics are in (parentheses)
"False Alarm"
Visions of you dance through (in) my head

Thank you Afraa, I'm so glad you like it that much!
I stumbled to this on Itunes and I'm so happy I found it, I'm glad real music is still with us <3
Aren't they amazing.... I needed a new band after Paramore "broke up" and became whatever they are now...
Melody is so sweet.
