Hay, Colin - Hold Me Lyrics

NGIBAMBELE DUZE KUMAKAZA
NGIBAMBELE DUZE BUYA BANDA

NGIBAMBELE DUZE KUMAKAZA
NGIBAMBELE DUZE DUYA BANDA

Oh you’re born alone and die the same
In between can take a while
Only one drop in the sea of time
Sometimes makes it hard to smile

If you find someone to share your life
Things are never quite the same
Years we have travelled seem like days gone past
And we’ve known so little pain

DADA

At this point in time I stand alone
To the phone I’m holding on
DADAZELA MAMA
DADA

Outside people stare as if to say
We know there’s nobody home

Hold me when you’re lonely
Hold me when you’re lonely

When the papers read that all is lost
Only darkness lies ahead
I’ll speak softly and soothe and chase the fear
And on me you rest your head

DADA

When the nights are hot with heavy air
Or it’s freezing to the bone
DADAZELA MAMA
DADA

You may lie drunk in the city square
You may feel lost and forlorn

Hold me when you’re lonely
Hold me when you’re lonely

Hay, Colin Hold Me Comments
  1. p.... 7....

Peter Gabriel would have to upset not to have written this...

  2. p.... 7....

Yes it's a bit like Peter Gabriel. But when I was 13 it was better than the shit on the radio.

  3. F.... C....

Great song nice lyrics not so great video

  4. J.... G....

Remaster and re-release this cd please!

  5. z.... ....

Love this song, video is great too.

  6. C.... B....

Amazing song that didn't do well on the charts. It was radio-friendly and it got plenty of air-play. Unfortunately few people bought the single.

  7. J.... B....

I love this album, but the songs on it would have been so much better had Men At Work done them. Much better songs than on the Two Hearts album

  8. M.... C....

What kind of crack was he smoking when this video was made?

  9. C.... V....

    Always a great lyricist.

  10. M.... H....

    One of his absolute best!!!

  11. R.... ....

What are you people talking about? The song is almost as bad as the video. The 'hook' sounds like it was broken by a big stinky fish.

    R.... ....

In the words of the Dude: "Yeah well, that's, like, your opinion, man"

    R.... ....

    Couldn't disagree more. Great song.

  12. S.... B....

Wow--how did I miss this one back in the day?! Great song!

  13. M.... M....

If there was awards for the worst music videos this video would win it

  14. m.... i....

Song: amazing. Vid: the mind child of some idiot label psycho.

  15. J.... P....

Peaked at #99 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1987

  16. M.... D....

    Incredible song. Awful video.

    M.... D....

It was the 80's. People were trying all kinds of stuff with the new technologies of the time. The end results were sometimes odd like this video, and of course look very dated nowadays, but at the time this stuff was pretty cool.

    M.... D....

    DISAGREE BOYO.

    M.... D....

I'm guessing you were not a child of the 80's then '? lol

  17. o.... ....

I have always been a fan of Colin James Hay. Watching this video, circa 1987; I wonder if he dabbed into the martial arts? His multiple Horse Stances, Fists on his waist and his Punches in front of his Solar Plex are very precise. HHMM, food for thought, Thank you Colin for this excellent song!

    o.... ....

I was thinking the same thing. I'd say he definitely studied karate at some point.

  18. B.... Z....

    My youth...

  19. l.... l....

you are a big in my life thank you for ever

  20. M.... C....

    i thought this was sting

    M.... C....

    Consider yourself Stung. :)

  21. C.... ....

    Great track, then and now.

  22. g.... ....

odd eyed boy :-)) love him! I wonder what he might look like in kilt :-D

  23. a.... ....

i have the US 12'' with extended version... :)

  24. S.... ....

This is a pretty good song and it fits in with the time. But the video actually makes me mad. It makes no sense and the CGI thing is just a little too crude. It doesn't at all suit the warmth and richness of the song. This was Colin's first effort as a solo artist and I don't think it served him well. He needed something bigger and better than this ill conceived video.

  25. A.... T....

    brilliant song, shithouse video.

    A.... T....

I always did like the chairs.

  26. O.... D....

Hah! My dummy only broke chairs & things until I made him get gone! Why couldn't my dummy have liked music, been kind like yours, & not have eaten so much?!

  27. O.... D....

Here's another hug! I did a practice dance to this song today. It put me together after a traumatic emergency I handled with no one around. Even the Great Am. Bull. Dog likes your song! It didn't lose an eye & I Hold Me made me stop crying!!!

  28. c.... ....

Wish I had paid attention to it when it was new in 86. Good song. Not available on itunes though

  29. B.... ....

    i knew i didn't dream this! :)

    B.... ....

That is so funny!! I thought this song was a dream too! I saw the video on MTV when I was a kid and I thought forever that it was either Sting or Peter Gabriel when trying to remember. So glad I found it again.

    B.... ....

I actually have this on a vinyl 45. Awesome tune.

  30. S.... B....

    Nice! Lyrics are great.

  31. K.... e....

    @rdcranium agree 1000 percent!!

  32. K.... e....

bought this 45 as soon as it was released, wow i'm old but don't feel that way!! go music!!!!

  33. C.... ....

@jimbailey69 the best fish slip through the net ;)

  34. w.... c....

Always loved this song, and for some reason today it sounds slightly Peter Gabriel(ish) ?

  35. d.... ....

See him live... Did last night... He is hilarious... Great storyteller!

  36. K.... M....

Thank you so much for posting this!! This was one of my favorite post-Men songs, and the only version that was on here had poor video and audio. Awesome!

  37. o.... ....

Excellent Song And Video From Circa 1987. Colin Hays First Solo Album After MAW disbanded. After Seeing This Video, I Wonder If Colin Had Practiced The Martial Arts?

  38. b.... ....

    i love this video...great job

  39. C.... ....

    @walker44444

take the song for what it is and leave...

its an 80's classic with a great start - upto 1 min in its great then goes all generic...

not colins best by any means... but still better then most

  40. R.... S....

@walker44444 you couldn't come anywhere close...even if your life depended on it. Keep your ignorant comments to yourself

  41. R.... S....

Yeah, I was looking for Men at Work & have since only recently discovered Colin Hay who overwhelms me with all these fabulous songs. The chorus is very catchy to this song. As for the video, I like it. He's just having a bit of frivolous fun. The words aren't deep & meaningful to this one so he can let loose & have some fun. Why not? Musicians & artists can do things we plebs can't do lol.

  42. w.... ....

I never heard this song before, must a been like 300 on the billboard charts back then.

  43. G.... ....

    @wzx33
isn't this is the kind of video that someone does when they have lost a bet?

  44. G.... ....

decent song but wow this video can come across as creepy and/or just odd.

  45. s.... ....

been looking for this for ages . brilliant.fijian harmony makes it

  46. D.... C....

Well, yes. Moved to Austrailia at 14. My apologies for pushing Men At Work's Austrailian label on him. SInce he is now solo, I should consider him a Scottish artist. Or at the very least a Scottish-Autrailian artist living in California....

  47. M.... W....

    BRILLIANT!!! Good taste!

  48. n.... ....

wack in a good way -.-

  49. B.... S....

I beg to differ...i think the video and song are both awesome...

  50. n.... ....

    chorographie is wack

  51. D.... C....

Oh, please. Bubble gum garbage. Midnight Oil, Icehouse, Mental as Anything, Real Life, AC/DC, and even The Wiggles and INXS are far better Aussie representatives...

  52. h.... ....

1987, came off his solo album "Looking for Jack"

  53. N.... ....

    how old is this?

  54. l.... ....

I love this song but honestly the vid scares me. lol drill team??

  55. m.... ....

Someone on E Bay probably has this one. I think thats how I got the CD

  56. m.... ....

Transcendental Highway is a great one..

  57. R.... P....

    indeed it is.
I think 1994's "Topanga" and his latest "Are You Lookin' At Me?" are also very good choice to start knowing his solo work.

  58. D.... C....

I loved Men At Work, and as soon as this came out, I went out and bought the cassette. Yes, cassette. I could only hope to find this on CD now... What a great album it was! Not a bad track.. Thanks for posting!!!

  59. u.... ....

I saw him in Concert a couple of years ago and he is so funny!
    A great show

  60. m.... ....

such a great song, always loved this one, his voice goes off in this wild song !!!!

  61. v.... ....

Don't think I'd ever seen this one; was this his first solo video. It is definitely interesting!
