Hawkwind - Welcome To The Future Lyrics
Welcome to the oceans in a labelled can
Welcome to the dehydrated lands
Welcome to the self-police parade
Welcome to the neo-golden age
Welcome to the days you've made
You are welcome
Welcome welcome
You are welcome
You are welcome

Hawkwind Welcome To The Future Comments
Jarre copies this ending
Greatest album of all time, bar none. I still think that Warrior On The Edge Of Time was Hawkwind's best album, but paradoxically (pun intended) I think this is their GREATEST album.
Pressured to record a hit single by a record label that had realized it was duped into a five album contract, Hawkwind took a nasty version of Silver Machine (recorded at the Greasy Trucker's Party at the Roundhouse) back into the studio, cleaned up the track, dubbed Lemmy's vocals over Calvert's, and voila... their biggest hit. They took the cash and instead of partying it up, they put on the most ridiculous extravaganza in the history of rock, The Space Ritual tour, culminating in the two shows that produced this masterpiece.
If I had a chance to jump into a time machine and go back to see anything, I wouldn't even hesitate... I'd want to see the 12/31/1972 show in London, and if I could only listen to one album for the rest of my life, this would be it. I still get chills when I hear "This is Earth calling...." as the opening riffs and noises tease me with the promise of another trip around the moon.
I agree, the end always seems too soon, and thanks... the visuals are outstanding! I feel welcome ;-)
