Harrison, George - Sue Me, Sue You Blues Lyrics

You serve me
And I'll serve you
Swing your partners, all get screwed
Bring your lawyer
And I'll bring mine
Get together, and we could have
a bad time

It's affidavit swearing time
Sign it on the dotted line
Hold your Bible in your hand
Now all that's left is to
Find yourself a new band . . .

We're gonna play the sue me, sue
you blues
We're gonna play the sue me, sue
you blues

Hold the block on money flow
Move it into joint escrow
Court receiver, laughs, and thrills
But in the end we just pay those
lawyers theit bills

When you serve me
And I serve you
Swing your partners, all get screwed
Bring your lawyer
And I'll bring mine
Get together, and we could have
a bad time

We're gonna play the sue me, sue
you blues

I'm tired of playing the
Sue Me, Sue You Blues

Harrison, George Sue Me, Sue You Blues Comments
  1. T.... ....

George had a great sense of humor. And he could write about love and spirituality like no one else!

    Hare Krishna George !

    L.... K....

    Krishna krishna

  4. D.... F....

Loose, the inspiration, irony and vitriol flowing freely in equal measures...

  5. B.... C....

I always like this song. Today I heard a 1937 version of Organ Grinder's Swing. Had George also heard it?
Compare it to the music of this from about 0:19 to 0:29:

  6. T.... C....

Man, Ringo's drumming is absolutely incredible. Really shows how under implemented George and Ringo were handled in the beatles.

    T.... C....

    It's Jim Keltner on drums.

  7. M.... B....

    An "Up Yours!" in song!

  8. M.... B....

Over the "My Sweet Lord" BS George was being sued over!

    M.... B....

It was how Paul got rid of Klien.

    M.... B....

It was about suing Allen Klien.

    M.... B....

Everyone was suing everyone else by this time. Beatles suing each other, the works

  9. C.... ....

Whenever I hear George's slide guitar or hear his voice, I always smile.

  10. C.... G....

Ha Ha 'pay those lawyers their bills' XD classic George

  11. A.... L....

Ringo has some seriously tight fills on this song

    A.... L....

    Wasn’t ringo

  13. G.... R....

    Fantastic lyrics. Wonderful song

  14. F.... M....

George was amazing. This song is great!
Besides being a great human being, George was amazing, one of the best songwriters, guitarists and singers of all time, no doubt about that!!!

    F.... M....

FERNANDO MARINELLI I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU FERNANDO!

    F.... M....

Totally agree. Such an underrated guitar player. George had a very unique and economical way of playing guitar. His slide playing is just genius.

  15. j.... n....

makes me remember the court- laws I had with me ex about our kids and usually thinking "Smile U & I'll smile U" I won in the end so thanx George 'screw the layers just pay their bills" LOL...

  16. p.... c....

Great song but McCartney had no choice and even he him self said it was the hardest decision he ever made.

    p.... c....

I don't think it was directed at Paul as much as it was Allen Klien

    p.... c....

Yeah, it was more directed at Klein than anyone else. Thing is with the US propensity for lawsuits at the drop of a hat, this could be about the whole US.

  17. H.... S....

so who is the one idiot who disliked this lmao
    smh

  18. a.... c....

"Sue Me, Sue You Blues" from George Harrison's album, Living in This Material World, released on this day, May 30, 1973. " In the end, we jusy pay those lawyers their bills." https://youtu.be/5vXZPztcGaY

  19. D.... T....

    Oh my Lord, He's so fine ! ! !

    D.... T....

My sweet Lord he's so fine😃

  20. b.... ....

Love this song. You can just hear the disdain in the lyrics. He was so good at expressing himself through song... Love ya George

  21. T.... ....

    GH: genius again

  23. A.... D....

This was definitively about the break-up of the Beatles.

    A.... D....

so was Here Comes the Sun ... George emerged from a horrible winter of legal squabbling, and sang his joy that, at last, it seemed to have ended.

    A.... D....

This song was actually about his unintentional plagiarism of the Chiffon's "he's so fine" for his first solo, My Sweet Lord. Passive aggression at it's finest. After his manager double-crossed him he wrote this. (Not plagiarised)

  24. i.... ....

In regard to your description above about the album, art work etc. In 1973 I actually did write for the Jim Keltner fan club button and 6 weeks later I got it. I sold it on Ebay about a year ago for 20 bucks. This was surely in response to the back of a McCartney LP that had a blurb about joining the "Wings Fun Club"

  25. J.... C....

This is the first time I've heard anyone say that besides me.

  26. n.... ....

    @Guisrage

A little late to reply, but "This Song" responded to the My Sweet Lord lawsuits. This responds to the repeated lawsuits concerning the break up of the Beatles. "Hold your Bible in your hand, and all that's left is to find yourself a new band"

  27. M.... ....

@gamemasterzoomzoomom WOW!!! That's great !! I'm glad to hear that The Beatles & John, Paul, Ringo & George can still inspire young people like you. You keep learning the guitar. You bet ya you're inportant, cause MrMotownManny says so. Keep on rockin.

  28. K.... B....

George had the best backing musicians on all Beatles solo releases

  29. s.... ....

This is not about the My Sweet Lord litigation. Sue Me, Sue You Blues was about the legal matters related to the breakup of the Beatles. Fantastic slide guitar by George.

  30. G.... ....

@MrMotownmanny Interesting, I thought the song entitled "this song" was also a reaction to his lawsuit?

    G.... ....

The aftermath of the Beatles was one huge lawsuit fest. Right into the eighties and onward

  31. M.... ....

thank you so much for posting this album up :D i love george :D

  32. M.... ....

OMG I used to have the LP. I bought it in 1973. This was his reaction to to the My Sweet Lord contervercy over copyright infringement. He then wrote This Song in 1976.
