Harrison, George - Run Of The Mill Lyrics

Everyone has choice
When to and not to raise their voices
It's you that decides
Which way will you turn
While feeling that our love's not your concern
It's you that decides

No one around you
Will carry the blame for you
No one around you
Will love you today and throw it all away
Tomorrow when you rise
Another day for you to realize me
Or send me down again

As the days stand up on end
You've got me wondering how I lost your friendship
But I see it in your eyes

Though I'm beside you
I can't carry the lame for you
I may decide to
Get out with your blessing
Where I'll carry on guessing

How high will you leap
Will you make enough for you to reap it?
Only you'll arrive
At your own made end
With no one but yourself to be offended
It's you that decides

There was one time (amongst many) that I was in jail for a while and I think it was this song that I intentionally listened first to when I got out.

  17. c.... ....

This song really belies the common and simplistic perception of George as the “Quiet One”. It’s the sensitive younger brother who is wanting and waiting for the acknowledgment and affection from his stubborn older brothers. An absolute gem!

Chuck Norris can get tired of this song.

  20. T.... P....

    Happy 76th George

  21. T.... E....

    Anyone else notice that the first chorus ( 0:54 ) has 15 beats ( 4/4 - 4/4 - 4/4 - 3/4 ) but the second chorus ( 1:34 ) has 16 ( 4/4 - 4/4 - 4/4 - 4/4 )? Subtle but genius songwriting in my opinion.

    T.... E....

    No one cares.

    T.... E....

    I care too.

  22. R.... ....

Heard this the other day for the first time in many, many years. Had forgotten what a great song it is.

  23. d.... r....

    awesome song

  24. R.... N....

This wouldn’t have been out of place on Revolver. Classic !

  25. R.... G....

My favourite song on the album.

  26. J.... H....

    George is dead

  27. M.... I....

    Cest est cha eth !

  28. P.... A....

Beautiful. And to think how many great songs were rejected by Paul and John. George was easily the deepest Beatle and had the most to say, if only they listened.

    P.... A....

George didn’t blossom into a GREAT songwriter until 1967, 1968. He even said this. John, Paul, & George Martin rejected GH’s songs because “they weren’t as good as John & Paul’s!’’ This has been said a billion times. George got the Greatest education for his craft, Lennon/McCartney!!
In your opinion, George was the “deepest?” You can’t compare John, Paul, George, & Ringo to each other...it doesn’t work. The Beatles are a force that will never be equaled.
In my humble opinion, ‘All Things Must Pass’ is the BEST solo album out of all their solo albums.

  29. i.... l....

An all time classic George's gem...

  30. G.... ....

    Glorious!

  31. j.... a....

    this is the truth.

  32. j.... ....

    Simply perfect

  33. C.... M....

One of the best songs ever

  34. R.... G....

    What a great song.

  35. J.... S....

This is tied for best Beatle solo album for me- the other being Johns first solo plastic Ono band.

  36. J.... G....

    ♥♥♥♥♥♥

  37. E.... B....

One of my favorites and wisest from an album completely filled with classics, album.Happy Holidays Everyone!

  38. B.... D....

Is he talking about Paul McCartney? Hmmm

    B.... D....

    I think so

    B.... D....

    Or himself!!

    B.... D....

Yes! At that time Paul was running around the studio talking down everyone!

  39. B.... D....

A gem that most people forget...too bad for them!

  40. S.... M....

Can't help but feel that this song was aimed directly at John and Paul, sort of bittersweet/angry but sorrowful as well.

    S.... M....

it was , particularly the line about how I lost your friendship and another day for you to realise me …. it was a manifestation of how he felt about John and Paul and their failure to treat him as an equal artistically …. that's my take anyway and yes you are right... its expressed in sadness not anger

    S.... M....

I agree, it even has the uneven time like a Lennon song. "I kept quiet, could have said something, didn't"

    S.... M....

It's for me. And for us all, I think.

  41. A.... A....

    it's you that decides

    A.... A....

    With many things, too.

    A.... A....

With a song like this one, making decisions seems like less work.

  42. F.... M....

Amazing song, fantastic album! Perfect in every way! George Harrison, great as always!

  43. J.... I....

heard this song at the end of Infinitely Polar Bear and I've been in love with it ever since.

  44. g.... 7....

great song by a great man.

  45. s.... ....

this song was ruined by tacky uninspired instrumentation. his original demo has more feeling and the solo guitar is way more interesting than this dated mess.

    s.... ....

Disagree; however, for Paul McCarney and his sake, demos included on Speed Of Sound 2-CD greatly honor the (songs).

    s.... ....

    Nope.... wrong....

    s.... ....

    I love the horns

  46. E.... a....

"Harrison é lenda é poeta do Rock "
