Harris, Emmylou - Roses In The Snow Lyrics

I met my darlin' in the springtime
When all the flowers were in bloom
And like the flowers our love blossomed
We married in the month of June

Our love was like a burning ember
It warmed us as a golden glow
We had sunshine in December
And threw our roses in the snow

Now God has taken my darlin'
And left me with a memory
A memory I will always cherish
Are these last words he said to me

Our love was like a burning ember
It warmed us as a golden glow
We had sunshine in December
And threw our roses in the snow

My darlin's buried on the hillside
Where all the wild spring flowers grow
And when winter snows start fallin'
On his grave I'll place a rose

Our love was like a burning ember
It warmed us as cold winds blow
We had sunshine in December
And threw our roses in the snow

recuerdo que esta rolita la busque , la busque alla en Phoenix ...mi primera rola country...alla por el 91
    una master piece del bluegrass..

that heavy vibrato / warble in Emmylou's voice slows down her delivery and makes for a rather pedestrian rendition of this tune. She actually hits a flat note or two. I guess a pretty face makes up for deficiencies. Check out Val Storey and Carl Jackson's performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3tiJqRlMCg&list=RD_3tiJqRlMCg&start_radio=1

One of the most damn beautiful voices from one country's most drop dead gorgeous Dames.

But who played the Bass ?

  6. W.... R....

Who was playing the tasteful frailing (clawhammer) banjo?

    W.... R....

That was Ricky Skaggs on the banjo....a special collection of some the best Appalachian Bluegrass to ever come off the pike. Love love love!!!

strawman8 - guitar and fiddle? Fiddle was Ricky Skaggs for sure. She'd brought him into her 'Hot Band'. Tony Rice played the amazing flat-pick guitar. Thanks to Brian Ahearn, that album amassed some of the finest players around to back Emmy; including Albert Lee on electric guitar & mandolin, and dobro player extraordinaire, Jerry Douglas! One of her finest albums.

Your statement about Jerry Douglas didn't even come close to how good he was. My feelings go somewhere along the line of uncommparable.Joe Engman

Hi Darlin' I love what you have posted! We vibrate on the same frequency, I love most of the singers you have posted. Thank you.

Erica Brown, fiddler extraordinaire, sweet singer too, from Lewiston Maine does a fine version on her 2012 cd, From Now On ! Last song is The End of the World, but take heart, she will put another out someday soon !

Think it's Ricky Skaggs on fiddle and maybe Herb Pedersen on guitar.

    b.... ....

Yes Ricky Skaggs on fiddle & Herb wasn't on this LP. You're probably hearing Mr. Tony Rice on the guitar. Altho Brian Ahern is on guitar too, he doesn't quite stand out like Tony! LOL
