I remember hearing Ben sing this live, solo acapella, balancing on top of a monitor wedge at the front of the stage under a huge tent in front of about 7 or 8 thousand people. Byron Bay Bluesfest 2007.
He asked the crowd to settle down, mostly got what he asked for but drunk Aussie dickheads will be dickheads, with the shouting and hollering and whatnot. Once he started singing, you could hear a pin drop in the silence between his phrases.
Every single person there had a religious experience that night. And I say that as a dyed-in-the-wool athiest.
Edit: Oh yeah, and later he had John Butler and Jeff Lang up on stage with him. Best. Set. Ever.

It does not get better than this, I have yet to find a video/song with more emotion than this. This song digs so deep it hurts, it truly tears me in the best way possible. Something else enters the room when I hear this song, and idk what it is, but I am thankful whatever it/who is. Every musician wishes to get to the zone this guys are in. Peace beyond understanding... is what I feel.

I chose the original version of this song for my little brother's memorial service as its always moved me to tears. Tonight while I was struggling through a particularly difficult run that was almost triple my normal length, I was giving up and this song started playing through my headphones. At the same moment a breeze came out and cooled me. I finished my run strong. My brother and this song truly have my heart.

I remember seeing Ben live at Byron Bay blues (East Coast Blues 'n' Roots Festival) in about 04 or 05, long before he met the Blind Boys.
He played the main stage, there were 5000+ people in the tent and midway through the set he quietened everyone down, stood up on one of the stage monitors and sang a traditional gospel tune similar to this, acapella. You could have heard a pin drop.
His voice wasn't as strong then as it is now and I was towards the back of the tent, but I heard every word.

I hope I'm never unlucky enough to run across the 7 people that dislike this

I can't believe how many viewers had the same reaction to this. Chills, crying, hundreds of replays. It is an Amazing song, and this version does need to be released on an album or something. I have the DVD documentary with this on it. But I need it in my car so I can sing alone and cry at the top of my lungs whenever I choose.
