Hank Williams - Pictures From Life's Other Side Lyrics
In the world's mighty gallery of pictures
Hang the scenes that're painted from life
There's pictures of love and of passion
And there's pictures of keys and of strife
Of old age and a blushing young bride
They all hung on the wall but the saddest of all
Are the pictures from life's other side
Just a picture from life's other side
Someone has fell by the way
A life has gone out with the tide
That might have been happy some day
There's a poor old mother at home
Just longing to hear from a loved one so dear
Just a picture from life's other side
The first scene is that of a gambler
Who had lost all of his money at play
And he drowses dead mother's ring from his finger
Which she wore long ago on her wedding day
It's his last earthly treasure but he stakes it
Then bows his head that his shame he might hide
But when they lifted his head they found he was dead
That's just a picture from life's other side
Now the last scene is that by the river
Of a heartbroken mother and baby
As the harbor lights shine and they shiver
On an outcast, soon no one will save
And yet she was once a true woman
She was somebody's darling and pride
God help her she leaps, oh there's no one to weep
It's just a picture from life's other side

Sorry for your loss 😥
The greatest Country music and writer that ever lived. This song is from his Luke the Drifter Album. It is so true and very sad like many of his great songs. I love this song and have listened to it for a lot of years. Hard to beat but anything Hank did would be hard or impossible to beat. The best is just the best.
Hank will be singing for the King, when we all get home.
One of the best and truest songs ever.
Awesome!
This version of it i have never heard, I like this one better, I wish Hank, could see what was going on today, I bet it would be number 1, if he made a song of the perversion of what going on.
Wonderful old song love these brings back memories when I was younger
Picture that...👥
Hard to believe 1895 was only 56 years ago.
scary as hell
John Delmos you ugly as hell
@Nezuko nnngv$&;÷. ssh

right on..jimmie rogers...he could see the other side...and wrote about it...best ever
best of hank william
hank could see the other side and let you look in greatest singer ever
yep most of em gone now what a place heaven must be
I hope there really is a hillbilly heaven
this reminds of my dad he used to sing these songs to us i miss him so . so i play these songs in remembance of him
"This song was written in 1895...Don't you know that??" "Thats 57,,,56 yrs ago aint it!""" Making this recording from 1951... Wow talk about a paradox..Even more staggering is its now 2016 making the 51 version to the present older than Hanks reference of the 1895 year the song was written! Boggles the mind!!!
boggles mind how real it was in 1895 so much more real in 2016
And how your comment is 2 years old
A few added verses to update it a little and Hank made something great even greater. He was good at that.
Hank and Conway are the best.
I agree but also love Gene Watson
one of the greatest Country songs ever by the greatest singer ever
Couldn't agree with you more brother
hankwillians
thank you
one dislike? what the hell were you doing here little shit? Greatest Country artist EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now if you like "real" country music, you will not find any better than this. Nothing like it today.
+Glenda Presley absolutely. todays music isn't even made with instruments.
might I suggest that you try looking up the country music from Newfoundland I think you will find some of the good of country music being preformed by there country artist
God help the one thumbs down person eh?
VIVA HANK WILLIAMS!
i agree with you that obama is horrible 100% but i mean EVERY president we have ever had has lied or done something shady... just how politics work.
Bloody good stuff!
goddamn
hank is a gangster is his own right
always has been the best
how do you this and die at 29.. ? I'm not sure, but he is immortal
+John Nunn The good die young, don't they. The one artist that is within comparison(as far as how good the music is; stylistically it's hard to be more different) of Hank Williams that didn't die young is Johnny Cash. Jimmie Rodgers is the other one within comparison, and he died when he was 35 years old in 1933(from Tuberculosis). Jimmie Rodgers and Hank Williams both had 6 year recording careers ending in their death(Jimmie Rodgers from 1927 through 1933; Hank Williams mid 1946 through New Year's day 1953)
you think i dont misss my boyfriend i do mrs nowelll
John Nunn because he was great don't u he couldnt be an addict to. He was on morphine and a sedatives and alcohol with that cocktail he had a heart attack. Such a shame with a great voice and previsions. I would give bout anything in this world 2 have been able 2 meet him great singer n songwriter
Justin Bester Hank was only in country music from 1948 to New Year's Eve 1952. They list it as New Year's Day but it takes a little while for Rigamortis to set in so. But u can Google it n see I did other night cause I wanted to see how many song Hank write n in all it was 167 songs he wrote not counting the 1s Jr found in attic. Sorry but with lung and throat cancer I have only time 4 treatments n looking up stuff n like Hank ask waiting for angel of death but thank u for letting me share n God Bless y'all even it's 2 late 4 me I still believe in my Lord and Savior Jesus
what i was thinkin, aint it just?
Heck, compared to what we have today, the 80's look great. We sure had a good President in office that decade. We got a lying deceitful crook as a leader now and even worse, the nuts re-elected him. Just goes to show how immoral the U.S. people have become, and it's only going to get worse. The Bible predicts it and let's face it, we're at that moment now.
IJUST WONDER WHAT HANK WOULD THINK TO WRITE TODAY THE WAY THIS WORLD IS ALL THE DRUGS AND PEOPLE WHEN IT COMES TO MONEY AND ALL THE KILLING GOING ON PEOPLE SURE HAVE CHANGES IN THIS OLD WORLD JUST THINK IN HEAVEN NO MORE HURTING AND NO MORE WORRY ABOUT PAYING BILLS AND TAXES
I THINK BACK IN HANKS DAYS WAS THE GOOD DAYS
BETTY
If there were cellphones with internet & all the apps in Hank William's time, why he'd of never written songs.
The Greatest Singer/songwriter of Real Traditional Country Music that has ever lived. His music will never die
i was born in 1984,but thank god that my dad saw in his awesome wisdom to lay the hank on me.which inspired me to pick up the guitar at 9 yrs old,and i haven't put it down yet.thanks dad......and hank
thanks to my dad who introduced me to hank!......rip dad
I do so Love his music and have every day as a little girl and now an old lady I still love to hear him.
I guess you can say i undersytand how Hank feels, i definitly know how Hank Jr feels being that my Dad was a very well respected and loved outlaw. I took a lot of hell sharing his name! been busted for things i never did! and had some great praises just for being his son. I know how it feels for people to say "I sure hope you are like your daddy when you grow up" and others say with hatred in their voice "your gonna be just like your daddy" In loving memory Michael Lee McKemy (aka) Scutter.
There aint but few songs of Hank's that don't touch me in ome heartfelt way, but this one hits really close to home!
Sends a shiver down my spine. Thank God for Hank Williams.
Hank as far as im concerned is the greatest singer to ever walk this earth--I also consider Merle Haggard to be the 2nd best to ever walk this earth. Now this is my opinon only--I am 76 years old--I have seen them all come and go--But Hank is more popular than ever--ty
John Newsome you got it!!!! Great taste.
i listend to my aunt lorna growing up
What more can be said of the Greatest Country Music Star of all Time. Hank took up the mantle of Country Music and took it to its epitomy
Classic Hank!!!
@QuibloGamingStudios I'm 18 and not even originally from the US and I love this kind of music! I hate the new pop sounding country that is popular however these old artists like Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, Roger Miller, etc. that actually would sing with passion they are truly amazing
wow this is an old song ... over a hundred years old
This is really a sad, spooky song I found in a hymnbook, believe it or not. Sure has a message though.
Its a shame some people has to use this type of language on a puplic post board.. YES, there are a lot of us old people who loves this kind of music. RIP Hank.
heylll grow up some day like my aunt joe used to say
quiblo, most people are stupid, and think lil wayne is an artist. hank sr is a fuckin american poet, and don't let anyone tell you different. so you should feel fortunate, for you are in a very small club of people with some fuckin sense.
keep putting these up and you will be famous in no time
