Hank Williams Jr. - Ain't Misbehavin' Lyrics

No one to talk with, all by myself
No one to walk with, but I'm happy on the shelf
Ain't misbehavin', I'm savin' my love for you

Now I know for certain, you're the one I love
I'm through with flirtin', just you I'm dreamin' of
Ain't misbehavin', I'm savin' my love for you

Like Jack Horner, in a corner
Don't go no where, why do I care?
Your kisses are worth waiting for, believe me

I don't stay out late, I don't care to go
I'm home about eight, just me and my radio
Ain't misbehavin', I'm savin' my love for you

Like Jack Horner, in a corner
Don't go nowhere, why do I care?
Your kisses are worth waiting for, believe me

This isn't by Hank, this is by Fats Waller, 1928.

    a.... ....

Written by Waller and Andy Razaf introduced by Louis Armstrong in Connie's Hot Chocolates at Connie's Inn in Harlem and then on Broadway in the summer of 1929. Armstrong's 1929 record is his first crossover hit. Waller records it several times before his death in the 1940s

    Right, right, and right.

  47. c.... ....

Redbone's version of the song is on YouTube. Have a look/listen and you will see what I mean. Also on YouTube is a duet with Jr. and Redbone. Don't know if it was recorded before or after Jr. released his version. I tend to think Jr's version followed their duet.
I will check out the versions by Fats & Hoagy. Thanks for the info.

  48. c.... ....

I didn't know that. Please tell me the artists names & songs. Would love to hear them. thanks.

  49. t.... ....

    This song freakin' melts me...lol

  50. c.... ....

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Hope Leon Redbone feels the same way about it.
I find it ironic that after spending the first half of his life in the shadow of his father and bitching about it, he is now free to sing in his own style and his own voice, but chooses instead to copy Leon Redbone. Go figure.

  51. S.... .....

I don't have the same beleifs as his, but EVERYONE has good in them. It is a fine thing to say something nice about about a person, and as you do so, you find an increased desire to continue.

  52. J.... M....

I was sitting in a bar on a snowy night in Columbia, Missouri in the mid '80s and this song came on the jukebox. It was a perfect setting and when I got back home to Kansas City the next day, I gave my beautiful wife an extra kiss. That's what great love tunes can do to a guy.

  53. N.... S....

Great song. great interpretation. Despicable human being.

  54. r.... ....

This song has such a beautiful melody line. Mr. Williams sang it so incredibly well (that's an understatement, but I can't find the right words), and it's such a wonderful song. It makes me feel so good, listening to it, to know that I am not the only one who was ever sad and blue.

  55. C.... C....

    WONDERFUL
    I love this..

  56. b.... w....

It's utterly fantastic. I bet Hank and the boys had a ball doing it too, it in no way was work for these pros, just pure fun.

  57. L.... ....

I love all of Hank Jr's songs but this and "Air That I Breath are just soooo SEXY

  58. A.... M....

SEXY. FANTASTICALLY SEXY NO ONE IN THE WORLD IS A SO GOOD INTERPRETER. BEAUTIFUL.

  59. A.... M....

WWWWOOOOOOOWWWWWW I FINALLY GOT SOME..AINT MISBEHAVIN........THE WAY THEY USE TOI DO MIDDLE 1950. THIS IS EXTRAORDINARY FANTASTIC. THE TRUE MISBEHAVIN....BEAUTIFUL DELIGHTFUL

  60. L.... ....

Hanks also sings "Air That I Breath" and it takes my breath away. Such a sexy voice. Both "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Air That I Breath" are my most favorite of all Hanks songs. I wish someone would post Air That I Breath by Hank here on youtube.

  61. W.... T....

@UP6740 Like I said, I've seen him play every instrument on the stage before.Guitar, bass, fiddle, steel, drums, piano. He had very good teachers. Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Howlin' Wolf and more.

  62. L.... ....

I fell in love with his sexy voice back in the early 80's. I get the chills listening to him sing. I love AIR THAT I BREATH... CHILLS thinking about that song. :-) I know it has to be here somewhere. I do have in on cassette and CD but when I am playing on the PC I love to listen to music.

  63. W.... T....

@twinPaula12 I've seen Hank play every instrument on the stage before. This would have been a studio musician, I'm sure. Hank knows the sound he wants and makes sure it comes out on his records.

  64. t.... ....

As I saw Hank Williams Jr play piano in a live show years ago I've been wondering if he's playing it here. Even though many musicians can play more than one instrument I imagine most prefer to stay with a guitar. I read that Hank's version of this 1929 classic (co-written by Fats Waller) went to number one on Billboard in 1986 - deservedly so for sure. It's been recorded by so many artists but I still prefer Hank's here. - Paula

  65. t.... ....

This old classic is a winner. I do love Hank's voice on the ballads. He does them just right - real country gold. His song is on the juke box at our American Legion Post' to which I belong as an auxiliary member. It's great to dance to and Hank is super fine voice wise. Thanks for posting this winner. - Paula (Pauline)

  66. L.... ....

What a SEXY voice this man has. This and "Air that I Breathe" by Hank Jr are my most favorite out of all his songs.

  67. B.... V....

    love this version

  68. O.... T....

It's a shame this song was used in a reverse-creepy scene in the movie "In country" (which got Bruce Willis an oscar nomination). A then-young Emily Lloyd played a teenaged daughter of a KIA Viet Nam vet from Mayfield, Kentucky, who, while at a bar, sashayed up to another man who was a 'Nam vet and rode off to his home, all to this very song.

  69. s.... ....

    tooooo cool!
