Hands Like Houses - Spineless Crow Lyrics

Streets, these visions, an origami city folding in.
Construction, creation, we are architects and kings,
Lifting street stones from their beds to build these homes from memory,
As we’re tangled in our sleep.

We were young together, but I’ve grown ancient.
Cracked and weathered and filled with regret,
Waiting to sink, rushing to sink in my sleep.

The realisation sinks in through the skin like a disease,
A blight inside of me.
Missing your touch, your weight on my fingers,
What was familiar becomes unfamiliar.
Give me an anchor, a lifeline to hold.
Bring me back to something I know for sure.

Locked away, a dream-dweller pale from hiding with secrets
Deeper than daylight dares to seek.
Come out, emerge!
Hands to our eyes, overexposed for all we are.

Lay me down in a den of dreamers,
Put me to rest on a bed of sleepers.

Doubt is a plague. We’ll never be safe here again.
When all their eyes are tied to me, just carry the conversation please.

We were young, sandcastle kings building empires, cities and homes.
Architects tangled up in our sleep.

Wake up.

Why do awesome bands like HLH never receive the fame they deserve?? The world is so unfair.....:(

  2. A.... O....

The orchestral embellishments bring this song to a whole new level, this is Cameron Mizell's best work, imo

    A.... O....

Apathy Orchard this and Memphis May Fire’s The Hollow

Cam was on a role back in the day

  3. A.... A....

    Brasil 💓💓💓

  4. a.... ....

When my panic attacks became overwhelming, I heard this song and came back down. I owe my life to this song in particular. Hands like houses is the best band and I wish you guys would tour in the U.S. more, I would love to see you guys in Grand Rapids

  5. B.... B....

this is when i fell alive

  6. S.... ....

    A three versed song

  7. L.... B....

I love the band but does anyone else just find him a little bit hard to understand sometimes?

    L.... B....

Lewis Bough I can see that man especially in this album but the newest one is a lot easier to understand

    L.... B....

I thought I was the only one, I really love their music but he is kinda hard to understand at times, like I try to make out what he says without looking at lyrics

  8. n.... ....

    inception?

  9. T.... U....

I just found this band and they are amazing!

  10. M.... L....

does the tune at the beginning remind anyone else of Bird and the Worm by The Used?

    M.... L....

    *immediately thinks of Owl City*
*cries because I miss the old Owl City*

    M.... L....

    +xInkyx that too

  11. L.... C....

I can' believe people are equating this to Panic At The Disco just because of the lullaby sounds at the start of the song, the bands are literally nothing alike.

    L.... C....

+Brad Williams I know what you mean with the cussing but I kind of felt like they sold out when making Dissonants... Just since it doesn't have as good of lyrics as their other two albums and the second half of the album seems like filler songs :/

    L.... C....

@LxH Cody lyrically that album is great. By your comment you've bought it I assume. Honestly that last part of the album is my favorite part. Momoentary and the one's after that are so deep emotionally. It May have the filler sound but honestly I love their new stuff. It is easier to understand him. Its your opinion but that album is a great step in the right direction for them.

    L.... C....

+Brad Williams ehh I mean not that the lyrics are bad it's just that he kind of made them simpler so that more people would understand them, but yes momentary and I am had really good lyrics, I just wasn't as ecstatic about the rest of the songs

    L.... C....

+LxH Cody They are still different from any other band out their. I was happy with all their stuff. But you have an opinion so I'll honor it.

    L.... C....

+Brad Williams yeah, don't get me wrong their new stuff was good. Just not my style I guess, but thanks for being understanding and having a good conversation with me though. 'Twas enjoyable my friend.

  12. e.... ....

I heard this song is a big reference to Inception. Anyone have any evidence?

  13. E.... ....

Really? JUST 310,465 views? Horribly underrated band... That atmospheric ending with acoustic guitar was just beautiful... In fact, this WHOLE SONG is beautiful! They deserve way more than just 310,465.. If you don't like this band; I hope you'll be starving to death in the belly of a whale someday...

    E.... ....

Only 448878 on my view :( terribly underrated. listener since 2012

  14. M.... ....

Could this band be any more unoriginal? Sounds just like a heavier Panic and Fallout Boy.

    M.... ....

+Boobymiles funny how no one has said anything in regards to my original comment in proving me wrong, other then attacking me personally 😂.

    M.... ....

@MsTheRockster i am criticizing your argument because a band having a similar sound to other music does not equate to them being unoriginal because you don't like them.

    M.... ....

+John Wilson I agree with that, all bands are influenced by one another. Its just I can hear certain riffs with this band that are almost identical to panic and that's what I don't like. I must admit though, each time I come on here to comment and the more I hear this song the more I'm starting to like it...but my opinion doesn't matter anyways right...

    M.... ....

Sounds nothing like them besides maybe vocals.

    M.... ....

sorry for the paragraph. his vocal range surpasses that of fall out boy. they are heavier and not sellouts like panic! both of those bands completely did away with their originality by wanting more fame. but this band is original due to the fact they don't have constant breakdowns, don't scream, or curse. now their newer stuff has screaming but it is not overdone. it adds to the intensity. but everything about this band is different from panic and fall out boy. both those bands i still rather enjoy. but not their newer stuff. they still have talent and creativity but their newer stuff doesn't connect with me.+MsTheRockster. Every single guitar note has been played, every single drum line has been used. So attacking a band and calling them unoriginal is completely pointless and childish. This band has a lot of talent and originality in their sound. just like every other band out their today. i don't like sleeping with sirens. but i don't call them generic and unoriginal. I bite my tongue and refrain from listening to them. If you don't like them give an actual reason not an annoying they are unoriginal reason. their music is well written and is even better live. have a great day.

  15. B.... l....

The HLH music i love the most is Weight ,its awesome you guys should check.

  16. A.... ....

is it just me or does the beginning of this sound like Panic! At The Disco

    A.... ....

+Angelena Aster-Stater This whole song sounds like a little-bit-more-hardcore version of Panic! At The Disco, to me.

    A.... ....

    +Angelena Aster-Stater I thought the same thing

  17. M.... ....

I keep saying: "This is my favorite HLH song!" over and over again, starting with No Parallels, Antarctica, Developments, This Ain't no Place for Animals, and now Spineless Crow.

    I love this band.

    M.... ....

@MigueelDnd Have you heard A Fire On A Hill? If not you should, in my opinion it's definitely one of the best songs.

    V.... ....

Vinny Jesse your lyrics are wrong my friend

  22. J.... S....

The beginning sounds like a chiodos song

  23. J.... T....

This beginning reminds me so much of a different song with a female singer anyone know who I mean?

  24. s.... h....

Ugh I love this song so muuuuch

  25. S.... R....

Honestly the beginning reminds me of thriller more than it does I Write Sins Not Tragedies ... Maybe that's just me tho

    S.... R....

    It seriously does

  26. m.... ....

I'm in love with this song. I can't stop listening to it

  50. E.... H....

Really awesome nice guys(: They're really cool, and trenton is awesome for singing in San Antonio even though he was sick, definitely made my night, or life actually <3

  51. D.... ....

Truth. But fuck, I agree with him. Would love tabs for a lot of Hands like Houses songs.

  52. M.... ....

It sounds like an old version of Patrick Stump. Anyone agree? ...anyone? .-.

  53. A.... S....

    Thanks:)

  54. t.... ....

    Dreams are the origami killer

  55. C.... ....

Animals references the movie Crash...some of the titles reference things..starving to death is most likely from Pinocchio with Gepetto being eaten by the whale. Lion skin is one of Aesop's Fables, but idk really if Trenton actually named them after those specific things =P, they just seem very similar. The only other movie that inspires lyrics that you didn't mention was Crash though, but I bet there's others and I just haven't seen the movies.

  56. A.... S....

I also know that Antarctica references "Peter Pan".

  57. A.... S....

Do you mind telling me which songs are referencing which movies and books? I know that The definition of not-leaving references "Where The Wild Things Are"...

  58. C.... ....

It is. A lot of the songs on the album have references to movies, and books as well.

  59. K.... M....

It does sound like brendon from panic at the disco but ten times better

  60. A.... S....

Is it just me or does this song seem like it was inspired by Inception?

  61. I.... H....

Leave if you know what's good for you.

  62. J.... M....

hello fellow hipsters. i am your new best friend!

  76. M.... ....

martin alan here, love this band, hope you like my channel just as much!- martin (wow master)

  77. A.... I....

Does anyone else think HLH lyrics are amazing? :o

  78. M.... V....

Oh my God, it was the singer of Woe, is me so obviously it's going to sound alike!!!!

  79. S.... ....

Maybe it's me but the lyrics have a lot of references to the movie Inception?

  80. K.... C....

Panic At The Disco, Dance Gavin Dance, bit of Woe Is Me and you get these guys imo. Plus their own creativity of course...

  81. S.... C....

i was thinking the same thing!

  82. O.... M....

    <3 <3 Hands Like Houses <3 <3

  83. D.... J....

Ive only heard a few songs by this band and it's the best ive heard in a while. All these other bands that are coming out are all sounding the same but this mixes it up just enough to keep interest to todays music industry.

  84. e.... ....

First thing I thought of when I heard this song.

  85. N.... R....

Sounds a LOT like panic at the disco. Especially in the beginning.

  86. s.... ....

hi gavin; no one gives a shit

  87. n.... M....

    yeah at the begining

  88. j.... ....

    Perfect x

  89. s.... ....

someone already did. go on 911 tabs
    (dot)com

  90. D.... ....

It isn't written about Inception but it is influenced by it. They took the idea of growing old and becoming jaded much like Sato in inception in his long years in the dream world and expanded it into a love story.

  91. A.... M....

Don't worry, you're on the internet, you can swear. Here, I'll prove it for you: Fuck.

  92. D.... ....

Will someone F*cking Tab this shit!?!?!

  93. C.... C....

    This makes no sense.

  94. T.... K....

    It did.

  95. K.... G....

Especially the chorus - "We were young together, but I've grown ancient. Cracked and withered and filled with regret, waiting to sink wishing to sink in my sleep." =
Saito: We were young men together. I'm an old man.
    Cobb: Filled with regret...
    Saito: Waiting to die alone...

  96. S.... D....

    My brain is sore...
