Hammond, Albert - I'm A Train Lyrics
Look at me, I'm a train on a track
I'm a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Look at me, gotta load on my back
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Look at me, I'm going somewhere
I'm a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Look at me, I'm going somewhere
I'm a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Hard day, yes, it has been a
Hard day, yes, it has been a
Hard day, yes, it has
I'm a train, I'm a chook-a train
I'm a chook-a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, chook-a train
Yeah...
Look at me, I'm a train on a line
I'm a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Look at me, for the very last time
I'm a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Been a life that's long and hard
I'm a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Going down to the braker's yard
I'm a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Been a
Hard day, yes, it has been a
Hard day, yes, it has been a
Hard day, yes, it has
I'm a train, I'm a chook-a train
I'm a chook-a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, chook-a train
Yeah...
It's been a life that's long and hard
I'm a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Going down to the braker's yard
I'm a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, yeah
Been a
Hard day, yes, it has been a
Hard day, yes, it has been a
Hard day, yes, it has
I'm a train, I'm a chook-a train
I'm a chook-a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train, I'm a chook-a train
I'm a chook-a train, I'm a chook-a train
I'm a chook-a train, I'm a train
I'm a chook-a train
I'm a train!
I'm a train!
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a train!
I'm a, I'm a train!

Hammond, Albert I'm A Train Comments
A Swedish comedy group used this music in 1983, in a number where one guy wants to sleep but is disturbed by the backing singers. At first he repeats "Säng säng säng", which means "Bed bed bed". Then he sings lots of weird descriptions of exactly how tired he is, while the backing singers join in singing: "Sova sova sova" (Sleep sleep sleep). Then they sing that they also want to sleep. And they all sing about how reenergized they will be if they just get some sleep. This number was very popular in Sweden back in the days. When Swedes were tired they sang: Säng, säng, säng...

My 9 yr old son loves this song. I frequently catch him humming it.
Why does this song sound like something from Simon & Garfunkel?
Hes a train
Sabía que esta canción existia (Y) . 45 años despues la reencuentro :")
bassline is cool and give me the move in my legs
I remember this son as a child watching captain kangaroo

What a handsome fellow this Albert Hammond was in the 1970's, oh boy !! His songs were making America famous in Eastern Europe at the time. . . A stupendously suave talent. I adore him ! OlgaB. 16feb19
Very nice Singer!
Great song.
I love this song! Reminds me of being in grade school. That's when this song came out.
Wow... 40 years ago or so I heard this on the Captain Kangaroo show, with some edited train footage.
I only recently noticed that the train knows he's dying.
I always thought of it as a cheerful but shallow song. I never saw the darker side.
"Look at me, I'm a train on a line
Look at me for the very last time
It's been a life that's long and hard
I'm going down to the breaker's yard"
It's a cheerful song for those that are strong. :)
and that s what makes it positive... it knowws, but doesn t care and remains cheerful... and since it s been "a life that s long and hard" it looks forward to being decomissioned and spend some more quiet days... that s the most positive song i ve ever heard :)
Jesus. This song was covered by Slovak singer Eva Kostolányiová as "Zázraky", meaning "Miracles". I thought *her* cover was cheerful, but she died soon after recording it, and now I realize that when she chose to cover this song she must have already known she was ill... :(

Rip Albert Hammond? LOL literally did he die
@Dimi Kaitanidis "The breaker's yard" is where vehicles (a train, in this case) go to be disassembled and sold for scrap. The human equivalent of this song would be an elderly person going to the hospital for the last time and singing about how their organs are going to be harvested. Not entirely cheerful.
This is the best
1974 :)
1974... but this is timeless :)… modern Music isnt able to do this
The first time this song was in Lionel: The Movie.
3 / 7 / 1982 ❤️🎶👌🏻
