Hall, Trevor - Jagadeesha Lyrics

Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha
Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha
They speak of a country I also knew
Inside a sound
Oh, friend, come closer
I will unfold her
Bliss all around

Come, my son!
Come, my daughter!
Come in love, come in honour!
Oh, Jagadeesha, eternal teacher,
Bless all our hours, hours, hours!

Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha
Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha

Go with the good, forever run,
This love is strong, burn all night long
Bless them in full, in all three worlds
My momma said, oh, oh, oh

Come, my son!
Come, my daughter!
Come in love, come in honour!
Oh, Jagadeesha, eternal teacher,
Bless all our hours, hours, hours!

Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha
Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha, Jagadeesha

    what a divine sound...

In my mind the most interesting piece of this composition is the fusion of different styles of music. The backing vocals of "Jagadish" goes in a carnatic style of music, while the sarangi goes in the north Indian Hindusthani raga classical style. Must I say a very unique rendition. I would be curious to know who played the Sarangi, I see no reference of the collaborating musicians within the video description.

Tried googling it.. but what does Jagadeesha mean?

    J.... V....

Hindusim is not only of Indian my frn...

    J.... V....

    it's a Sanskrit word.

    J.... V....

Javo LyricVids eeswhar means Lord Vishnu or eesha in this context and jagat means the universe or creation so together they would mean Lord vishnu encompassing the universe as one. Hope it helps.

    J.... V....

Jagat is universe. Jagadeesha is the creator. For some ‘Jagadeesha’ is Creation itself!

    J.... V....

    Lord shiva 🕉️🌅

What is instrument in the beginning sounds amazing please if anyone knows what it is tell me! thanks

    L.... B....

The drone at the very beginning is from the Tanpura, the second instrument is either the Indian violin, or the Sarengi. It's a little difficult to tell because if it is a Sarengi, it is being played at a higher pitch and a thinner tone.

    L.... B....

    Thank you so much
this was very important to me <3

    L.... B....

you are welcome. On YouTube and elsewhere, it is spelled sarangi. Ustad Sultan Khan is a great exponent of it. There are some beautiful recordings of him on YouTube as well. Enjoy. And if you are looking for the Tanpura, search Tanpura C or D for the drone in those scales on YouTube. There are long recordings of the drone that many Indian classical singers and musicians practice to. Enjoy. :)

    L.... B....

    it's saarangi
