Hall, Tom T. - I Know Who I'll Be Seeing In New Zealand Lyrics

I know who I'll be seeing in New Zealand if I ever return and I want to
I know who I'll be seeing in New Zealand
If I ever get back and I hope I'll do I'll see you

Looking out the window at the blue New Zealand sky
Watching all the quiet gentle people going by
Far away from what they call the meddlin' crowd
Dreaming in the land of the long white clouds
I know who I'll be seeing...

Rebecca I love you and I want you to know I think about you almost everywhere I go
You have what has been described as improbable charm
I hope the future keeps you happy and warm
I know who I'll be seeing in New Zealand I'll see you

It's about Rebecca Lehmann. She was the daughter of the late Colin Lehmann who ran 4ZB Dunedin's Breakfast programme (along with Charlie the Mouse) late 60s - early 70s. Also was on 4XD Dunedin.

Yes, it's about Colin Lehman's daughter Rebecca. We were very good friends of them, miss Colin so much xx

Colin, before he died in Australia, was working in Radio on the sunshine coast at https://1049sunshinefm.weebly.com/. I worked with Colin at 4ZB in Dunedin.

Long time ago but......I think this song is about the young daughter of Neil Collins who was a Radio 4ZB  jock in Dunedin NZ from about 1920 to the present..... Tom wrote this song after seeing Rebecca waiting at the window for Tom and her Dad to come home one evening. Neil rattled on about it on the radio for years bless him!

Yes that's correct - my Dad told me about this story. He (Dad) was a great mate of Frank Douglas (in the music industry).

Actually written for the late Broadcaster Colin Lehmans daughter , Rebecca. Rebecca told me herself back in about 1978 when i was invited for dinner at Colins home in Wellington.

I’m pretty sure the “Rebecca” in this song from the 1970s was actually a girl called Sharyn….now a beautiful woman….and still living in New Zealand…
