Hall, Tom T. - Country Is Lyrics

Country is sittin' on the back porch listen to the whippoorwills late in the day
Country is mindin' your business helpin' a stranger if he comes your way
Country is livin' in the city knowin' your people knowin' your kind
Country is what you make it country is all in your mind

Country is workin' for a living thinkin' your own thoughts lovin' your town
Country is teachin' your children find out what's right and stand your ground
Country is a havin' the good times listen to the music singing your part
Country is walkin' in the moonlight country is all in your heart

Hall, Tom T. Country Is Comments
  1. T.... ....

Country is - electing country clubbing Republicans who export your jobs and ruin your lives for 40 years, and then blaming liberals who were telling you to keep supporting unions. Country is - electing a NY con man insider for Wall St and thinking he's a revolutionary. Country is being a sucker for the elites.

Country is - having one of the greatest music styles in history, and then turning it into easy listening rock bullshit.

What a great song.Tom T Hall is one of the great story tellers of music. So gentle and eloquent in his lyrics and vocal style.Wish there was more Tom T and a lot less of the screaming singers of today.

Tom T Hall the Storyteller you would think the songs that he sung was taken from history or from real life the songs have great meaning and I enjoy listening to the great Tom T Hall I grew up listening to him as a young man and still listen to him today on YouTube

    T.... H....

Tracy Humes - I was raised in the country. I can relate. It IS history and real life. His songs take me back to a beautiful time.!

  28. K.... ....

Idk what i would do without Tom T. i get the chills when i hear his music.

  29. R.... T....

Great song. I remember when it was being played on the radio. I wish I could find the original version though. There is another verse that had the line "country is, rolling your own smokes". That has been edited out since its not "proper" to mention smoking any more. I don't smoke but I hate it when the politically correct stuff ruins a good song.

    R.... T....

OMG!!!!!!! I am the EXACT same!! I hate that so much! Why just why do they HAVE to do that. It's stupid in my opinion.

  30. c.... p....

What a great song. In juxtaposition against a lot of todays music this song is honest and good.

    c.... p....

    you said it buddy....right on.....

    c.... p....

    Absolutely!!

  31. O.... D....

    Nice song.

  32. A.... C....

"Country Is"....Tom T. Hall...a true "country" voice....as clear as running water in a gentle, rock-strewn stream...makes you put the sound of traffic, here in a big city..to the background....and focus on this gentle song....while appreciating the tweeting of sparrows in the trees which you are blessed with, outside your window...yes, Country IS "all in your mind," -- everywhere..

Artists like Mr.Hall left a calming legacy, music in song...the universal language...Enjoy!!

  33. A.... S....

Country Is -- A clean, clear song to relax by, even in a big city! Love Tom T.

@Angie Simmons thank you for listening, i appreciate it very much

  34. B.... E....

Good Kentucky Boy! I wish someone could write a few like this one again but I'm grateful that someone wrote it once.

    B.... E....

    @Big E very true

    B.... E....

Very very true! I couldn't have put it better myself. But it's sad we have to say it😟. Music now will never be the same ever again

    B.... E....

There are many talented country musicians, such as Andrew Combs. They are just not played on the radio.

    B.... E....

mrbobevans, ok but he's young... all classic country songs either tell a story, or like this one it's just a good ole country song!! Now all of these new "country" songs just talk about love and how they pretty much failed at life😂. It's faster paced, the lyrics are bad, it never tells a story. Example Phantom 309. New junk is just not as good in my opinion. Life back in the 50's and 60's was simpler and just better than now. Now I'm not saying that this Andrew guy doesn't have any tallent. I'm just saying that his music is much much different than music back then. Music has changed. Forever. These new so called "country" singers, don't talk about life in the 50's and 60's. Yes it is a different time and I should probably move on, but I won't. Music then, in my opinion, will ALWAYS be better than new "country" junk. I'd do anything to live back in the day! But maybe I shouldn't be so quick to judge.

    B.... E....

    @J.W. Gauntt yes very true
