I was SO relieved when this album came out. When 86 and 87 went by and no H&O new album, it was starting to concern me cuz I was and still am a HUGE H&O fan. When the album started out with Downtown Life, i was elated. Great stuff!

Daryl Hall and John Oates. Their songs are about life every song says something what we felt, feel or will feel. So much soul. In other words they're real. Listen to the arrangements also.

Born 1961 stopped breathing a few times late 80s early to mid 90s fortunate to be resucitated as many times too ! Which I am appreciative of ! - but living in those great times - When I look around now & see the state the world is in - Our leaders letter our countries freewheel into chaos - Laws not being upheld - While other crazy laws being enforced & The biggest crime is todays so called music ! - I often wonder if when I have been brought back - that I 've come back to the wrong planet ? - I honestly do !

How to shift into reverse gear when we are all music industry casualties serving a sentence with unsteady tastes ? DARYL AND OATES remains the piece of evidence that the past is an unquestioned land of good tastes and we can only wind up the debate, no need to find such band exceptionable or to lavish praise on actual greedy entertainers only made to tide us over from our very daily habits.

In April of 1989 I saw these cats at Decos Nightclub in Miami Beach as a 18yr old. Room was absolutely packed. Sweaty.

I always though it was a Duo, but All I see or 99 % is Daryl Hall Singing .  Daryl hall Can do Every thing, so why John Oates ?  I don't get it.

When I first heard this song, I thought it sounded like the theme song from the TV show The New Gidget. Then again, I could be wrong.

Another great song from the 1988 "Ooh Yeah" album. I never understood why it didn't sell well. It was loaded with great songs & was just as good if not better than their '84 album "Big Boom Bam". Oh well. At least all us hardcore fans still know & appreciate it.

Holding a mob's fickle interest is always a tricky and sometimes dangerous undertaking. Hall and Oates made the right move to remain tight on integrity rather than pursuing perpetual fame.

If you're in doubt about what I'm stating, then look at their contemporaries who've pulled OUTRAGEOUS stunts just to stay relevant to today's social media machine. Hell, just look at the walking disaster Madonna is to get an idea of what Hall and Oates avoided!
