I have been listening to this album on repeat for about a month now. This was the one I skipped for the first half of that month. Now, I have to say, this is THE best song on the album. Took me a while lot love it. Such an epic song. That's the way to convince people Haley - Has to be one of the best covers ever made.

Ach, she just sings a song and makes it sound good. Aye, I know, a massive, massive understatement. She makes them ALL sound good. These songs aren't really old to me, but elsewhere I see clips of her singing some of the old classics from The Great American Songbook. She's some vocal artist. In fact, a real vocal artist!

It's called dissonance (when there's a tension or clash resulting from the combination of two disharmonious or unsuitable elements). Sometimes artists put it in their music for effect.

I don't know whether I'm so wired into some of these harmonies that they just don't seem dissonant to me. I don't know what Julia means by "vibratey" but I certainly don't think that there is any singing off-key even in the lower harmonies. As I said before, Haley goes into different registers with different sounds to her voice. From a traditional, classical point of view this might be regarded as a weakness of techinique. However, if it is, Haley has the musical intelligence to exploit this feature brilliantly so that it doesn't appear as a weakness but rather as another strength of hers.
In short, although I'm not prepared to argue with you, I don't know that I agree. Whatever it is, it still sounds very good to me!

Trevor Morris Lindsay Pez Now that i’ve listened to it so many times I have become numb to the vibrations as well. I just don’t really notice it anymore but when I play it for other people and ask them if they notice it, they say they do. it really is not that big of a deal Haley is obviously an insane talent and this song is still stellar. To me and the friends I have played it for- those specific spots in the song sound off. It seems out of the ordinary considering that she is a professional and shows off nearly perfect vocals in every song she sings. I rly love her voice but just because I am a Haley fan doesn’t mean that I can’t criticize and point out flaws I feel are there. I feel like sometimes Haley fans are so in love that they won’t acknowledge any possible faults. And to be fair there are not many she’s great but I won’t deny my feelings about the way those harmonies sound. You could be totally right and it could just be a difference in technique or register, that would make sense considering how vocally diverse she is in the song. I don’t know, I just know how it sounds to me.

I recognize Scott Bradlee on the piano. I've met him on several occasions. He is larger in life than in person...which really has no bearing on this comment. But here's the thing...combine Scott Bradlee with Haley Reinhart...you've got musical magic. I know, I've experienced it first hand...it's a beautiful thing!

I don't know if it's New Orleans but thon piano of Scott Bradlee definitely adds to it and gives it a different feel to the Kinks' version. Of course that's before mentioning the absolutely fabulous singing of Haley. Throughout the whole album her voice with all it's unique qualities comes across more clearly than in anything else she's recorded. This is my particular favourite but it's all bloody great! Ach, I'm going to have to listen again!
