Haken - The Architect Lyrics
Message on a screen before me
Caught a glimpse of the ending to our story
"I'm sorry I haven't called you recently"
It's not surprising
Take some time to process the evidence
And analyze your apathy
You turned your back on affinity
Now it's turned to toxicity
Spare me your obsolete empathy
The voice of sympathy means nothing to me
Delete all obsolete memories
Shores of tranquility
We played the game of imitation
I met your stare with blank expression
I count the years of isolation
Since you set my mind in motion
And to eliminate the silence
I calculate to cure the virus
A panacea for the poison
The solution is wrong
Well you turned your back
Turned your back on affinity
And now it's turning to
Turning to toxicity
Spare me your obsolete empathy
The voice of sympathy means nothing to me
Delete obsolete memories
In a dying sun
I'll become affinity
There's a strange feeling washing over me
As if I am drifting
On the waves of a boundless sea
All embracing
Some say that time and tide will wait for no man
I stop and hold a single grain of sand
To see a world in the palm of my hand
Strive to break free from the confines of my mind
Step through the doorway of perception
To lose all sense of past and future
Omnipresent endless knot
The architect of every thought
Through the prison walls made by your design
A chameleon hides behind Orwellian eyes
Spare me your obsolete empathy
The voice of sympathy means nothing to me
Delete all obsolete memories
In a dying sun
When you're gone
I'll become affinity
Oh hear this vow
Tied together forever
We'll make this dream
Last forever and ever

Haken The Architect Comments
King Crimson era prog reincarnated in Haken picking up even more awesomeness on its journey through the realm of gods.
Godlike!
Kick ass song!
10:17 Opeth puro
At the beginning looks like a boss theme from an arcade
Haken out here dropping 16 minute rock operas
is it me or does the crash cymbal sound grainy?
Absolutely blown away by this band. Can't wait to finally see them live with DTP and The Contortionist!!!
Im here cuz of a guitar cover on insta now im in for a 15 min. Ride
George Gibson could you be talking about Connor Kaminski? The cover you saw?
9:43 i want that synth sound
Thank you for sharing your art..its amazing
The "turn your back, turn your back on affinity, now it's turning to, turning to toxicity" part is soooooo gooooood
Max Hernández it’s my favorite part too. It’s so menacing, and the time signatures, man. I still cannot figure out if I’m dividing it right
Prog metal--not for the faint of heart.
10:24 I heard Opeth's The Drapery Falls in there for a second, I think.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this! Thought the exact same thing, sounds like the main riff in that song
On of the greatest song I ever heard
This band is amazing and so talented yet so underrated
I was totally on-board till 10:47
Oof, he really doesn't have the right voice for that, sounds strained and shrill. Just sounds flat out bad.
That's Einar Solberg from Leprous, and in my opinion he is currently one of the best singers to do just that, listen to Slave by Leprous live and then give that part a second listen
Is no one going to mention that vocal melody at 13:39 plus the guitar after it????? Fucking Beatiful!
10:18 I hear some opeth influence
12:18 meshuggah
And even earlier is Tool, Dream Theatre and Porcupine Tree
very crimson patterns in this, great work.
Amazing track. Really puts me in the right mind for painting.
F**k what an epic song!! One of my all-time favorite riffs (at 3:50)!! One of my favs by Haken!
Who put his Leprous in my Haken?!
I mean, I love both, but still! :D
Daaaaammn
12:18 This reminds so much of Periphrey - Omega Riff. Search for this song and skip to 3:38
Quand l'élève dépasse le maître 💖🤘
love this!!
Progressive is like this: the more you listen, the better it gets.
If you think about it, that's literally the definition of progressive
Rush,Queensryche,Tool.
I don't know what it is, but the riffs starting at 14:53 give me chills every time I hear it and can even bring me to tears. I had tears running down my face when I saw them live for the first time during this section. One of the greatest moments of my life.
Amazing!
that reprise at 13:18 is out of this dimension.
https://youtu.be/u-FOlcTBR_I
Sorry, I needed to save an unlisted link and had nowhere else to put it
12:18 Oh no they didn’t just do that...
Feels like the music spanking me sexually m8
(12:18) - Я просто обожаю этот момент в песне!
love the drum part (7:45 - 9:40)
Wow, what a song! Love that bass solo. Don't hear bass solos enough in prog. Fantastic songwriting.
This is like a 15-minute rock opera about an entire planet, forsaken by their god, banding together to yell "fuck you then we'll do it ourselves" in order to survive the destruction of their own sun.
This is prog metal.
And this is...Sparta !
Danny Torrance used his Shining to get people into Haken? Shine on you crazy diamonds....
Wonder woman theme at the beginning haha
The outro to this is one of the most beautiful outros i have ever heard.
no one else did it so here’s the lyrics

Haken wears their influences, but they do it very artfully and make it their own sound. On this song, I can hear Dream Theaters Dance of Eternity, Periphery's Omega, Opeth's The Drappery Falls, Porcupine Tree's Blackest Eyes, Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Seventh Wonder's Taint the Sky, and Tesseract's Messenger, and Wolverine's Pulse, and Between the Buried and Me's Turn on the Darkness. 😁
Am I the only one that thinks most of this, especially the beginning, sounds like a final boss battle? Either way I love this song sm
final fantasys boss theme hahaha
Dream Theater's futuristic child
No conozco al tal Danny XD pero le agradezco que les enseñaran esta buena banda
Aunque no me gusto despues de The Mountain, esos tres primeros albumes los sentí como una cronología
Mas Visions, ese album es epico

Dan has great taste in music.
Glad to see a lot of other people who came here from Game Grumps.
danny no
Danny yes
The second verse of this song gets me every time
Amazing ....
God I love how explosive the chorus is in this song. It comes out of nowhere and just slams into your face..
All Haken songs are good. There are very few bands this can be said about.
This is my new song to play while I'm programming so hard and I need to be concentrated
I love how they go back to the main theme from "Initiate" at the very end of this song.
The first time I listened "The Architect", I didn't listen "Initiate" first. So I just find it, a little dramatic but very nice in the way of the track.
When I then begin to listen the debut of the Affinity album and though the main theme, I was like "oh damn ! What a cool link !"
Strong guys. Really.
@A.J.K Yeah, the songs tell a story. And all of them are loosely linked in a album.
You'll also hear a bit of 1985 and The Endless Knot in there.
Beginning slightly reminds me of some last chance to reason.
Good to see someone mention them!
Who is Danny? Good thing he likes good music and recommended some people
Game grumps. Check em out!
Dan Avidan from NSP
Aren't you dead, Jeff?
the screaming/growling part is terrible and doesn't fit the rest of the song.
RudeDudeMike™ Im not completely agreeing with you, but that's Einar from Leprous... they shoulda utilized his brilliant singing voice.
Lyrically, it's the most important part, and serves to vent the narrators frustrations. It's poetically perfect.
Im agree with you,i hate this new trend of singing like a fucking koala in mate season...destroy the ambient of this beautiful song
@Nessun Dorma My Way new trend? Lol mate this "new trend" predates Dream Theater.
Discovered this song today. I'm an addict for it now!!!
you are not a true haken fan if you came here because of game grumps
lol its exposure...NSP got a big bump from game grumps. doesn't mean that game grumps made them awesome. they just brought some lights down on the awesomeness so its seen by a wider audience. if the band was shit it wouldn't matter who pointed it out. but as it stands its in my favorite playlist right now.
Hey guys, found the Haken hipster. Douchebag.
All haken fans are hipsters know yourself
Enjoyment of anything has nothing to do with how you discovered it man
You become a fan of the music if you enjoy the music. It doesn't matter which avenue you discover them through, as long as you enjoy it. I discovered Haken long before they were mentioned on Grumps, but the fact that they got a little exposure from them can only be a good thing. Be happy that there are more Haken fans in the world, they could have chose Cardi B instead
This is true music art. This kind if music confuses me to why mainstream is what it is
Supposedly you wouldn't be able to tell that this was true music art without having the mainstream "crapola" to compare it with:)
Bosspoke the question is why the "crapola" gets mainstream instead of this
I think mainstream music is popular because it's easier.
Mainstream music is mainstream because they are all the same, literally, same chord progressions and bpm's, all in the name of familiarity so we "know" the songs, which is why nowadays mainstream music is disposable/replaceable, its all the same in the name of sales. Also mainstream music is more danceable. If we want good music we're gonna have to look for it; it kinda makes it worth it when you discover your new favourite band out of all the mediocrity out there.
That moment you find out one of your idols likes the same music you do. Love you, Dan.
Can someone put a link to Danny mentioning this song? I'm a huge Grumps fan, but I found this song separately and had no idea that Danny was a fan.
Its on his IG signing along in his car.
He mentioned it in a breath of a wild video; 56 I think, he sung a part of it too
https://www.instagram.com/p/BNLDnAXBUs9/?taken-by=danny__avidan
it was part 51 of breath of the wild
3:50 is what he sang? Lip synced whatever he did
Thank you Dan!
those blast beats tho
blast beats are best beats 1:47
3 people turned their back on affinity.
This actually almost sounds like this could be Danny singing! Grumps FTW
yeah I bet Danny gets off on the fact the singer sounds an awful lot like him. I know I do.
He just mentioned it again in BOTW Part 51
GRUMP BUMP AGAIN!
This stuff is not bad at all.
God this is dream theater long. I love it.
Shemy Djent hakens longest song is 29 minutes long
I think
Purple Hamburger7 Octivarium, and I love every second of it
@rishab n 22
This was super hot. Just stumbled upon it
Where can I find the lip sync video of Danny?
DrewSolace instagram.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BNLDnAXBUs9/?taken-by=danny__avidan
holy shit this is amazing, why haven't i heard of haken before
Because they're not very famous. And most people don't like good music, they like what they are told to like.
I blame the jiu's.
danny avidan could do a solid cover of this song
Under the Covers vol. 3 maybe?
huge opeth vibes at 10:15. sounds like bleak, it's fucking awesome.
no it doesnt. It sounds like the drapery falls. get it right
@Reflect All But White yow it s fine nobody's dead cause he missed
moe oh hey another LP fan! 😃
So good
that intro kills me.. it impossibly perfect
Thanks, Danny!
Grump bump! Danny Sexbang rules!
Based Sekibanki dude, cockroach king is one hell of a tune. In fact, the mountain has some serious bangers
@Based Sekibanki r/gatekeeping
@sillyname396 r/iamverysmart

"I bought it at the mall, its the funny phone jerks"
Most beautiful chorus melody I've heard in years ( 3:48 )
Love this song! There's a strong Opeth feel at 10:18
Yep, I second that
Yeah I wonder if they've heard Drapery Falls before
Thank you. I was wondering which song it was :)
Actually found this band on Spotify Opeth radio. I fucking dig them.
Don't know why I never thought of that.
shpoople.
I honestly can not believe Haken gets such low views.
...and Cardi B and Lil Xan can garner millions of views? I blame the public education system and the general dumbing-down of the masses.
@MegaZeroX7 Well now, this video has 100 thousand views too ^^
@Evinta lmao game grumps bumb amirite
@Bryant Feng probably lel
Most people don't like complexity. All they want is I - IV - V - I, 4/4. Haken is too elaborate for them.
toot toot
doot doot
I'm spooped
