Years later... This is probably my all time favorite chorus Melody... Like ever... I love how the instrumentals are all rythmically complicated, only to have the vocals just soar beautifully over it all. And when it comes back in The Architect... Oh my God.

Just here to let you know that the verses are in 7/8 timing but the drummer is so amazing and makes it hard for you to count it. @ 1:31 = 7/8 time signature.

this band Haken is extremely overrated. yea they're good but they haven't earned their place amongst the giants yet. Dream Theater, Opeth, Rush and more.
this band got too good too soon, in a matter of speaking. there isn't really a backstory to how good they are or how they came about. there's something that feels empty about them.

In some Facebook post we ridiculed a much overrated Dutch band. Somehow my comment led to many reactions and lots of musical tips vice versa......one of them this Haken. I took a listen and not one week later came across the deluxe cd package at a record fair.....picked it up right away, cool stuff!

Everytime I hear this album I think that maybe it's my favourite album EVER....now that's a MASSIVE statement and I adore 100s of albums.....Affinity absolutely blows me away every time I hear it and I only have to hear a tiny bit and I end up playing the whole album....twice!!!

Seems like a great band. Not particularly a fan of overproduction on the vocalist. Would probably listen to this band if it didn't feel like it was squarewaving my ears at higher volumes. Overall loving the composition though.

THIS is one of the best things I have ever treat my ears to! Like all the best prog metal I've ever heard mixed into 1 but with a fresh sound and gorgeous use of harmony.....I can hear allsorts....DT, Opeth, Frost, Pain of Salvation, Porcupine Tree, Meshuggah perhaps? They also remind me of an old band I used to like called Cynic :)

Just checking this band out. I've seen them on the Mike portnoy's shattered fortress tour in Tilburg and they were amazing!!! But there own music sounds very good to. I think I'm sold!!!

Awesome band but i've always didn't like their singer. For me from album to album his voice (timbre) and his vocal lines getting worse and worse. By the way on a live shows he always sings out of tune..

It took me a while to get into Affinity I think because it was such a shift from The Mountain which is also excellent. Now I'm really digging Affinity from start to finish!

Haken is my new favorite band. I have all their CD's, and each one is as good or better than the last. Top notch playing, song writing, and vocals. It comforts this old soul to know that the progressive music of my youth is still moving forward.

Affinity album is one of the best albums of 2016 imho.

Haken was so promising, then they put out this shit album with only 1 decent song

this popped up after listening to a Symphony X song. Gotta say..they suck in comparison to Symphony X. just listen to "Underworld by Symphony X and you will know the difference immediately.

I feel like a lot of this song (along with the music video) draws a lot of parallels with the Overview Effect. Makes for some interesting reading if you're into nerdy space and philosophy stuff, lol
