Hackett, Steve - In The Skeleton Gallery Lyrics

When I was young I was lonely
Lost without you
In my creepy building
Without a clue

Many people said I was dreaming
Way, way up in the stars
A spaceship out the back
Footprints on Mars

Shadows in the corner
Pin me down in my room
Scared to fall asleep
Puppeteers on the move
They always lay in waiting...

Wake up! Jump out
Before the song ends
Get out! Hear the shout
The puppeteer's not your friend

  6. C.... P....

Gotta be my favourite song from the album, just after Behind the Smoke. Absolutely beautiful.

  7. A.... R....

    Anyone with this lyrcs?

  8. R.... L....

for the second time in 4 days i saw steve play this live last night in tarrytown ny it was amazing love his voice, perfect for his songs

  9. T.... N....

    awesome

  10. R.... L....

this entire album is amazing. love steve's singing his voice fits in well with this entire sound. another amazing album by a superstar genius

  11. J.... L....

What an amazing concert last night at Bridgwater hall Manchester 2 1/2 hour on stage he played this tune from the new album

  12. f.... ....

Love that beginning with the middle eastern scale

  13. S.... ....

Don't know. The first 2 1/2 minutes are beautiful, the riff at 3:03 is really captivating, but the whole contruction of the song seems pretty confused, and the ending is disappointing and absolutely casual.
Adding that the album sounds all pretty much the same as this one and that the choral part looses a lot when performed live... it just doesn't convince me.

Is there such a thing as a 'bad' hackett album?

  16. A.... ....

Weird - Don't get it... Don't like it!

  17. P.... C....

The Night Siren takes us in most of the time ("In Another Life") even though the emphasis ("West to East") and the theatrical sometimes return teasing ("In the Skeleton Gallery"). Not enough to tarnish the picture of a disc advancing like a mirage until "The Gift" which plays melancholy with a formidable efficiency!

  18. B.... A....

Get the new album, it's great. The Sustainer guitar on "The Gift" just goes right through me. One of those beautiful pieces that Steve brings to us. Please come and stand on the Red Rocks in Colorado. That setting was made for your soaring guitar. The new 21st century Rocky Mountain High! Steve Hackett is fantastic!!! I'm working on reproducing you sound with my new Sustainiac guitar. Thanks for the beauty and Inspiration, kind sir!

  19. T.... V....

    Beautiful (and impressive too)

  20. J.... B....

Wonderful new music full of Hackettisms. Thank you Steve for continuing to feed our ears.

EXELENT song, hope to get the album. I have been a follower since 1968 . I was 8 years old, so I heard them from my oldest brother. I heard that type of Rock and without understanding the language I LOVE THOSE GUYS, THE DOCTORS IN MUSIC...

    j.... ....

    Great music.

  22. M.... C....

    DA SOGNARE AD OCCHI APERTI

  23. w.... ....

Wake up! Jump out before the song ends!

  24. L.... ....

He has clearly been influenced by arabic music and all what is happening in Siria. This song has many changes and colors. Sometimes has a dense rock sound, then next, a sublime and mystic arabic influenced sound. Then a little bit of jazz...

  25. M.... P....

Love Steve's stuff...just not a fan of the (what seems) computerized harmonies sometimes. I know his band provides backing vocals, but often times it just doesn't seem natural

  26. U.... D....

enjoyed seeing him with the Buffalo Philharmonic recently. The show in Buffalo was truly..... a magical experience - have always admired the diversity in his solo work - love this composition ! (the middle section of this song reminds me of "Sparks" )

  27. R.... H....

enjoyed seeing him with the Buffalo Philharmonic recently. The show in Buffalo was truly....... a magical experience - have always admired the diversity in his solo work - love this composition !

  28. l.... ....

Nice one! It reminds me Thursday the Twelfh by Bankstatement!

  29. t.... ....

Those strings, man. Always doing the Wolflight thing.
I wonder what Nick Magnus is up to these days.

  30. H.... ....

Genial Steve! Tu música como siempre con fuerza y con encantamiento!!! Thanks Steve! Buena Vida y Exitos!!!

  31. m.... ....

I only got into Steve's music with 'Wolflight' which has become one of my all time favourite albums. Sounds like he's continuing in that vein which suits me.

    m.... ....

metalbearuk I recommend his first few albums - Voyage of the Acolyte, Please Don't Touch, Spectral Mornings

  32. R.... L....

this is amazing no matter what era of his music it's ALL amazing

  33. g.... ....

    Valley of the Kings?

    g.... ....

I agree with you when I heard it it reminds me Valley of the Kings !

  34. 2.... ....

An excellent track. Looking forward to the full release in March.

  35. M.... N....

Superb. Can only assume the negative reviews have listened to the wrong thing. It's OK to have a sound, what do you want Drum 'n Bass?

  36. J.... ....

    FAB As Always

  37. t.... ....

oh, come on! LZ did Kashmir 42 years ago – Does Steve Hackett think no one remembers that song?

    t.... ....

Good point. Though starting around 1:10 this does diverge from the "Kashmir" template and gets some life of its own.

    t.... ....

    Never heard of it.

    t.... ....

No resemblance at all..at least for me.

  38. Z.... C....

Anyone knows who the absolute amazing drummer is?
I'll go ahead and guess Gary O'Toole.

  39. T.... L....

Absolutely stunning as ever cant stop playing it !

  40. m.... ....

Wow, love the way he is really confident to sing theses days, well, OK its been happing for years

  41. T.... M....

great album name, NIGHT SIREN just put my order in , thanks steve hackett n band,,

  42. A.... R....

Always bugs me that Steves producer feels the need to compress the music to death , A solo acoustic guitar should not sound louder than a full band crescendo !! rant over Love the music !

  43. b.... m....

great track, cant wait for the album, booked up for London & southend don't forget to play clocks

  44. c.... ....

Sounds like another copy and paste job, just like the last album. Sounds very similar to "a life within a day"

  45. M.... M....

Oh dear. Oh VERY dear. Completely derivative of previous Hackett album material.

  46. g.... ....

I'd be willing to swear the first couple of minutes was co-written with Tony Banks.

  47. F.... Y....

Can't wait to hear the new album

  48. C.... N....

41 years ago in March,1976, Steve truly started with VOY. OF THE ACHOLYTE, a solo career that continues this March.

  49. P.... S....

    Marvalous.

  50. M.... ....

    INCREDIBLE! JUST INCREDIBLE!!!

  51. d.... ....

excellent as always through the years

  52. A.... Y....

It reminds me of so many songs from Steve's last albums that it's a letdown

    A.... Y....

    I agree with you !

  53. C.... ....

great album cover - nice artwork.

    C.... ....

    Aurora Borealis

  54. M.... ....

Wish someone else could do the singing...

    M.... ....

Magister Better him than bloody Nad Sylvan

    M.... ....

Daniel Cesarini I think Nad does a great job

    M.... ....

I agree with you Steve Hackett is a great composer and guitare player but he is not a great singer !

  55. T.... M....

say no more,, looking forwards to owning a copy ,,nice one steve, and co,,

  56. F.... B....

I'm afraid to say I'm depressed by Steve's last albums. Poor production, poor creativity, awful rythm section.... always the same kind of singing, of writing. Time to get a new productor Steve ? A Nigel Goodrich for instance ?

    F.... B....

I agree with you it is too much similar !

    F.... B....

It sounds like Valley of Kings !

    F.... B....

Steve self funds his work. I think we are getting the best production he can afford. Overall, I think Night Siren realizes what he was trying to achieve on Wolflight, and is right up there with Wild Orchids, Beyond the Shrouded Horizon, and To Watch the Storms as his best rock band work. I'm hoping to hear at least one more Classical album from him before he shuffles off this mortal coil.

    F.... B....

Don't forget, Steve got taken to the cleaners by his ex-wife and his former business partner. I doubt he can afford to take a few years off to recharge his creative juices. However, I think that everything since To Watch the Storms has been really strong, with the exception of Wolflight and Squackett, which were terribly uneven.

  57. T.... A....

Well, it sounds very much similar to "Wolfwork" from the "Wild Orchids"-album (I was listening to it this morning...). I hope the other songs are a bit more independent.

    T.... A....

I think this is one of those songs to promote an album without revealing too much. If you know what I mean.
The way this song ended made me realize that it will flow into something else + that there will be better songs on this album. This is one of those connecting tracks to make the album a whole.

I've. listen to steves music most of my adult life, always had a wonderful creative magic. with it.

    T.... A....

Not to mention "Dust and Dreams" . . . Cheers!

    T.... A....

I agree that it is similar !

  58. s.... j....

Awesome can't wait for the new album

  59. M.... C....

I love all the magical comments. Just what I was thinking

    M.... C....

Loved this in Cardiff. Looking forward to hearing it again tonight in Sheffield.

  60. J.... J....

  61. T.... C....

Awesome. Can't wait for the album.

  62. F.... L....

    Superbe !

  63. D.... L....

Violins sound as LASS library for Native Instruments KONTAKT ;)

    D.... L....

They probably are, or something similar. Wish he'd use real musicians

    D.... L....

As I know 2 previous albums Steve hired a violin girl, she can layer any strings

    D.... L....

Well it sounds fake, maybe hire another producer then :)

  64. M.... B....

    Mystical, thanks Steve!

  65. S.... S....

    Класс!

  66. A.... A....

Woww.. what kind of magic is this...

    A.... A....

Achilles A. That's Mr. Hackett for you

  67. S.... S....

Awesome! So many colors in ONE song.

Steve Hackett. Never fails to deliver

    T.... ....

Saw him do this live last night in Reading, PA. It was absolutely mezmerizing! You need to hear it live, then perhaps you'll appreciate it more. Up in Smoke is fantastic as well live, can't wait to get the new album just for these two songs and I assure you there will be many more awesome songs!

    T.... ....

I'll have to agree on that. A bit predictable.
